I'm very disappointed in Fremont Hills the price you pay is not worth the care they give to your loved ones. My nana was in the memory care and they charge you for everything for example if you want their nails or toe nails to be cut that's an extra charge. I had to come every two weeks to do my nana's nails, her toe nails would be so long that she could barley walk a short distance and her feet would look bruised I don't think they had her shower often because I would come over and the bottles of shampoo and conditioner would be full if you want to treat your loved ones to great care I wouldn't count on this place. And before I left they gave me someone else's medication. I've also seen a staff member yell at one of the residents. Also make sure the doors are locked because anyone will walk in. read more

Fremont Hills on the surface gives the appearance of an upscale adult living facility, however, once you get past the appearance they are like so many other senior care facilities, focused on money for the least amount of adequate care. Our family member had been a residence of Fremont Hills for a number of years. For the first two years things seemed to go pretty well, then Fremont Hills was purchased by a large corporate entity (Watermark Retirement Communities). Shortly after the change in ownership, many changes began, from large increases for basic housing, exorbitant rate increases for additional personal assistance, to a dramatic decrease in the quality of care and service. Not only is there insufficient staff available to provide service, they are inadequately trained to provide care. I strongly recommend that you do not bring your loved ones to this facility! read more

Fremont Hills has been a huge blessing for our Mom. She moved in almost two years ago into an Assisted Living apartment. She is safer, healthier and better cared for than we could do when she was living at home alone. They did an especially awesome job when she had to have surgery on a toe last year. It needed special care twice daily and monitoring for months. 5 months after there was an internal issue requiring another procedure, and they stepped in again and ensured it healed up properly. We are a very happy family and Mom compliments the friendliness of the staff, how nice it is to be waited on and cooked for, and how she appreciates not having to worry about being alone. read more

My husband lived at Fremont Hills for 3 1/2 years. He had a progressive degenerative disease. He could not have received better care. Fremont Hills is warm and inviting. The people are friendly, kind, and compassionate. There are beautiful common areas to meet and visit in. The thing that I found most striking is the lack of turnover among the staff. That tells me that the staff is treated well and like their jobs. I came to know each and every one by name. I was always met with smiles and a warm greeting. I would give zero stars if I could. I have a loved one who we recently moved out of this facility due to their gross incompetence, mismanagement, and endangerment of residents health and lives. There were two recent (and possibly continuing) Covid outbreaks in this facility, and they failed to follow standard protocols to keep resident safe. There have been significant and continuing leadership changes and turn over in the staff leaving huge gaps in care, subpar cleanliness, and generally inadequate attention to residents. It's a shame that this once quality facility has fallen so far. I would warn anyone considering moving their family members to Fremont Hills not to. read more

I had visited several facilities in the local area trying to decide where my mother would be best taken care of. Within 2 minutes of walking through the door and meeting Rhoda, I knew I had found a new home for my mom. I signed up on the spot. I brought my mom by to visit the next day and Rhoda was wonderful with my mom. She even whispered into my moms ear that she would never be alone again. My mom fell in love with Rhoda. Since moving in my mom has become comfortable after only a few days there. She loves the food and is eating very well. Rhoda checked in on my mom and it made my mom feel special. I cant say enough about Rhoda. She is an angel on earth. Fremont Hills is a well run facility, excellent chef, excellent front desk staff, excellent management. My mom did not want to leave her home of over 50 years and now I can assure you she doesn't want to go back to her home. She now has a new home. Rhoda my family loves you! read more

My mom has lived in the non-memory care area for over 5 years. Ownership changed a couple of months ago and we see a few changes. My review incorporates reflects the status quo. Positives: 1. The staff is genuinely friendly and caring. There is a few less than stellar folks but overall the staff is fabulous. 2. The staff is attentive to my mom's needs. My mom is also respectful of them. It's a 2 way street. 3. If you eat anywhere 3 times a day for 7 days a week, the menus get old. As a visitor, I'll eat my mom's leftovers and they are tasty! Do try their homemade scones! My mom doesn't have dietary restrictions. I'll let people with no sugar, low sat restrictions speak for themselves. 4. The place is clean and my mom's room is clean. 5. Planned activities and field trips are frequent and keep residents busy and their minds active. The Chinese residents also enjoy a Chinese activity director who has separate activities to keep them busy including dim sum outings! All residents can partake in both and do. 6. The residents are nice overall. Neutral: 1. The room and board costs went up Jan 1, 2015. Compared to other facilities, FH is still a good value. Choosing a home is a personal matter. The place is a strong fit for my mom and definitely is worth consideration by others. read more

