Above and beyond! I took my dog there because my regular vet was closed. My guy was lethargic and…read morenot himself. Turns out he was running a fever and of course it was Friday. Dr Barlow gave him IV antibiotics and suggested I leave him hospitalized. On Saturday he was doing a bit better and Dr Barlow suggested he stay the weekend to continue treatment. But not in a cage at the office, but she TOOK HIM HOME so he would be more comfortable in a home environment and with her three dogs. Wow! That's dedication and compassion. I'm so glad they were open and available for my fur baby when I needed help.

I really did not want to leave this review; but if it can save others the awful experience I have…read morehad, I will. I brought my dog in for abnormally fast breathing. Dr Barlow stated it was from his teeth and didn't run test. I took that as great news. She sent me home with antibiotics and got him set up for a teeth cleaning. The antibiotics ran out before the teeth cleaning so I called in some more because I didn't want any infection to spread (if there was one) but.. why wouldn't she have done that? I was getting close to the scheduled teething cleaning, and I was still worried because my dog's breathing was STILL SO fast. I didn't want him to die from anesthesia, so I called and they told me to bring him in. I bring him in for pre surgical test (his levels are normal) and an xray where she said he my have bronchitis or the human equivalent of asthma, tested him for heart worms (negative). They l gave him a histamine based med before his teeth cleaning on Wednesday because that should help with the breathing. I take him and my other dog in (she was getting spayed, we will get more into that later) and I drop them off. She calls me and is NOW worried about his breathing, (what I originally came in for.) she asks me to send his X-rays to a specialist.. so of course I do. She comes back saying my dog has fibrosis in both lungs. At that point I black out and she says something about his trachea. I am physically, emotionally, and mentally drained at this point. In tears for days. My mom tells me to go get a second opinion, so I did. THEY SAW NONE OF THIS. So I am not only down $500 or so (they did refund me my visit fees) but back at square ONE of his issues. Nightmare, but at least my dog doesn't have a death sentence. Now to my sweet girl who went to get spayed. Everything seems to have gone well. She just let me know there may be some bumps at the ends of the incision and that would be normals. My dog wore a recovery suit constantly (except for washing and she had her cone on). She is still young and active so she did run around a bit. She seemed to be healing, but slowly and the two bumps at the end of the incision would not go away. I sent pics because I started to get worried. The incision itself looked fine (other than the bumps she said would be normal). I asked to have a post op follow up because it was directly from the spay.. the receptionist on the phone stated the vet said since it was three weeks out it wasn't related. Ya. Okay. All confidence is lost at this point. Decided I didn't not want to deal with them anymore; lack of accountability is wild. I go to the new vet I took my other dog to, and yes, it was infected internally. We got on some high dose antibiotics and she is fine. I am now going BACK to my new vet because the dissolving stitches are NOT resolving and the incision scar is lumpy. I will update from that appointment, but PLEASE save yourself the heartache, stress and money and go to another vet. They may be "affordable but it is not worth what seems to be cost savings. (I am now paying much more to get proper diagnosis and healing for my dogs.) The office manager was great, one of the receptionist was kind. The other seemed to hate her job, people, and pets. For Dr Barlow. Take responsibility for your work, admit when you cannot help. And listen to your patients rather than dismissing their VALID concerns. Veterinary medical center of Athens is not far, go there and save pet as well as your heart and wallet the pain.

In 2021, I took my dog to the (now) Mexia Vet Clinic to be spayed and to have a tumor removed. On…read morethe day she was scheduled for surgery, they never got to her. I was called to drive back and pick her up, and I was told to bring her back on a different day. Because she was prepped for surgery, she had not been given food or water all day. After her surgeries had been completed on a different day, I arrived to pick her up. I was then informed I needed to leave to purchase a cone collar from Tractor Supply because they were "out of supplies". As instructed, I arrived back at the clinic with the cone, I checked out, and then I had to load my 60 pound dog--with zero assistance from the staff--into my vehicle. No one offered help, even though I was visibly pregnant at that time. After some time had passed, my dog came back in heat. I called the vet's office and spoke to the office manager, Belinda. She explained that a piece of the uterus was "left behind". The only method of reconciliation she offered us was an exploratory surgery (at no additional charge), where finding said "left behind" piece would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Feeling uncomfortable with taking my dog back to the same clinic--where she had already undergone one failed/incomplete surgical procedure--I requested compensation so I could attempt to have the problem solved elsewhere. After being told the aforementioned, with no budging on Belinda's end, I moved on. I did not want to put my 9 year old dog under their treatment/anesthesia again. At the end of August 2023, I took my dog to another vet office for an issue unrelated to her heat cycles. The vet at this clinic had her medical history following "surgeries" listed above. After his evaluation of her, his medical opinion was that the surgery of having her spayed was most likely never performed. She still has cycles, and he found no indications of scarring or tattooing. He recommended that I call the original vet's office, relay his findings, and ask them to make the situation right. Belinda, the office manager, was not helpful (yet again). Furthermore, she was unapologetic and she completely lacked sympathy. She continued to blame their incompetence and their lack of professionalism and etiquette on their "new ownership". To hear how eager she was to let me know they would not reconcile in any way was sickening. Belinda not only could have handled the situation in several different ways, but most importantly, she could have carried out her message without the smug attitude. This line of work--BELINDA'S line of work--deals with not only people but their beloved pets as well. The way in which our local vet handled this entire situation is sad and disheartening. I paid for a service that was never done and I was treated like an inconvenience at every turn. It is my most sincere hope that the new owners will address all aspects of this terrible situation, and that they will move forward into the future of their company with more care and compassion. I would like to point out that I have never had an issue with any of the other employees in the office. I understand this is new ownership, but it appears as if most of the staff remains the same.

