They were the only company that would talk to me about refinancing my mortgage due to my credit at the time. In fact, they had approved me for a refinance. However, the terms of the deal constantly changed. The person I initially dealt with went MIA on me. Every time I called to speak to someone the story changed and could never get confirmation of the original deal that was promised. The people that you talk to either don't listen or don't write down what you say. Very unprofessional. I guess I will just continue to work on my credit and try a more legit and professional business. read more

Freedom Mortgage has reported us late on our mortgage payment of January 2022.  This had resulted in a lowering of our FICO store by approximately 100 points.  We actually paid the January mortgage payment on December 30, 2021 before it was due and it came out of our bank account on that same day.  We have spoken with them trying to correct their error.  They sent us a response saying they were unable to honor our request due to the Fair Credit Reporting Act which states "they must report factual data and are unable to retract the delinquency".  They stated the payment was $52.06 short due to an increase in the payment based on an escrow analysis and that they had informed us of this increase. Part of the "factual data" was that they sent the notice of increase to an  incorrect address and we never received it.  They stated that because the payment was short they had to record it as late.  They also stated that because they had tried to reach us by phone they had fulfilled their responsibility.  They however never left a message when they called so again we did not have any way of knowing the payment amount due had been increased. read more

Doing a refi with them. Began the process in mid-August. Did it with them because they already held my mortgage so the process should have been easier than starting with a new company. Wrong! It is now mid-October, and I have had weekly (or more frequent) phone calls, always in the middle of the work day, to ask for more documents, tell me everything was final (an email would have done just fine thanks), ask for more documents, tell me the documents I sent were not good enough, etc. If your time is worth money, this company is a ripoff. read more

watch out for this company. our insurance company terminated service in our area. we got another policy and these guys decided to take a policy on our behave that was 3 times the cost during the time it took us to to the transaction. when we called to rectify the problem they said there is nothing they can do about it and we will receive the bill regardless. read more

If I could give them no stars I would. bait and switch. Contacted them when another company was starting to do a refi for me. 'Freedom' could meet their rates etc and 'all they needed' was a W2 and bank statements. Turns out - a complete lie. Did not communicate that a HELOC, (fully paid off over a year ago) had to be closed. Did not clarify that. Continued to call asking for same information that I had previously given. Assigned about 12 different'custom service reps' who basically kept asking for same information. WF faxed them the form they needed but then evidently, the county needs to send them something,but the county takes 30 days, which was past the time frame. COMPLETELY unhelpful,uninformative,combatant ( because I didn't know specifics about how a refi works). My mortgage was sold to them in December and I have been trying to get information from them month over month to refinance my home to move to another mortgage company to get away from them and their communication and response is horrible. Freedom Mortgage Co is a nightmare to try to contact. I work at an insurance company and we were trying to contact them because a client has them pay their insurance premiums and contact with a human is impossible. The fax line is always busy, and when you call, you will wait all day for them to take your call...after 3 hours I left a call back number and they call back at 7pm when your office is closed. The email responces are maximum of 5 words. We couldn't get confirmation of payment sent for a client so their policy cancelled. They also sent the client a letter stating that they couldn't reach us, which was a lie because they never tried contacting us by phone, email or mail. All I can say is what a headache, they obviously do not care about their customers or anyone else. read more

Freedom mortgage was there last mortgage company originally we was with Embrace they sold it to roundpoint and then that all three of my sister companies then Freedom was at last mortgage company basically we had the same issues with all three of them stay away from all three they basically scammed us we spent about $57,000 and mortgage payments we never refinance and mortgage paid all their payments when we sold their house we walked away with pennies basically they overcharged us way more than what we originally borrowed from them these companies are scam artists and they really all should be shut down we end up selling Ale House in Owen more than we originally borrowed from them stay away from all three of these companies cuz you will be overpaying 50 times what your house is really originally going to cost read more