I've been here a few times to visit my grandfather, and I finally have to write a review after spending Mother's Day and Father's Day at Fremont HIlls. The food (buffets) were really good, and all of the staff was so NICE. Most importantly my grandfather seems really happy there, and says that everyone treats him like family. If I could give them ZERO stars I would. The facility is very nice looking, almost a hotel look and feel but once the honeymoon is over and they have your money and loved one(s) the party is over. If you remember college dorm life where the RA's would manage the floors, well the staff here at "Fremont Hills" has the same amount of training. If you have a CPR certification, you can work here as an aide caring for seniors making pennies an hour while the facility charges the family thousands of dollars for a specific level of care. NEEDLESS to say, you DO NOT get the level of care you pay for. They say they offer diabetic meals but they feed everyone the same food and don't think twice about it. I can go on and on but will sum it up into one word "INCOMPETENT". Paying over $4k a month, I guess one can argue who the incompetent one is? ;-) My wife finally got frustrated with the lack of care and lack of peace of mind she was promised and decided to pull him out and rent him an apartment with a live in nurse, at least she will be able to hire a fully trained and qualified person not some unqualified person Fremont Hills puts into a nice uniform for appearances only and yet has no clue how to care for seniors! If your loved one is self sufficient and independent but wants to live in a nice looking senior community then this may work. If your loved one needs help with daily tasks because of mobility issues due to stroke or other impairment, or even dementia or Alzheimer's then stay away from this place. They do not provide the level of care services they agree upon and charge you for!! BTW, if the staff knows your coming to visit a loved one, they will put on the most caring and attentive act for you but that is not what really goes on when you leave. Take a minute and talk to the seniors who live here and require assistance with daily tasks and they will tell you the real story. My wife was here daily Mon-Sun because she had to monitor the staff and tell them how to care for her father, the nurse in charge (Blythe) has no clue how to communicate instructions to her staff and no one else cares. read more

My mother lived at FH for over two years. As her dementia got worse there was a good effort to keep her healthy, safe and happy. However, when she did need some health care they completely fell down on the job. Her skin nearly rotted under her bandages when they claimed they would unwrap her when they got wet, but didn't do so. As she lay dying, in hospice care, we became aware that her apartment was infested with roaches. They sprayed when we complained but the roaches were back in two days. They said they were "between contractors" for pest control. So, the night she passed away, as we sat holding her hands, we watched roaches march across the picture frames on the wall. Someone stole her ring from her right hand when we weren't there. When I complained, they blamed her, saying she probably took it off and misplaced it. The problem with that claim is that she couldn't get the ring off - over her knuckle - someone had to have used soap or lotion to remove it. The only time we removed it before that was when she was in the hospital and she cried when we took it off - it hurt her physically to remove it. Also, when she passed, we searched every nook and cranny, pocket and container. Someone at FH stole her ring right off her finger. We were about to move her when she became sick and had to enter hospice care. read more

My daughter and I attended open house one Sunday and were looking for a home for my daughter. Every staff person welcomed us with kindness. Although Fremont Hills turned out to be a super nice, clean and orderly place, it did not provide the care my daughter needed. The staff suggested another place and called to set up an appointment. A couple days after that appointment, the staff followed up and to see if that placed worked. The fact that the staff not only suggested another place but cared if it was satisfactory, certainly described the gentleness and thoughtfulness the staff offered overall. I was extremely happy we went to Fremont Hills. We enjoyed the open house very much and the food was great! read more

I read the other two negative reviews with surprise. My mom has been a resident at Fremont Hills Assisted Living since the end of June 2011. She is 88 years old, pretty healthy and independent. She has really flourished at Fremont Hills! She loves her little studio, and appreciates the laundry and cleaning services. The management and staff always greet the residents with a smile and a hug, and my mom participates in the morning exercise classes daily as well as the weekly field trips. She is stronger since she has been at Fremont Hills, and now even takes the stairs instead of the elevator! Fremont Hills has a really nice feeling to it, very homey and comfortable. It doesn't have the "feel" of a nursing home--it is more like an apartment setting. I visit her at least weekly and talk with her daily, and am very pleased with the entire facility; mainly because she is happy there. I have eaten several lunches and dinners in the dining area, and while I can't say the food is great, it suits my mom just fine. They provide her a special breakfast that she prefers, and they have options for the lunches and dinners for variety. She loves that there is always fresh fruit or cookies available for snacks, too. The management is all very friendly, and takes a personal interest in each of the residents. They keep the facility very clean, and as a nurse that is important to me. There are so many activities for the residents to participate in, and it is clear that the management really cares. They make alot of effort to have fun things for the residents to do, and my mom tries to join most all of them. Perhaps there is a difference in the Memory Care area (she is in the assisted living area), but I am very pleased with Fremont Hills Assisted Living. This place is a godsend, and my mother is very happy there. I had offered to have her live with me, but she said she would be bored; that Fremont Hills offers her so much more stimulation and activity! So for other yelpers out there that are searching for an Assisted Living facility, please don't be put off by the negative reviews. I am so happy to have found this little gem of a facility tucked in the base of the hills in Fremont, the prices are very reasonable, and my mom is happy there. What more can I want? read more