VERY POOR quality of care…read more I brought my 8 month old dog here because he had a broken leg. They inserted a rod implant and cerclage wire. My dog is very rambunctious and it was difficult for me to keep him extremely still for healing. I asked them multiple times for sedatives to use at home and they refused to give me anything other than anti-anxiety medicine and told me to give him Benadryl. I told them none of that worked for him and they still refused sedatives. My dog was hospitalized (AKA crated 24/7 with little to no human interaction) at their request about a week after surgery due to his misplaced rod causing blood to pool under his skin and pour out from his incision. While being "hospitalized" his surgical procedure failed due to him freaking out while being crated. They STILL refused to give him any sedatives to calm him down. He also came home after 3 days completely dehydrated (dark orange urine) and he had lost a significant amount of weight. I took him to Texas A&M Small Animal Hospital the day after I brought him home from Buffalo Animal Hospital and they immediately gave him pain medicine and sedatives, took an X-ray which "showed implant failure (broken cerclage wire), pin extension into the stifle joint, and soft tissue swelling associated with the proximal aspect of the pin." They consulted with their orthopedic surgery service and they recommended revision so fracture repair due to the implant failure, pin extension into the stifle joint, soft tissue swelling, and concern for possible implant-associated infection. I am not happy with the outcome of this surgery nor the tone in which I have been spoken to by the staff at Buffalo Animal Hospital. On multiple occasions they accused me of "letting him run around" causing problems with his surgery when in fact I have only done exactly what they've told me to do. I firmly believe if I would have kept him home, and not brought him there to be "hospitalized", he wouldn't have broken the cerclage wires and his implant wouldn't have failed. Now I have to bring him to yet another veterinarian to do the surgery to fix what Buffalo Animal Hospital has done to my dog. I will never be back here and I will tell everyone about my experience.

She had first called her primary vet, who after so many years, told them..."we have no one to help you, you'll need to go to a&m for after hours care". My parents were so distraught, knowing that Pixie was in pain, and my mom at the last minute, called your office. Y'all stayed open for them, you examined Pixie, and though it wasn't what any of us had expected, y'all were there for every minute. It meant so much to us what y'all did. My mom told me it seemed y'all truly cared for Pixie, despite meeting her for the first, and last time. Also, thank you so much for the little card!! My mom loved it, and though it brought all the tears back, she will always keep that card nearby. Thank you for what you do, and for doing it so well. You can expect us to make our next appointment with y'all!!

On a recent road trip (coming back from a family funeral out of state), our dog was in (what we…read morelater came to understand was likely cardiac) distress. We made an emergency stop at Animal Care Clinic (it was the closest to where we were on I-45). In a whirlwind of panic, we brought her in. The ENTIRE staff stopped what they were doing, rushed to our aid, and began trying to save our girl. Sadly, our fur baby passed and we were forced to finish our multi-hour drive home without her. Today, in the mail, we received the most incredible and thoughtful gesture. The staff of Animal Care Clinic signed a sympathy card and included our baby's paw prints with it. They also included a seed card to allow us to plant flowers in remembrance of our girl. We are not their customers. We have never given them business - they did not even charge us for the work they did while we were there. We will probably never see them again...And yet... This incredibly compassionate and dedicated staff saw fit to not only do everything they could to help strangers in need, they followed it up with a level of kindness and sympathy I have never experienced. THANK YOU! Thank you to each of you who tried to help. Thank you for allowing us the gift of time to grieve in your exam room (displacing the many other people waiting in your lobby). Thank you to each of you who signed the card. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity. We can never repay your kindness.