My wife and I bought our first house late last year. We used Blufi and they had the best rates and least fees would could get (being first time home buyers with a limited downpayment). After I told some of my coworkers the rate I got they looked into getting Refi's and lucked out with the timing of rates (getting locked at about 4%) My boss was in the middle of a refi with her bank when she saw Blufi's rates. She took her estimate from Blufi back to her bank but they could not beat it. (They even 'helped' her through the process hoping to find some hidden fees but there were none) The service was great and we are so happy they could help us buy our first house. read more

I have excellent credit scores, job, pre qualified at other companies, etc. I had to deal with multiple people, losing information, bad...I mean the WORSE customer service ever! When I finally got the loan, I was so fed up with BluFi I told them they are not getting a single dime from me and I walked. I don't care if I had out of pocket fees/appraisal fees. One unethical ex-employee even called me 10 months later to solicite my business with his "new" loan company...how the h..ell did he get my confidential contact information, can you say stolen from BluFi? I was so annoyed, i reported them to the BBB about their lack of confidentiality, lack of systems to keep confidential information. If I could rate this mortgage company with a negative 10 I would. Recently my mortgage was switched to this company from loancare services. I had to set up a login with them per calling them to make payments for my mortgage or if I used the phone line I would be charged an extra $10.00. So to avoid that I made a screen name and password. Well come to find out they over drafted my account with a double payment that I did not authorize. So I called customer service to get it fixed and they said the money would be back the next day. Which it was but the next day they took they payment out again over drafting my account again. I called customer service again and they told me they need a screen shot of the transactions and to send it in to their customer care site. Well they don't accept pictures they only accept PDF files so after I converted it the request timed out and would not let me open it back up to add my PDF. Now my bank is over drafted and I have no money to pay my other bills. To say I'm frustrated is an under statement. I do not recommend this company unless you want to get screwed over and have to have a run around to get your money back. In the end I never got this issue resolved because of the difficulty with solving the matter, which sadly I think is what they wanted. They don't care if I have money to feed my family or if they keep piling on over draft fees from my bank account. read more

They worked with me through a difficult financing of my rental property, and though it was long and drawn out, in the end they came through. My loan agent told me that a $350 re-appraisal fee wouldn't be charged, but I found out after the closing that it was charged. They were very professional and sent me a check very quickly when I complained about it. I requested a 10 day pay off quote from employee Russell ID #12951. After spending 20 minutes on the phone he advised me he would have to charge me 30.00 for the quote. There was absolutely no way around it. I refused to pay 30.00 for my own information. I hung up and called back. I spoke to another representative who contacted his supervisor and had the 30.00 waived. Russell could have easily done the same thing. I would suggest Russell get more customer service training. read more

I spent the last 6 weeks dealing with this internet direct lender. In spite of the fact that we have excellent credit and submitted ALL necessary documentation, they dragged their feet. Refinance rates were going up, so they just kept saying they couldn't get their end of the work done....and we would have to renew a "lock date" at a higher rate. There was just no reason for this, other than their desire for a higher rate. The mortgage broker I signed with has left the company.....and I can see why. Let me start with saying that LEGAL action needs to be taken against this company. My loan was sold to them 2 years ago and I was never once late for a payment. In early September I refinanced my home through another company. The Title company overnighted a check to Freedom Mortgage in mid-September for the purchase of my loan through the new company. I was continuously getting bills after this point from Freedom Mortgage in the email. I called to inquire on why I was still receiving bills since my home was refinanced and a check sent to them and secondly do I need to pay that month's mortgage in the meantime. I was told not to send anything, because it would confuse things with the refinance for the refinancing company. The guy that I spoke with said that their system is automatically generating the bills and to ignore them. Fast forward to 10/14/2019 I get an alert that Freedom Mortgage stated that I was 30 days late on my credit report. I immediately contact Freedom Mortgage and ask why this was done when they received a check in September. The person I spoke with told me that he doesn't show any money received and that there is nothing in their system. He told me that if he were me he would contact the people who I refinanced through. I did and fast forward, the title company tracked the payment that they overnighted in September. It was signed by Freedom Mortgage, but when they researched the check it was never cashed. The Title company did a stop payment and overnighted another payment. This time it was signed and cashed. They were both sent to the same address/department. I know, because the Title company sent me a copy of both tracking slips. My credit score plummeted over 100 points due to Freedom's Mortgage mistake. I thought at this point this should be easy to resolve with Freedom Mortgage and my credit will be repaired soon. The company that processed the refinance contacted their Freedom Mortgage contact about what happened. I was informed that Freedom Mortgage was going to contact me. I still haven't heard 1 word from them other than me calling a million times speaking to pretty much every department except for an escalations department which I was told they do not have. I now see why ; pretty much any call that they receive is probably an escalation based on the online reviews. The only department, which is still unacceptable, that tried to offer me something to do told me to email the tracking label to a customer service that was sent back in September. I then asked the time frame to look into this approach. Basically, there was no time frame. She told me that they have to go through all of their emails, so it is when they get to mine. Why am I going through all of this when due to them, I'm assuming losing the first check, my credit score has suffered tremendously. This place needs to be shut all the way down and again LEGAL action against them. read more

