Old line company with a good reputation and reliable service. I own and manage rental homes, so I have had a bit of experience with Freeport Garage Door Company. They deliver the job you pay for. That's much more than can be said of most companies right now. Unfortunately the quality of garage doors has gone down in recent years while prices have increased. The last door I had installed was a pretty poor quality, no-name door. But it was cheap and that is what I wanted. I got what I paid for. What I didn't get was some of the small parts. The installer cut a few corners and I had to finish up a few things. I guess they have trouble getting good workers too these days. No major problem, and ten minutes' work finished up the job. All in all, I got a door up as promised at a low price. Everything went smooth. Good people and I would use them again if I didn't want to do the job myself. Freeport Garage Door unfortunately, did a sub-par job on my custom garage doors installation. First, after a very long wait for the special order to come in , the wrong garage doors were installed! These doors where ordered by my contractor, per specs required by my HOA , where Freeport Garage Doors apparently did several other prior jobs?! These wrong doors were not even installed with the required new garage door openers, and they left off the required weather stripping around the garage door jamb in the middle of winter (see picture) Then after another prolonged wait, they finally installed the correct doors, but could NOT install the ordered garage doors openers since they claimed they would not fit! Freeport originally came and measured the job, so why the incorrect garage door openers were ordered and provided was not clear. After a quick replacement with garage door openers that fit, my installation was complete, so I thought. Only to have significant problems within a few days, first with one of the garage doors due to bent "cotter pins" and then problems with the other door when one of the sensors fell off making the door completely inoperable (I attempted to re-attach, but could not) Additionally, they never installed the openers with lights (bulbs not included I was told), I gave Freeport an extra star in the review because they showed up to address the shortcomings, but none of this should have happened the way it did. And, one more thing, their office staff was not very nice when I started to complain about the installations and problems and requested a discount! They installed something on my garage that broke 1 month after the warranty... they came and said I needed a new one and wanted to charge me 200 dollars . It was only 1 years old. I called Freeport garage door to replace a garage door opener that I had for over 30 years. They provided same-day service, the technician was very friendly and very knowledgeable. Overall a very good price for the work that I had done. I had a small problem which I called and they could not have been nice enough. They instructed me on how to try to fix the problem, but also set me up with an appointment if I needed it. It was no problem at all. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Not what was I was expecting. I have spoken to a person twice, the initial phone call, desribing what I would like which included more than what they did. They left my bulb covers open for some reason and failed to replace the bulds. I was able to speak to the techician through my camera sys and said please call if you have questions. So I am dissapointed not only did they not leave me a bill or explantion of what they did not have in stock, when I call them on Saturday asking what was done, noone in the office knew. Today I get call from a woman and when I questioned the work- got defensvie and cut me off on the phone . I wont deal with that. A small bracket broke on my garage door. I had manufacturer and part number, I also sent a picture of the broken part at their request via text. I was told service call is $20 and would be credited if they did service my problem. I asked how much a minimum call could be, dispatcher would not give me an answer. I asked if they had the part and would the serviceman have one with him? I was told yes. The sent a gentleman within 2 hours ( very good) 1) serviceman asked me to open garage door... If I could do that I wouldn't need him... 2) He did not have the part 3) He told me he could reattach the broken part with 2 screws for $125...... I gave him his $20 and told him to leave. Freeport garage door was not honest and tried to take me for a ride. Not honest business people. read more

The estimate was well below what others were quoting. I selected my door, the style and placed my order with Donna. I have always used Freeport Garage door company. They replaced my garage door opener, and then later the springs. The springs were replaced in August 2018 - but the cable completely broke 1 1/2 week ago - only 8 months later. There was only a 3 month guarantee. I have found out that Freeport Garage Door company is now using inferior parts. (from China) This is the reason the springs broke so quickly. read more

Freeport told us general price over the phone that was less, so we asked them to come and give us a quote. It was the same price, which was nice. Karen was very responsive via email. Made an appointment for someone to come give me an estimate for 3:30. At 4:30 I called and spoke to a women who said she was the owner, she told me he'd be there in 1/2 hour. I explained to her that I rushed home from work to make sure I was home. I also asked if the guy could wait 10-15 minutes as I had to go grab my daughter. Her response was NO, she was rude and unapologetic. She spoke to me in a demeaning manner as if I was crazy to even ask, even though they were an hour and 1/2 late. Needed them to look at botched job that One Stop Garage did 4 years ago. They made an appointment and gave me 3 hour window during the day. Of course I have to take off of work. On the third hour, I call for a status update and I'm told technician can't make it today. No call..Nothing unless I call them. It isn't possible to speak highly enough about Freeport garage door. Some 15 years ago, they installed a new door, and, opener. Today is the 1st time it has required service. The service men showed up on time, (and in fact were able to meet my last minute schedule change) fixed the opener with in an hour, and, programmed my car to open the door. Yes there is a service charge, but, that is to be expected, as they are in business to make money. Sending two men, a truck, paying insurance, wages... is not free. Total bill including the service charge and parts was less than $200.00. read more

I first used Freeport Garage door when I had to replace my garage door and opener after Hurricane Sandy. I didn't have the time to price around and I used them based on recommendations from neighbors, but was very pleased with the results. I later used Freeport to fix a problem with my opener and found their service department to be top notch. This past spring I renovated the outside of my house and wanted to change the garage door to match. Freeport helped me find a door that matched perfectly with the house. I priced the same exact door at one of the big home improvement stores and at one of the big warehouse clubs and was surprised that Freeport had the lowest price. Don't use these people for your services. Karen who works in the office is EXTREMELY rude with every call I made to them. One of their men used foul language at my house and then left my premises without doing work. They charge higher prices than other companies. When I called to question their services Karen said to me " you call here five times a day every day" instead of politely explaining their policies to me.
