The stories kept changing, making it feel like the staff were simply making up excuses instead of being honest. Good customer service isn't about never having problems--it's about how you treat people when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, this place chose excuses over professionalism. We wasted our time driving there, made plans around this activity, and left feeling frustrated and disrespected. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this business.

There is worker helping us get ready. That includes vest, kayak, paddle, whistle, wet bag. The launch site is a bit far from main entrance but we don't mind. The paddling was easy and the kayak is easy to use. We enjoy our day there. The launch site has a building there but it was water damage during the flooding. You can keep your car key to the tender so you don't need to bring it with you.

If you're arriving after dark, be cautious--the entrance sign is not lit. I was driving a 40-foot motorhome towing a 30-foot trailer and mistakenly took the first turn instead of the second. The signage isn't illuminated, so headlights are helpful to confirm you're in the right place. I highly recommend arriving before dark. The campground is very quiet and feels like stepping back into "old Florida." It sits right on the river, where we saw otters playing and fish jumping--literally jumping two feet out of the water. Very cool. We stayed in Site 20, a pull-in site with excellent river views and located right next to the boat ramp. There's a small store on-site that sells firewood, fire rings at the sites, and it's perfect for a relaxing evening. The permanent residents were extremely friendly and helpful. Kayaks are available to rent for river trips (we didn't do that this time). They don't sell bait, but there's a great bait and tackle shop less than a quarter mile across the street with wonderful people--perfect for fishing off the dock. No problems at all, the dogs loved it, and my wife really enjoyed how relaxing it was. We'd happily stay again.

There were three of us, and I'm not the best fisherman in the world. But even I was able to catch 4-5 beautiful trout. We ended up moving after we caught over 20 of them. Then, onto catching red fish. Man, I didn't know what hit us. I swear that fish almost pulled me into the water with it, but Tommy kept encouraging me to keep my tip up and keep reeling in the fish. I caught three of them in nothing flat. One got away though because I let it get into the rocks--all very exciting stuff. We got six red fish in nothing flat. Tommy kept us going and after we were done, we had the biggest mess of fish I'd ever caught. He cleaned them up for us and we had fish three ways that night for dinner. There is nothing like fresh fish from the water to the table. I totally recommend going fishing with Tommy. Oh, did I mention I'm a 63 year old woman, so not the strongest person when it comes to fishing, but I had the time of my life. And I didn't feel out of place at all. I told him I was not very experienced with artificial bait and was not very successful when I have tried using artificial bait in the past. Not only did Capt. Dencil put me on fish, but he also taught me how to catch fish using artificial bait and gave me confidence to continue using artificial bait when I'm fishing on my own. I want to point out that he provided live bait for us to use. He worked with me at the fishing level I was at and helped me to improve my fishing for the future. All that to say, if you're an experienced fisherman looking to get out on the water, he's the guy to get you there. If you're not an experienced fisherman, he'll meet you where you're at and help you successfully catch fish. WE PUT FISH IN THE BOAT! He gave me tips on what to look for when choosing places to fish. His boat was comfortable and set up right for fishing the many shallow areas we have in this area. His equipment was high quality gear. It was an all-around awesome experience. As…read morea matter of fact, I worked together with the Captain's father, Dencil Powell Senior at the local paper mill for 45 years. I can vouch for the Captain coming from good stock. Dencil Senior had a true love for fishing, but nothing at all to compare with the Captain's Love for the sport called Fishing! Fishing is Captain Dencil's Life! Locally oxbow lake "False River" was created many, many years ago when the Mississippi River changed course, leaving the several miles long lake. False River was known to produce good catches of large mouth bass, but I had a camp there, fished regularly and never hauled a catch home that was worth bragging about. While I fish a lot, I don't usually fish for bass and really don't know how to do it. I tear up the catfish and bream. Have racked in the white perch more than once. A friend from Colorada called, said he was coming to visit and wanted to catch all those big large mouth bass he had been reading about and seeing TV shows about. Well I knew I couldn't put him on them, so I hired Captain Dencil to guide him. We all left the dock at daylight with fog and low visibility in the Captain's boat flying across the water. I was worried we could hit something when suddenly the Captain cut the motor and whipped the boat around, saying "Did you see that, throw right over there". I didn't see anything! My friend casted towards the spot and the fish came out of the water getting the cast before it even hit the water. I have been a Believer of Captain Dencil ever since. Well. the live box and ice chest filled up during the day. A catch we were proud to brag about. My friend from the Rocky Mountains was totally Impressed!! As was I !!!