Stay far far away from Freedom Mortgage. After nearly 6 months since first inquiring, many false promises, and being held hostage financially for that period, I simply had to walk away. The absolute worst communication and customer service I have ever experienced. I have been through several refinances and new home loans over the years and I have never seen anything like it. The title company they use, Inspire, is horrifying. If the loan had gone through I wouldn't be confident in the job they were doing. They took months (yes months) trying to clarify a couple items on the title. One simple phone call is all it took for me. Freedom employees do not respond to emails or phone calls until you practically have to threaten them. They admitted to and apologized for their poor communication a couple times but then continued doing the same thing. After the type of loan changed due to misinformation they gave me and all the delays, they tried adding over $11,000 in points. This was their version of doing me a favor by keeping the rate as quoted. If you are working with Greg Clarke, Paul Moore, or Amanda Cunningham (at Inspire), you are in my prayers. I am currently working on a detailed timeline and complaint to be submitted by the Massachusetts Division of Bank per their recommendation. read more

As a Realtor I see a lot of mortgage companies but rarely leave bad reviews due to my profession, however this one is an exception. As a Veteran and a Freedom Mortgage customer myself I can absolutely say they are one of the worst ones to deal with. I have learned a lot about this company in the past year and can now say that they do not care about Veterans the way they say they do nor do they care about anyone they service. I have never been treated like a piece of garbage before by a company and that is definitely how they made me feel. They are not knowledgeable, will not admit fault even when its clear they were wrong, and you will receive a different answer every time you call unless you are calling about the most basic information. I will never use them again and caution everyone against contacting them for a refinance or new loan application. There are far better mortgage companies out there. Terrible, Awful, Ridiculous!!!! My mortgage was sold to Freedom Mortgage. In the 1st month, I received a phone call from a Freedom representative to ask if I was interested in a no income, no appraisal, no credit check refinance, which would lower my payments by $300 per month. I was advised that it would take about 3 weeks. I've received incorrect information consistently for months. 3 1/2 months later, I received a mortgage commitment. I was told that a Notary would come to my house to finalize the refinance - I told them that in Connecticut, a lawyer conducts the closing. I now have been waiting another month and no word from Freedom. I called the closing department and was told that I cancelled the closing - wrong!!!! The people I've spoken with cannot answer a question, you don't receive a response from phone calls or email inquiries. Their credibility has diminished in my opinion. read more

