I always wonder why business owners refuse to claim their businesses on Yelp. I am far more impressed with managers and owners who respond to reviews, especially the harsh comments. ~While getting lunch for Father's Day, we picked up a strawberry cheesecake. It was delicious.

Pastries is the go to for this place when my family and I come and visit. Was recommended by our uncle who moved there and it was top notch

Financier and coconut macaroons.

Lots of good looking french desserts. I have tried the French macaroons, coconut macaroons, eclairs, and financiers... love them. Also sampled the roast beef croissant sandwich... It was okay. Honestly I highly recommend just coming here for the desserts because they do a really good job. Service is very nice. Like the friendly and positive energy.

I've been going to French Memories since I was a child living in the South Shore. Now that I'm 30 and live in NYC, I realize just how special it is. I will always love the cinnamon croissants, and have become loyal to the strawberry croissant, the spinach quiche and the Paris Brest over the years. The staff is so friendly & the vibes are perfect. All they are missing is a bathroom for customers. I love this place & have yet to find a place in NYC I love more which is why I feel compelled to write this review.

Friand & Petit Fours kiwi tart
Lindsay M.

It's really hard to find a french bakery really anywhere around here, and i'm so thankful that the only one around here is the BEST one i've ever been to. Everything I've had there is so delicious, it's so worth it for the 30 minute drive. They have a large assortment of pastries, they also serve sandwiches made to order and have coffee and other beverages as well. The workers are always so sweet and welcoming. If you're going and you're discouraged by the line, just know it's worth the wait if it's a bit busy on the weekend! They have a lot of customers for a reason The bechamel and friand are delicious, especially warmed!

Unfortunately, by the time we arrived, most of the baked goods were gone, and that is what we went there for so we were able to try a ham and cheese croissant and also a chocolate croissant. They were good, I feel like I need another experience to truly be satisfied because it looks like a cool place with Good potential, we wish there were more pastries we could've tried but they were all out. I will have to go back and try a coffee. Prices are a little bit on the high side. There is indoor seating. Service was good. Parking is available in the lot.

Beyond their…read moreexceptional everyday pastries, this is a place that truly shines when it comes to beautiful custom-order cakes and outstanding pies. Their custom cakes are not only visually stunning--clearly made with precision and pride--but they also deliver where it matters most: flavor, texture, and balance. These are celebration-worthy cakes that look as good as they taste. The pies deserve special mention as well. Perfectly baked crusts, generous fillings, and flavors that feel classic yet elevated. Whether fruit-based or cream, they strike that rare balance between homemade comfort and professional execution. Across the board, everything here reflects care and craftsmanship. Cakes are moist and well-balanced, cupcakes are indulgent without being overly sweet, cookies hit that ideal texture, and specialty desserts never feel mass-produced or rushed. There's a clear understanding of restraint and technique--nothing gimmicky, just excellent baking. Consistency is another standout. Whether you're grabbing a quick treat or placing a custom order for a special occasion, the quality never wavers. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely proud of their work, and the shop itself is warm, clean, and welcoming. Sugah Hill Bakery isn't just a Hanover favorite--it's one of the standout bakeries on the South Shore. The kind of place you recommend confidently and return to often.

Thank you for your generosity agreeing to deliver to them (I was many miles away) to the nursing facility so they could focus their efforts supporting their loved one. The food I was told was spectacular! Pleasing to the eye AND absolutely delicious. Carefully crafted sandwiches full of flavor, chips, and a beautiful salad. "Perfect 10" were the shortbread bars with chocolate glaze! Chips and cupcakes! Needless to say, there were leftovers which makes for a quick bite to eat later on. Local Gem! #grateful! 1/25/24

However, the bakery itself was rather crowded with some picking up an order while others waiting patiently for their food. I went for the tuna sandwich but opt'ed for sourdough instead of rye. The tuna was pretty good, with a reasonably seasoned fish and not too much mayo. The sourdough was toasted and held up well. The butterscotch cookie was fairly chewy and soft, though perhaps a tad too sweet for my taste. Check-in on Yelp and you'll get a free "pastry", so I can't complain too much with a free cookie. With a sandwich, free cookie, and a drink, I paid nearly $10, which wasn't too bad with the cookie. The decor is clean and a bit cutesy, without it inducing a vomiting posture. Like many writers here, the wait time is longer than other equivalent places. Fortunately I didn't have any more pressing matters that day, so I could afford a check on fb...or two checks.

Artisian Hearth Gourmet Brioche Rolls: A bun can make or break the perfect burger or sandwich…read more Artisian Hearth's gourmet brioche rolls are baked at state-of-the-art, quality-controlled bakeries in St. Cloud, MN., Sun Prairie, WI., and Fargo, ND. Before I jump into how they taste, I want to address what a brioche bun or roll actually is. A brioche bun is a rich, slightly sweet, and soft French-style bread. It's made using dough that incorporates butter, milk, and eggs. Those ingredients contribute to the roll's signature golden color, fluffy texture, and buttery flavor. The brioche's high fat (although this product has just 1.5g) and egg content creates a moist and absorbent bun that's perfect for burgers and sandwiches. Artisian Hearth's product tastes like a quintessential brioche roll to me. All of the above qualities seem to be checked off. I absolutely love the thick, fluffy, and pleasantly chewy texture. It doesn't hurt that they are also visually appealing with their golden color. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews

Nice buttery aspect but something off-tasting too. -- Ginger Cookies: Chewy, bendy, and pleasantly strong ginger flavor with no aftertaste. Heavy on the sugar crystals. Easily the best of the cookies. -- Lemon Ginger Shortbread Cookies: Not bad. Definitely buttery and interesting tartness. A little of that "off" taste I can't place. Friendly staff. Easy parking. I should note that the bagels looked good, and we didn't try those, so that might have tipped the scales more in their favor. Again, nothing was bad. Better than supermarket bakeries for sure-- just not on the level of the better bakeries in Boston.
