I like to think I have a good combination of education, judgement and experience so that when I go to the Dr, I have a good idea of what I need, I can ask the right questions, and understand and comply with clinical directions. I am from CA where they aggressively manage asthma. My son's asthma has been in remission for four years because I was 100% compliant with management of the disease and not just the symptoms for almost five years. I never missed a dose. Since he is in remission and has been symptom free for four years, there really wasn't any management required. His asthma trigger was colds and viruses. HOWEVER we are now in a different climate and it appears that may be changing. His current flare up, he has allergies (never had them) that are not being controlled by Allegra, PLUS a pretty nasty virus which was causing some cloudy breathing. I took him in to Dr. Davis, and in pretty quick order Dr. Davis changed his regimen PLUS now that he's older, gave me the rundown on using the peak flow meter to monitor and manage the asthma, so this will be our new daily regimen. I appreciate FACT BASED and EVIDENCE BASED clinical decisions and I am not one to panic (ok Dr. Davis lol!!!!) I want ALL of the information I need to be compliant with a treatment regimen as well as all if the tools I need to get it done, and this office is WONDERFUL. As for Shirl, Dr. Davis' nurse, SHE IS ALSO EPIC. They treat my son so well. I do not like the "service center" phone queue so I always ask for Shirl directly now.