I've had a mortgage (3 different houses) for the past 12.5 years and have never missed a payment. We recently refi'd through this garbage company and will be refying again ASAP (6 months is the soonest). I wish I could give them the payments for the next 3 months now and refi now with another company to get away from the collections company. My understanding is if you are 15+ days late you will get a late fee. I have Neveerr had a mortgage company call me on the 3rd of the month ( a Saturday) to say "this is an attempt to collect a debt" WTF! I'm not even late. If it were the 16th, maybe I could understand this call. I was so put off by it, I told them do not call my phone again. I was about to go on line and pay it but now I think I'm just going to drop a check in the snail mail. Now its the 5th (don't judge, I'm oppositional), guess what, another collection call. Guess who's check just went into snail mail again. Not sure how harassing people who are not late helps! I would think you would wait until the 16th so that you could collect a late fee! Be advised! I have had 6 different mortgages throughout my life so far, and this is the worst experience I have had. I was recently deployed overseas and came home to a brand new baby girl, a toddler running around and 3 teenagers (so needless to say life was crazy at the time). After being home for a couple months and dealing with reintegration with my family, we accidentally missed ONE payment. We received the call from freedom mortgage and we apologized, and not only made the late payment, but the next one as well within 30 min of receiving the call. I found out today that the ONE late payment was reported and dropped my credit score by 100 points. After 2 hours on the phone, not only was I told there was nothing they could do, but that it would also take between 12 and 24 months for my credit to improve. I plan to refinance once I get home from my current military duty (even if it means a higher payment) Just to get away from this company. The first chance they get, they will hurt you and your livelihood. read more

BluFi has been nothing but a Terrible experience for our family. My Wife and I have very good jobs and make a decent income. With Excellent Credit Scores and an above the market Appraisal. We are going through Hell. Emails of frustration and anger we have to express in every response. We are exhausted providing the same information several times. I have been getting the run around for two weeks now over a very minor issue. We are at a point of canceling them. If it was not the appraisal fee owed I would be dealing with a different lender today. I truly regret every doing business with them. It is mostly the underwriter/investor ridicules reasons not to go forward. They always refer to the Patriot Act as another excuse. If I was applying for Home Security I would understand but I'm not. EDIT- I was contacted by someone at BluFi today that was professional and understanding. She had done her research before calling me to get an understanding of the situation, and assured me that they would continue to research it to prevent it from happening in the future. I was also told that they would honor the $500 guarantee which I appreciate. Thank you BluFi for taking responsibility and listening to my feedback. The sales person that convinced me to go with BluFi with was extremely helpful. He answered all my questions, and made a lot of big promises (including a $500 backed guarantee that they would close on time); he was very prompt with his responses, professional and well-informed. So why the 1 star? Well, if you're looking at this review, chances are you don't care about the sales person and their promises and customer service. You are probably concerned with how organized the company is after going into escrow, their communication at that point, and how fast they are able to close escrow. Well the team I worked with after I went into escrow was AWFUL. They promised me things were going smoothly (even after I found errors on their application. These were not small errors... they had the wrong purchase price and closing costs. In my opinion, it was completely inexcusable considering they had a copy of my purchase contract that clearly outlined these details). When I pointed out the errors, I was told that they were not errors, but it was a result of the document being a living document that was updated as information was available. But they had every single piece of information they needed from the beginning. Way to take accountability for your mistakes... This was my first time buying a house, so how I could catch errors they made and these "professionals" couldn't is baffling. I was told we were going to close escrow on time (even with their delays)... until a few days before we were supposed to close and I got an email saying we probably wouldn't close on time. After being told for weeks we were on-track, I was furious. When I tried to reach them... no answer. I called everybody I had the number for from BluFi and left messages with no response. Oh, and in case you're wondering... after weeks of being told not worry, they had a $500 guarantee for closing on time... when I asked them about that guarantee after realizing we wouldn't close on time, I got no response. At the end of it, I was just happy to finally close escrow and not have to deal with them again. The $500 would have been nice considering all the stress they put me through, but I guess it's just a marketing ploy. If you're considering BluFi, I would strongly recommend reconsidering. Staying on top of them, constantly asking for updates, trying to track down someone to answer your questions after you go into escrow is a full-time job... if you don't have that kind of time and don't want the stress, look elsewhere. read more

This is the worst mortgage company in the world! I did a VA Loan made automatic payments never missed one. I refinanced with another mortgage company and the new company missed my payoff date by a few days.. Freedom has now reported me as being late and it is affecting my credit. Even after every payment and I mean every one of them were on time....I have disputed this fact with credit reporting agencies to no avail and called twice to Freedom with no satisfaction....Clearly I will let everyone i know not to deal with this lender and I will keep disputing this forever until it disappears read more

