They are so friendly especially Greg and darla they are the nicest; kindest; easiest to talk to; I also enjoy Armando as well he is so kind and he is very engaging to you which is very kind; I enjoy Darla's daughter she is so nice; I also enjoy Glenda and Dave and Russell and Carrie too they are so nice and they take time to chat with you and ask about your day that brings me joy. I also enjoy Dan he is very engaging to and is very kind. I enjoy frank as well he's a very safe driver and he's very friendly too and he chats with u as well. They are my go to cab pick. When I know I need a cab in advance, I'll call to reserve the day before. The operators have always been okay to me. Not exactly pleasant and friendly, but they get the job done. Drivers text, call, or text AND call before pick-up, which is fine by me. I'm always anxious before the cab comes bc I always wonder, "Are they really on their way?". I've used them 3-4 times and haven't had a single problem. My apartment complex is kinda huge, with different street addresses to make it even more confusing. Usually I just tell the driver I'll meet them down the driveway to simplify the situation. Rates are cheeeeeap! I can get to downtown from my apt for about $12. I always tip really well because I truly appreciate their service. read more

I requested to have four cabs from this service arrive at 8:00 pm at a hotel on a Saturday night. I requested the cabs at 4 PM, and the scheduler assured me they would be there. I called again at 7 PM to ensure that the cabs would arrive promptly, because we had a reservation for dinner at 8:30 in downtown Des Moines. They again assured me it would be no problem. They sent one cab, and then essentially told us at 8:00 that they would send another when and if they could. The dispatcher told me that they had independent drivers and could not gaurantee that the cabs would come to a call. I asked why they had said they could provide this service, and the dispatcher had no answer at all. This is an unacceptable and atrocious business model. I will never call this cab company again. read more

Literally set up an appointment got out of my appointment which usually takes only an hour, and what do you know business as usual. I had to wait an extra thirty minutes after my appointment just to get a ride home, and when I called back to check on the time it was going to take for them to picked up I was yelled at by a short fused man on the phone. Thank the lord I don't have to come back up for another appointment in West Des Moines. Good riddance! read more

Yes it's a cab service and roadside assistance but they are NOT MECHANICS! In all fairness the guy tried however charged and changed a part of my car that wasn't needed then asked me to order a part and he would install it, not to mention was supposed to be a professional and came to a job site of mine in a broke down messed up truck that got stuck and caused such an issue I was fired for hiring such an idiot that was late and took hours instead of minutes to replace something that didn't need replace! However is capable of giving a jump but after the fact never showed up to fix the problem because was not qualified to do more than talk a bunch of shit and make false promises. read more

I came downtown and noticed a driver standing outside of his cab at the cab stand taking pictures. Thought it was weird, but blew it off. An hour later, still standing outside, snapping pics of cars parked around and driving by, flash on so no mistaking it. Then watched him hijack a fare trying to get into another cab. I get being competitive, but that's next level creeper. Called the number on his car to report and they had no idea why he would be doing that. Steer clear, safety first everyone. Had a newsie cap, glasses and a shorter beard. read more

These ppl are WERID. They have a mobile mechanic service. He told me he would need 60$ to get the part for my car. He refused to send the tracking number and Continuously lied about coming to fix the car. When he finally gave me the part it only cost 20$. They're dishonest and shady!!!! I had my car break down on a Sunday afternoon. After having a tow truck drop the car off I call a cab for the long ride home. That experience was fine. The driver seemed friendly and polite. However the nightmare starts the next morning. I now need to get back into the city to attend work and work with the dealer on getting my car repaired or purchase a new car. My wife calls Freedom Taxi at 5am. They tell her that they don't know if they can have someone out to the house (about 30 miles outside of Des Moines) by the time requested (7am). She starts calling other cab companies. About 30 minutes later someone from Freedom calls back on my phone line. I ask the person to hold on because the wife is talking to another cab company and she'll be right with him. I hear the guy say something on the phone and hangs up. ... I redial the number that is listed and he hangs up again. I'm thinking to myself that this must be a joke or something is wrong with this guy's phone. But I know that it isn't a joke and his phone is working just fine. No, instead I was hung up on by someone working at the cab company after they called my wife back. It baffles me how companies like this can stay in business. I'll make sure to have a spare car on hand vs having to call Freedom Taxi again. read more

I regret giving this company any business. The operator was really impolite and just plain scummy when I called to schedule the ride. This first interaction itself should have indicated their business model, which is to be as mean as humanly possible. The cab arrived earlier than we requested and ended up leaving. I called the operator back and he was unnecessarily rude about missing the cab. I would NOT recommend this taxi service. read more

Freedom Taxi Cab will offer anything besides freedom--including a headache, long delays, and disappearing acts. I will NEVER use Freedom Taxi Cab again. We called for a cab to pick us up from the bars at 1:00am, and were told it would take 30 minutes to arrive. At 1:45 the cab had still not arrived, so we called back and this time they told us it would be almost another hour! At 2:30pm we ended up calling someone to give us a ride home, and I called the cab company back to cancel our reservation. They said that they didn't have my name on record as having a reservation, even though I called them 3 times prior that same evening. Never use this company. Help put them out of business. read more

Great service. Showed up early and got me to the airport in plenty of time. The driver was local and knew the best route. I had taken a cab from the airport earlier in the week and it was over $20 more, to and from the same locations. All because the driver with the other company wasn't local and took me the long way. This will be who I call for my future taxi needs in Des Moines. read more

We needed a ride downtown to a wedding last weekend. Called ahead in the morning to schedule a 3pm pickup. The driver arrived on time and she was polite enough.....but her car was a piece of junk. Had no air conditioning at all....she kept trying to see if it would work and blew hot air for at least 5 minutes....making it stifling in the cab. We had our hair done for the wedding pictures so did not want the windows down and to get to our destination wind blown. No shocks and rickety junky cab. Will never use them again. Should not be able to make money with a vehicle that belongs in the scrap yard. read more
