Disclaimer: I stayed in the budget room for two with shared bathroom, and found the standard rate of 100 euro discounted by 40%, so I am rating the hotel from this perspective - as someone who wanted to experience Vienna on a budget. I don't know how often they provide these discounts, but I suggest contacting hotel, as it's worth a try.
And for a weekend in Vienna on a budget, it really was an ideal experience.
VALUE: I couldn't find a single ho(s)tel in the historical centre or even in the districts nearby for a better price by far. The value is really phenomenal, because the central location saves you a lot of time (it takes 10 mins to get to the heart of the city centre from here) and money (no need to use the expensive metro).
LOCATION: Ideal! It's ten minutes away from the main historical Stephansplatz square, and thus in walking distance from most of the historical centre sights. The hotel is located conveniently five minutes away from the Schwedenplatz metro station so you can reach the hotel easily from wherever you're arriving (or if you wish, you can order the hotel's transit minibus directly from/to the airport). But beware, it's located on an 8th floor (no worries, there's an elevator) of an otherwise inconspicuous residential building with only a small sign, so make sure to watch out for number 14 at Postgasse, as the small sign on the building might be easy to overlook and pass.
THE ROOM & TOILET: Small, but cozy and spotless clean. Even the cheapest room offered had a nice warm shower and a washbasin, so despite the shared toilet, the place did not feel like a hostel and provided a comfortable experience. The shared toiled was shared only among a few rooms on the floor, and was always kept perfectly clean. I was worried about that part, but it did not end up bothering me at all.
WIFI: free, good signal.
BREAKFAST: is included in the standard rate. It's from 7-10pm as a continental buffet. I thought the variety in the buffet was excellent and on par with more expensive hotels. There were three types of cheese & three types of ham/salami, eggs, muesli, some fruit, cakes, plenty of orange juice and milk. Every guest also gets a pot of tea/coffee/cocoa. This is not one of those places where you have to worry about coming late and finding one piece of salami left for you - staff kept bringing new food all the way until 10am.
RECEPTION & PERSONNEL: Reception is available on the phone 24/7 (in person until 10pm) and very helpful with advising you how to get to places etc. All personnel was very kind and welcoming.
Overall, I had a great experience and I think this is a gem for a budget conscious visitor to Vienna. I would not hesitate to come stay there again if I were to come back to town. read more