By far the worst loan company I have ever used. They told me in the beginning they were able to close in 20 days. It took 8 weeks. I have excellent credit and little debt. They gave me a list of documents which I gave them and kept adding to the list. In one instance it took them a week to get past the fact that I declared $500.00 one time because I did not use my time share that year and rented it out. At the end of the process the money was to be wired to my account. I called on two different days and they said it had been wired and they did not know why I did not have it. BIG FAT LIE. When I finally got to talk to a manager, the money had not been wired because they lost the wire instructions. They were instead going to mail a check further delaying things. The manager told me if I sent him the instructions again before 3:00 he would make sure it was wired that day. This was at 2:30. I faxed them to his direct line within 10 minutes and waited until 3:15 to call back. He said we just missed the deadline. After everything finally closed and I received the money , I got an urgent Email that one of the documents I signed was incorrect and could I please hurry and sign a new one and send it back. Obviously at this point I jumped right on that (ha,ha). I am not sure anyone in that organization knows what they are doing. Good luck if you use this company!!!! read more

do not work with this company!! i'm a disabled veteran, served in the marine corps for 4 years as well as 14 years as a police officer. this company is horrible. i'm 47 years old and have worked with many mortgage companies in my life. recently refinanced over to freedom mortgage, being a veteran they seemed like the right company. they sent the wrong payoff amount to my previous mortgage company and added an extra $1,313 to my final loan balance. i notified them of the discrepancy and the fact they owed me $1,313. they have been giving me a run around for a month now and i'm unable to get any help from anyone who answers the phone. even reached out to my mortgage broker who set up the refinance and received no help. beware, use another company! read more

I applied for new purchase home loan with BluFi. Scott Ellwood, branch manager of SD office, is very helpful and prompt. He explained everything in writing whenever I have a question (I did ask many many questions). Appraiser got done promptly. I got full loan approval after about 2 weeks. Make sure to shop around first to see the rate you can get from several lenders. It will save you thousands of dollar if you can get the best rate available for you. read more

I have had a mortgage with freedom mortgage for half the length of time I have owned my house and refinance with them twice. they do reach out to veterans to tell them about lower rates when ever rates drop and they do all the leg work to get you that lower rate for you if you already have an account with them Which is super nice and makes the refinance process so easy.The first time was nice and smooth very easy to do. But the second time they called me offering me lower rates, they took three months to tell me it's ready to close, and the. Told me that I didn't owe anything for the next three months after I closed on the refinance. And then days later I received a bill saying that I am two months behind on my payments which was false. And I had to call a couple different times to get that fixed. ultimately they did tell me I do not owe the two months that they billed me for and that it was a mistake by a certain individual I forget who, but other than that haven't had any problems with them. the only other thing that is inconvenient is that their web site Is very basic and offers little tools or support once you log in, you can see your account and some information but you can not handle very many things there but the contact Information is hard to find for a while until you log in enough times. But it just wasn't to Pleasant to see a bill for two months worth of payments come in the mail, when I wasnt behind on my payments at all or ever have been, especially when I just finished a refinance and once it closed they gave me three months until my next due date, which was a major fail in communication between their departments. I did tell them that on a recorded line that I would have appreciated it if they communicated better to fix this issue and I hope they resume The level of communication they had during the first time we went through this same process. Because I did not call asking to Refinance, they called me offering me lower rates so I think it is only fair that since those services were offered that they make no mistakes in the refinance. Yes they did correct the mistake but that was a pretty huge mistake that made me pretty worry some about how I was going to come up with that much money because of somebody else's mistake. But it was fixed and my account is in good standing and we can now move on. read more

No Stars!!! My husband went into their offices after an online inquiry (they called right away). They ran our credit and had him bring in all the required documents. We left several phone messages to check the status with no return call. I sent (our rep) an email asking for an update and (our rep) replied "I will have some information for you at the end of the day"; that was 3 weeks ago and haven't heard from them since.
