Our two sons have been in Mr. Simon's classes for the last two years, and we just enrolled them for another year. We can see their improvement in fictional writing style and persuasive organization. With input from our kids, our thoughts on why his classes are so effective: * Mr. Simon's expectations of disciplined work, enforced with a sense of humor, motivates his students. Oftentimes my kids would tell us the jokes Mr. Simon told them. * Mr. Simon provides personalized feedback for each student, but done in the class such that all can benefit from his teachings. * Mr. Simon also advises the parents not to intervene with students' work. Initially it was hard on our helicopter parenting style, but soon I found that without our meddling, our kids became quite proactive in doing their assignment. Mr. Simon provides for both in-person and live online during class hours, but I'd recommend students attend in-person whenever possible.

Her results speak for themselves: National Merit eligibility on the PSAT, a 36 on the ACT (single-sitting), and a 5 on the calc AP. As caveats, she is extremely bright and is an inherently good test-taker, and we were proactive about selecting her tutors to match her personality and scheduling needs. That said, I had no significant complaints. Jill and Alex were responsive and worked to conform to our requests, and our daughter found her assigned tutors engaging. And she, in turn, did the assigned work. We originally found Compass via recommendation by parents of an older student who had already used them. We, in turn, have now recommended them to parents of younger students whom we know. We told them the same thing I'll now tell you: Compass isn't the cheapest option, but I suggest you use them anyway. To us, the results were well worth the expense.

We previously had a different tutor for my HIgh School son. I had to drive there, wait for 1 hour…read moreand then drive home. It took 1 hour 40 minutes minimum out of my day, plus it cost $95 an hour. Now the tutoring was not bad, and we made the sacrifice because he needed it, but then he needed a second tutor for chemistry. That's when we decided to look elsewhere. With Tutor Sync we can afford 2-3 tutoring hours a week and they come to our home. Rish is the owner and he knows what he's doing. He paired up just the right tutors for my son. We didn't have to switch, because they were both great. I kid you not I was a little hesitant at first, but boy did they change my mind. Ronnie is his chemistry tutor and he is super patient and knows his stuff. Nickhil is his math tutor, this kid is so mature, patient and wow is he smart. Yes, the tutors are young...but these kids are gifted. Because of my son's heavy schedule the tutors come to our home on Sunday morning. This week and next we adjusted the schedule, because of Easter and spring break. They're pretty flexible. I wish I had known about Tutor Sync before, but better late then never.
