This is the first time we use this vendor. The contract shop is at the Cortez Road. You probably have to check in here before you travel to the launch site. The launch site is about 1.5 miles away next to the river. 5 minutes drive. So go to restroom at the check in point before go to the launch site. The launch is very easy. There is worker helping us get ready. That includes vest, kayak, paddle, whistle, wet bag. The launch site is a bit far from main entrance but we don't mind. The paddling was easy and the kayak is easy to use. We enjoy our day there. The launch site has a building there but it was water damage during the flooding. You can keep your car key to the tender so you don't need to bring it with you. read more

Nice place to see lots of nature and crystal clear water. The stream runs downstream, you barely need to paddle other that to steer in the right direction away from branches. The adventure is about an hour and twenty minutes but you get the kayak for two hours, plenty of time to go slow down the stream and enjoy the beauty. Overall a good experience. read more

We've lived in the area for almost two decades. We've done the Weekie Wachee River in personal kayaks & SUP's and rentals. Our last trip, yesterday, we rented from Weekie Wachee Kayaking . We made a reservation 2 days prior and even though it was a busy Saturday they had us covered. (2 doubles & 2 singles). Plenty of parking at their Cortez office and a 3 minute shuttle ride to the launch site. Launching was smooth, as was coming back in. The crew was great! The double kayaks were nice and buoyant and the singles were comfortable. (Thank you for returning my pocket knife Sir!) You will be paddling upstream which isn't as much fun BUT the nice part is you are going with the current on the trip back. Easy, relaxed and occasionally Quiet... If you don't want to kayak up river you can go to Weekie Wachee state park and float down river for 2 miles, but you're dealing with all the people that are going to the park. I called earlier in the week after hearing the mermaid show was closed, to ensure the kayak rental was still available. I spoke with a women and she reassured me they were open and would be all weekend. Today we arrived around 12pm, super excited and ready to kayak. We walked up to Jon, and his first words were "reservation?" We were confused as we didn't have one and requested one kayak. He said "sorry were full." We explained we just drove 4.5 hours from South Florida, and the women who I previously spoke to earlier in the week, never let me know whe needed a reservation. (We have previously visited the springs and didn't make a reservation.) Jon did not seem to care at all about our situation or our commute. He said there was nothing he could do. The business was fine. Everyone was super helpful and nice. But if you are looking for a relaxing float down the river or a peaceful canoe/kayak ride, forget about it! This river is so crowded. Plus there are motor boats and jet skis on the river as well. The exhaust and the boat waves made it very unpleasant, as did all the people. I have been trying to call this place and reserve 4 kayaks for the past 2.5 weeks. EVERY time I called I got a recording and twice I left a voicemail and NO ONE got back to me. So my friend, since its 2 days away, called herself and a woman actually picked up the phone. Said they are busy and now booked, no kayaks left, rather rudely, and when my friend said that we have been calling for 2 weeks, the woman hung up on her! Unbelievably rude and how inconsiderate when their own voicemail says leave a message and they will get back to you. Now all the other places we have tried are also booked, you need to book at lease one full week in advance...Thanks a lot! Jerks!!! We had so much fun! I called the day-of to make a reservation and everything went smoothly when we arrived. The staff were friendly and nice and had our kayaks ready. They took us to the spring, and it took about 3 hours to paddle down to the pickup point. We went on a cloudy Saturday in March and it wasn't very busy (thankfully). We saw deer, manatees, gar, and lots of cool birds. The water is clear and warm. I'd definitely do this again! read more

When I made my reservation the day before the staff was extremely helpful and friendly which made me even more excited for the trip to Weeki Wachee. The next morning we were running a little late and called the company letting them know that we were going to be there 30 min late they said it wasn't going to be an issue and the reservation was good for all day. We got there at 11:30 and they told us that they didn't have any kayaks available and that having a reservation didn't really matter because they had no kayaks. Which means that they don't hold kayaks for their reservations which is extremely contradictory. Amazing experience. We grew up in this part of town and experienced WW as kids, it was a full circle moment when we got to being our son this time. There are ALOT of people, other kayakers and boaters. I'm not particularly happy that motor boats are allowed through the river with kayakers but everyone was pretty courteous of one another. This company made the day wonderful. Everyone was very accommodating and encouraging and helpful. When we come back we will be using them again. If you are going to stop and swim I recommend bringing your own road to attach your kayak so you can tie down. So much fun!!! read more

This place was awesome! I went kayaking with a group of 6 and we saw, and swam with 2 dolphins and 12 manatees. Very clear water up stream, clean, refreshing, and a great family experience. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to swim/kayak through clear water. Only reason I gave it 4 stars was how crowded it was. Terrible experience. Property is disgusting (it's a shack in the middle of nowhere), life jackets are terrible smelly and are in piles in the corner of the shack, and although the young woman at the front was very nice she wasn't very helpful. I wouldn't trust these people with safety. read more

