The variety of Activities at The Inn are perfect for the Residents that live there. Melissa does a wonderful job! The Care Managers/medical staff are awesome at making sure the Residents are included in the Activities, if they want to attend them. The Housekeeping staff are great as The Inn community always looks clean and smells fresh. The front desk concierge ladies are always helpful and friendly. When I am not there with Mom, I feel secure that she is in good hands at The Inn. I have been very impressed with the Aston Gardens Community, and have been telling all my acquaintances about how great it is. Kathryn C

I think the care and commitment to the community starts with the staff who clearly feel a personal investment in their work. The same director has been there nearly 20 years! At the same time, the residents are engaged and active in a way we did not see at any other place we looked, which was all over the North East US and in Florida. At Aston Gardens the residents are up and about, engaged in arts and music inside, or outside gardening or playing bocce or by the pool. The residents welcomed my mother with little notes and invitations to join them at a meal or a walk. The facility is beautiful and there are so many opportunities to explore new interests and keep fit. As examples: multiple residents, on their own initiative, asked me how they could best welcome my mother, as they remember being "new." Also, the saleswoman we worked with continued to visit and spend time with my mother and send us updates, long after the contract was signed and her role was completed. They check in with me (the daughter) in a friendly way that makes me feel like a member of the community too. Thank you!

A special shout out to Jessica Jayroe, who epitomized the service received. It didn't seem to matter what anyone's job description was, if help were needed, they saw it was provided.

For the last two years, my wife and her sister visited numerous facilities, determined to find a place where their mom would truly be happy. But time after time, something was missing. Their mom was understandably reluctant to move. She had deep emotional ties to her apartment--it's where she had lived with her late husband, and leaving it felt like leaving part of him behind. Then they discovered Tuscan Gardens. From the moment they walked in, everything felt different. The staff was warm and welcoming. The community was immaculate, bright, and full of charm, with cozy nooks and inviting spaces around every corner. They spoke with residents who genuinely loved living there--and it showed. Still, the biggest test was introducing the idea to their mom. They brought her to visit... and she lit up. She loved it! The decision was made, and she moved in shortly after. Now? She's thriving. She has a big smile on her face every day. She's surrounded by friendly, caring staff in a beautiful, healthy environment. For our family, it's been a huge relief. We finally have peace of mind knowing she's not just "getting by" but actually enjoying her days. That confidence and comfort are priceless. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Tuscan Gardens! And a special shoutout to Barb, the activities director--she's an absolute gem. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and she takes the time to personally connect with each resident. We love watching her in action when we visit. :)

Wow has this place gone downhill quickly - mainly after Hurricane Ian (Sept 2022). It was…read morepreviously one of the highest rated in Venice and I thought we had found a hidden gem. My MIL recently moved out after 5 months. As we live very close we saw all this first hand. When she moved out almost all the former staff had left - and more have left since - in fact one manager made it only 3 months. I am afraid that says something about management at the corporate level. Food had been fairly bad toward the end and at one point they were asking people hired for management or activities to cook and some of their spouses even showed up to help. Server turnover was unreal as they expected servers to also clean apartments. Corporate should have handled cooks leaving better. 3 meals per day are included and if that means you have to have it catered or bring a chef from other locations then that is what should happen. Dang even go to Costco and get food! You should not be having managers attempt to make grilled cheese sandwiches (which they burned btw. The units do not have cooking facilities (only a fridge and sink) so residents depend on the food service. Transportation was to be provided but at one point the driver quit - another one was hired but eventually failed a background check. Then management told residents they would have to "find a their own driver" if they wanted to be transported. Many residents do not have cars or should not be driving this is unacceptable. They only have one elevator that is shared by everyone and it is not dependable. Pool had still not opened 5 months after the hurricane (maybe it opened in the last month - who knows). Roof is still in need of repair after the hurricane (6 months now) - I drove by to check. Beware they have no generator. Until improvements happen look at someplace else for you or your loved ones. Do not listen to empty promises of coming improvements.

Mom is on a restricted diet due to her heart and high blood sugar as well. She was very unhappy and dissatisfied at Emeritus. She has moved back to her home. The facility and grounds are very nice. The rooms in D bldg are very nice. This bldg has central air the other older rooms have a noisy window unit. Laundry was done once a week and her room was cleaned as well. I purchased (for $100) the necklace with a locator for emergency use. The room has two emergency cords to pull but I wanted mom to have the neck chain so she could buzz for help anywhere on campus or if she had fallen somewhere in the room where she could not reach the provided cords. I was guaranteed her call would be answered quickly and that response times are recorded by a computer. Mom was to use the buzzer whenever she needed help of any kind- not just emergencies. Unfortunately , this did not live up to its reputation. Mom would call for help and no one would show up for hours and a couple times it was the next day. I had the buzzer replaced several times thinking it was broken or the battery was dead but it never really worked. When I returned the necklace at the end of her stay, I was not reimbursed for it. The social director came to mom's room the day she arrived. Mom was busy with the nurse at the time. The social director said she would return another time. She never came back. Mom was never introduced to any residents, never asked about activities she enjoyed, never asked to join in on an activity, nothing! Few activities are provided in D building. Residents must walk across the campus to attend what little is provided. This walk is too far for many of the residents. The most creative ideas for activities are bingo (can't we switch up with some bunco?) and trips to Walmart. Mom is a bridge player, pinochle player, avid reader, crossword queen. No one tried to help her get other people together for a game. Why not start a book club discussion, a garden club(grow some produce and herbs), a bird watching group, anything! How about a bus to take interested people over to the hospital where a bridge club meets(it's only a few blocks away). Invite the high school choir, dance club, and band to play. What an excellent community service. Why not a "meet your new neighbor "tea? Emeritus advertises that they will meet dietary needs. They DO NOT provide special meals. Everyone is served the same food. They say they do not salt. However much of the food is prepared elsewhere and simply reheated at Emeritus. Foods like ham, bratwurst, tuna fish, hot dogs, pork, breaded fish or chicken, pizza, tacos, canned mushrooms, cheese are all naturally high in sodium. A choice between ham or cheese pizza is not a salt free choice even if Emeritus did not salt it! I asked if the coffee was decaf(it was in a decaf pot) and was told they only make regular. Regular coffee is not usually a part of an older person's diet. There was never a sugar free dessert item offered. For people with high blood sugar or diabetes this is deadly. The food is heated in the main kitchen and wheeled over to D building. It is served lukewarm at best. I would like to know exactly how much money is allotted per day per person on food. I was told it is less than $5. I hope that isn't true as the residents are playing $100 a day for their stay. Dinner time is often the one thing the residents have to look forward to. It is a time to socialize and get out of their room. It should be worth going! We also had trouble with pills. Sometimes only one of the needed pills would be brought in. Mom would ask them to come back with all her pills. They did not. If she was late getting her pills( after being out) she was told it was too late to take them. Pain pills that were kept in her room were stolen. (As well as jewelry). Emeritus preferred to say mom had misplaced them. She had not! We had high hopes that Emeritus would be the answer for my mother. It was not. My mom wanted to stay in Englewood as this is where her friends, activities, and doctors are. The rooms are probably the nicest in this area. But assisted living is about a lot more than the room.