My wife was forcefully placed here without my consent. I was told that she was under 24 hr care. She has recently fallen and received 20 stitches for cuts and scrapes. My husband and I moved to Fremont Hills Assisted Living June 1st, 2015. We wanted a place that would allow us to be together the rest of our lives. We are 90 and 91. The memory care facility and assisted living are in the same building which is a plus for us. While Ken was in assisted living, his care givers, medical assistance and staff were kind, efficient, caring and knowlegable about his needs. My husband passed away September 30th. The special care I received was remarkable. It was handled with dignity and compassion. I have been made welcome to stay as long as I want to. My space is clean, my laundry is done weekly and I DON'T HAVE TO COOK! The food is Great! Oh and by the way, they have a variety of activities including our monthly 9 hole Golf tournament and yes at 91 I can still play! read more

I want to just say how grateful I am for the numerous dining events, Chef Dan and his dining staff put together for the Fremont Hills residents and their families. We seem to have a dining celebration on a monthly basis. For a very reasonable price, we simply get to drop in and enjoy a restaurant quality meal, barbecue, or dessert function with our loved one without the worry of preparing a meal or transporting them to and fro. Great service from the dining room caregivers too. You can really tell his staff know their clients' wants and needs fairly well. They recently cut all employees' hours budget. The cafe used to be opened at 6:30am, now changed to 7:30am. and dinner serves at 4:30pm and use to served at 5:30pm. Most of the seniors wake up early and they have to be starving couple hours until it open. They only offer snacks such as "hard to chew apple and very hard crackers" and "hard to peel orange" in the lobby. My mom complaints about the food is not tasty and meat is always hard to chew all the time. Eating is the most important thing for seniors. Overall quality is going down the hills. read more

My Mom has lived at Fremont Hills for 8 months. I have found the Management and staff to be so friendly. It was hard for my Mom and us to move her, but everyone made her feel at home pretty quickly. Fremont Hills Assistant living is not a place for your parents. I placed my mom there end of August 2011 and removed her in December. The Executive Director Joan Newman, is not educated in Dementia or even works with familys for those who needs to understand about this desease. My mom has Dementia but was allowed to live in assistant living area, Mom,had to get use to living in this type of environment and we were told that the facility would assist mom in getting use to this type of living and we would take small steps to get her there. Week 2, Joan suggested to throw my mom down into memory care and drug here. She wasn't allowed to sit downstairs in the lobby, while mom was waiting for her family to pick her up. Everything mom did, we had to hear about it the first 3 to for 4 weeks. Joan, also talk to us and padded herself on the back, due to another resident went into Assistant Living, in one week, he was down into Memory Care. The food is horrible, rooms are okay, but I do have to say there are a handful of workers there, that are great. I would do alot of research before you place your parents at Fremont Assistant Living, don't go by the cheap price they offer, in weeks they will increase the price due to the level of care. Speaking of Level of Care, our first week, I thought it would be an advantage by getting Level 1 care, which Joan just made up for her benefit. Level one care, included, Shower monitoring, escorting to the dininig room or activities and night watch. Well, the Night watch happened but none of the other requests happened, but they did charge the 400.00 fee to the statement. When I brought this up to Joan, the obvious, no respond. And they have a Nurse on site, now that is a Joke... everytime I had a question, she would tell the receptionist that she was on the phone. That's great, but she could have returned the 4 calls afterwards... I am just glad it was not an emergency!!! Do your research, you can get more for your money, elsewhere. read more

As a medical professional who visits many senior care communities, I am compelled to report the excellent care I continue to witness at Fremont Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care. The caregivers (certified nursing assistants and medical technichians) are very caring and highly skilled. I have observed the wellness director and memory care director training their staff on an ongoing basis. The community itself is beautiful and elegant, but even more importantly I see that the seniors are happy and active in their home there with kind staff who encourage the seniors to join in the many activities to have fun, excercise, and be entertained. There is also a Chinese activity program and great Chinese food which is vital to our Chinese seniors. The care and activities programs have been of good quality yet I have seen enhanced quality enhanced over the last several months. I would want to know these things if I were looking for a caring community for my loved ones. It is important to experience any senior community that you are considering for those seniors who are dear to you. If you are looking for assisted living or memory care then set up a time to tour and do your research. And sooner is better than later when you have an urgent situation so you can make the best decision. read more

It was not easy finding a place for my mom who has mild to moderate dementia, especially because she didn't want to move and is still pretty independent. However, when we first toured Fremont Hills, there was an immediate connection and since she moved in 3 weeks ago, my mom is more alert and is very happy to be there. The caregivers and staff were extremely attentive and quick to learn about what my mom needed to help ease the transition. She enjoys the activities and social hours and has found the other residents to be very friendly and welcoming. Rhoda was our first contact there and I often see her around the property with the residents making sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying their day. Actually, from what I have seen, the entire staff does a great job in helping to make everyone comfortable.
