I swung by here after having some business to attend to nearby, and elected to give this spot a try. There are a few other businesses around, but the day I went, the area was quiet. However, the bakery itself was rather crowded with some picking up an order while others waiting patiently for their food. I went for the tuna sandwich but opt'ed for sourdough instead of rye. The tuna was pretty good, with a reasonably seasoned fish and not too much mayo. The sourdough was toasted and held up well. The butterscotch cookie was fairly chewy and soft, though perhaps a tad too sweet for my taste. Check-in on Yelp and you'll get a free "pastry", so I can't complain too much with a free cookie. With a sandwich, free cookie, and a drink, I paid nearly $10, which wasn't too bad with the cookie. The decor is clean and a bit cutesy, without it inducing a vomiting posture. You can tell Foodsmith really puts love and pride into their food. I always look forward to my morning breakfast sandwich. All the ingredients are high quality and they actually spend time to cook your food (unlike other places that will microwave the egg). Aside from the delicious assortment of breakfast sandwiches they also have amazing baked items like monkey bread. The owner and staff are extremely pleasant, great people. I got a chicken salad sandwich and it was the worst chicken salad I have ever had. The chicken was watery! I have never experienced watery chicken. I assume it maybe sat in the water too long after poaching? Also, barely any mayo and it took a few bites to detect any spices. No flavor whatsoever and just watery chicken texture. My partner and I stopped by for a quick lunch today (Tuesday). He ordered, paid, and we waited outside. When I went in to ask about how long the order would take, I was asked to pay again. I did because I had assumed they would know, but I was wrong. We then went back in and were promised a refund, fine, thats cool (one mistake is no big deal). No apologies later, we came home only to find that the chips we had ordered were not in the bag, and that my sandwich was entirely wrong. A complete waste of money. Do not waste your money on the avocado toast. My son ordered it and it was One small slice of bread with avocado spread so thin you could see through it and bean sprouts on top. No slices of avocado, barely even green it was spread so thin. What a waste of money. On top of that the bread was over toasted and burnt. My husband and I both ordered the smoked salmon bagel, it was so burnt and hard it was terrible, my husbands had a full ice cream scoop of cream cheese on it and mine barely had a half teaspoon. These people have delicious sandwiches, but they are disorganized and inefficient. I went in the other day, and a lady was taking orders. I gave her mine. Instead of handing it to the kitchen, she spent another five minutes taking the order and chatting with the person in back of me in the line. When I paid, my order was still not in. I really hate to give a negative review because the staff here are super nice and so friendly but God, it's sooooo slow!! As others have mentioned, you can expect to wait 20 minutes + for a sandwich. Also, it'd be great if they made their veggie soup with veggie stock instead of chicken stock! They add all of these delicious vegetables and the soup sounds so incredible - until you read that it's made with chicken stock. Duh!! So much for the only plant based option on the whole menu! I love the Foodsmith! I will mote, I've only ever been in for breakfast. I like to see what new, interesting bakery items they have. I think my favorite so far has been the lemon ginger scone and the lemon blackberry muffin (I love lemon). Unlike a lot of grab and go places, I actually really enjoy their coffee! The iced coffee is a bit weak for me, but I like my coffee pretty strong. The service has always been great. It's small, sometimes only 2 people on, so you do need to wait if there are other orders in front of you. I don't think I've waited more than 5-10 minutes though. I took it to go and when I unwrapped it, I was looking at quite possibly the most beautiful breakfast sandwich I've ever seen.
