I'd echo the other one-star reviews here. Paid his fees, bought him plane tickets because, although he appeared to live in the Austin area he actually did not. Showed up at the intervention and talked to my son. Son refused to go so he left. Later when son changed his mind Freedom Interventions was unavailable to escort him. I ended up doing his work. Family counseling was also promised and never happened. Do not use. $7k for next to nothing. read more

My family and my brother's friends hired Matt in the hopes of setting my brother on a better path with his addiction and mental health. I personally chose to move forward with a professional interventionist because I was told by his healthcare team, "If you want to feel like you did everything possible, hire a professional." And It is honestly the best decision I have made when it comes to dealing with addiction and mental health. I interviewed several interventionists, but Matt stood out. He doesn't just understand addiction because of his own lived experiences-- he understands the entire family system around it. His approach is thoughtful, observant, and tailored to the people involved. He prepares you thoroughly for the intervention and stays by your side until your loved one completes treatment and is officially discharged. What happens to your loved one is truly ultimately in your loved one's hands -- but thanks to Matt, we knew that regardless of the outcomes we were able to raise my brother's "rock bottom" and created an opportunity for change and the first step to a longer road for both of us. One of the most important lessons I learned through this process is truly understanding when they say addiction is a family disease. That means being open to exploring your own role in the dynamic -- including enabling, codependency, and how we unintentionally reinforce certain behaviors. Matt gave me the tools to reflect on my part in this. It was a hard pill to swallow, but a necessary one. The only real way we can help our loved ones -- and ourselves -- is by being willing to change the dance and dynamics we create, even when it's the hardest thing to do. Matt prepares you for all outcomes, even the ones that don't go as hoped. From day one, he was professional, empathetic, and direct. He's upfront about the process, contracts, payments, and refund policies -- no fine print, just clarity. For anyone considering hiring an interventionist, know this: you're investing in a process with no guaranteed outcome. It's a 50/50. That's the reality -- and it's why some of the negative reviews I've seen about Matt, they feel unfair and out of context. This was not our experience. Addiction and mental illness are messy. I too would give less than one star. I hired Matt to do an intervention on my daughter. My daughter ended up deathly sick and has been in the hospital since Nov 30, 2022. She almost died and has a long road of physical recovery ahead. I let Matt know about her situation and he said to keep him posted. Once I realized the magnitude of her being sick, I let him know. Told him we would not need the services he provides and I asked for a refund. He said yes to a refund. But it's been almost 2 months since I asked and despite many attempts to reach him-he has gone dark. I am beyond angry. He provided basically nothing and yet feels he can keep my money. I hope he sleeps well at night. The only task Matt performed for us was one phone call with all who would be part of the intervention. read more

I was also not refunded two plane tickets, as I've read from other reviews. He purchased them as non refundable. To use them I will have to pay an additional $400, on top of the $720 already paid. The treatment center we chose was unavailable due to fires, however the back up plan was not up to par of what we were looking for. read more

I am very fortunate to have met Matt Brown and value our relationship. Matt has saved many lives and stands firm in his recovery. Professionally, I would highly recommend Matt to anyone asking for help getting a loved one sober; he will give you a roadmap that provides knowledge and a variety of experiences in interventions. We were deeply disappointed in Matt Brown. BEWARE Despite all the hype and videos Matt talked the moon and delivered the darkest of disappointments. Not only did he not deliver on an intervention, refund us on a place ticket not used, or deliver on a 6 month additional charge - he kept all the money. I contacted Matt Brown to help out with a friend in need. I had a lengthy phone conversation with Matt about what was going on. He provided lots of good advice. We ended up not needing Matt's services. My friend voluntarily checked himself in and got the help that we needed, but we did use some of the advice that Matt gave me. Matt called me back two days after I spoke with him to check in on the situation and was genuinely happy that the situation was resolved. Had my friend not voluntarily taken the initiative, I was going to hire Matt, and I'm certain that he would have done a good job. read more

I would choose less than 1 star but it is not an option. Our family hired Matt to transport a son to rehab and then for him to assist the family with ongoing counseling and support. Matt pocketed the $7K did an intervention, which was not successful (not Matt's fault we think), then we never heard from him again. We paid for his flight and expenses to go to the intervention as well. I would strong recommend not hiring Matt. read more

Our family hired Matt Brown (Freedom Interventions) to help us transport our adolescent child to an out of state rehabilitation facility. It was a very difficult time in our lives and we needed professional help. Unfortunately the service we received from Matt was not what we expected. There was lack of communication from Matt and his team, and most concerning - lack of integrity with payment for his services.