I am not sure how this company is rated number one on Trip advisor because it for sure is not! We arrived at 11:40 to check in this past saturday, which is at least 15 min prior to our reservation time of 12:00. After checking in the front desk lady informed us that we all needed life jackets, no biggie, but when i asked where i could get them she pointed to a pile of old, dirty and smelly jackets thrown in the corner and said " go pick one out!" While waiting to load into the van i heard the front desk lady tell the driver that my family was taking off from the bottom of the river, Rogers park. I had to ask them to confirm what I had overheard, and they did. I said that I had reserved to take off from the top, the State park, and the driver said that was not what the reservation was for. He asked who i spoke to and when I told him it was him he said "that is impossible because she (pointing to the front desk lady) is the only one who answers the phone here, you must have made a reservation at a different company". i told him that i not only had a text confirming my reservation from them but my reservation was also in the computer. His only solution was to refund my money if I " didnt like where we would be launching from" . If we had not driven 3 hrs to get there I would have taken a refund but my kids were all set to spend the day on the water. At 12:21 we finally loaded up in the van for a 12:00 departure. Our driver reeked of pot but got us there safely. Once in the kayak my husbands kayak started taking on lots of water, the gentleman told him to bring it back up to the launch. it was missing a plug and the guys solution was to take all the plugs out. He said "it will float but you will have to run with water in it all day" . My husband said "absolutely not, I did not pay for this" so another one of the guys took a plug from another kayak and put it in my husbands. The route to get to the river from the launch was quite a hike. We went about 2 miles UPSTREAM, which was not the plan of the day at all, but we did end up having a great time. The water is amazing and are so many cool little spots to stop and enjoy. My family had a great time but it was by no means because of this company! read more

I have been trying to reach this company by phone for several days. I call multiple times a day at different hours between 8:00AM and 4:00PM. They NEVER answer the phone! The voicemail recording days to leave a message and they will all you back, but the voicemail box is ALWAYS full. To me this is a sign of a poorly run business, so I will need the warning and find a better, more professional kayak rental business. Very disappointing. read more

The young lady that was taking names and payment should really learn about good customer service. She was in a bad mood because she was having a busyday, and was short with the customers. She was also arguing with her coworkers in front of everyone. The rest of the staff were very nice, but the wait inside their van is way too long. It's so hot, and they don't have AC, and you are expected to sit in a 10 passenger van until they are done loading kayaks and figuring out which group has what rentals. The drivers drive waaay too fast, and dangerous. I was really nervous on the way to the river. The van in front of us had a loose canoe, and we could see it about to tip out straight toward us as we were driving behind it. The river itself was very nice, and I like that that this company lets you have several hours without rushing you. I also like that they do all the heavy work of moving the kayaks around in and out of the water/trailers. I think I will try another company before using this company again. I understand people have bad days, but you simply can't make your customer feel as if they are a burden to you just because you're angry. It was very unprofessional and I don't want to deal with that again. I highly suggest that the manager pull her aside and give her some extra training or something. Dreadful experience at Weeki Wachee kayaking never will I do business whit them again. I made reservations via phone a week prior to my trip, at the time of the reservation I had a few questions for the man taking care of me. One of the questions I had for him was where I was going to be dropped off, and if I was going to be going uppstream or down. He went on to reassure me that I was going to be dropped off at the top of the river. Meaning I would be paddling down stream, not UPSTREAM! Okay now lets fast forward to the day of my trip. I get to this place and it seemed to be under construction bc the parking lot was a mess with piles of what seemed to be dirt everywhere leaving very little parking space for customers. The "office" where you are supposed to check-in is a mobile home with very elevated, unsafe, steep stairs to walk up into. As I walk in my initial though was am I in the right place? Bc it seemed so odd as I proceed to a desk which is in a corner next to smelly old life jackets lying on the floor. I am greeted by a nice young girl which had my reservation set she asked me to sign paper work after that pay for the fees then we are told to wait for that van that is to take us to the river. At that point Im applying sunscreen waiting for us to be transported to the river, then I over here a man that works there tell someone else that we are going to be paddling upstream. I rudely interrupt their conversation to address this issue. I told him that when I made reservations a week prior I was told I would be paddling downstream meaning I would be dropped off at the top for the river not the end off the river and now I get here to find out otherwise. This man's only solution was to refund me my money, I mean If I lived around the corner I would have taken the refund however, I traveled 150 miles to get there I wasn't going to waste my time. Then he started boasting on how people always paddle upstream and come back very happy with their trip. So I just decided to be positive about the trip and get dropped off at the end of the river. The river is just way to busy with people canoeing down stream to paddle up.... its a mess, and frankly not worth it. I did not enjoy this experience and would definetly not recommend this place to anyone! read more

We had reservations at 12:30 and we were told to get here early to fill out paperwork and pay. We showed up at 12:05 and had paperwork done in less than 2 minutes. The lady told us a van would be here in 5 minutes to pick us up, it's now 1:15 and we just got picked up. We got dropped off and we were told to sit at picnic tables while the kayaks get unloaded. Meanwhile, this has taken another 10 minutes. They told us we have no late fee and can come back whenever we want but yet it's dark by 5:30 now and we have already lost what seems like an hour of possible kayaking time. Also, people who showed up after us got to get in the van before us so we had to wait till the second van pulled around to get on that one. We arrived at the place where they unload us and the people in the first van are already out on the water. So so so disappointed in the organization of this business. Will NOT return. read more
