I found this place on yelp and it is Excellent ! My croissant was so flaky and fresh. I ordered an iced Americano with chocolate and it was delicious. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This place has so many pastries, cookies and some prepared soup. The ambience is cool for work or meet a friend. They have free Wi-Fi. They have outdoor seats and inside. I spotted this cafe on my way to the 103st subway station. I needed a quick dose of caffeine and a pastry, and people sitting outside attracted me to come in. For a small space as it is, there is plenty of seats. You will find not only pastries and coffee, but also food such as salads and avocado toasts. There is a section to shop for cookies and other similar items which is certainly an interesting choice. I had the white hazelnut coffee and the Croffle, which apparently is a waffled croissant... I mean... I had to try it! It did not disappoint. I was skeptical but turns out combining my two favorite foods makes it even more perfect! WOW. After spending time in Harlem Meer today, Rochelle and I decided to finally visit. We were greeted by the wonderful employee, Jayden. I was in the mood for an iced pumpkin sweet cream chai. Rochelle wasn't sure what to order, thus, Jayden suggested the Tennessee cream chai. As we waited for our chai to be prepared, we browsed their cool French products sold like Pims and Madeline cookies. Jayden shared that the owners, Perrine and Aurelian, are amazing. They came from Evian, France and their dream was to open up this shop! I hope to meet them in person one day! Our chais were ready and we drank ours outside. My pumpkin sweet cream chai was literally to die.. for..the texture and taste were incredible. The best chai I've had! Rochelle also loved hers. I cannot say enough about these local special coffee shops. Yes, I drink Starbucks, however, if there was a Frenchy near my house, I would be patronizing it daily! What an amazing little slice of Paris in the heart of Spanish Harlem. I found this place while surfing online......an hour later I was trekking there during my lunch hour.....and my job is no where near here but I had a hunch (especially since I love all things French) that it would be worth the trip and I was right. You walk in and it is pastry and coffee nirvana. Having been to Paris one two prior occasions I had that familiar feeling walking in with the scent of bread, fresh croissants, pastries and coffee tantalizing your sense of smell. Perrine one of the owners (the wife) greeted me with a bright smile and her lovely French accent when I walked in. She was absolutely lovely and engaging with the small conversation we had together. Perrine made by far the best latte I have had since traveling in Europe. I ordered the brown sugar maple latte iced and in hindsight I should have ordered two. I also opted to try the ham and Brie baguette which was warmed for me and was superb in every way from the fresh crunchy baguette to the thinly sliced ham with a whisper of Brie. I also ordered the cinnamon danish. There are several seats inside and outside seating (available on warmer days). I loved the fact they had multiple French products for sale, from béarnaise sauce, pork liver confit, duck foie gras just to name a few items. The only down side was it was extremely hot inside (not sure if this was caused by the oven or the heat was just cranked up high) but that's just a minor issue that is an easy fix. I wish I lived in Harlem I would have Frenchy coffee on heavy rotation for my go to coffee and sweet spot. I know I will be back I loved everything I ordered. read more

This was my first time at Frenchy Coffee NYC and I am so glad I stopped in. Firstly, the staff is great. The cashier was gracious enough to answer my many questions and the barista was friendly. The white pistachio cold foam cold brew is to die for. I also saw a good mix of people sitting and working on their laptops versus hanging out with friends in the outdoor patio, so this place, strikes me a good vibe for both. It's also not too far from Central Park, the conservancy garden, or the museum of the city of New York, so I definitely recommend popping in for coffee or a bite to eat before hitting those attractions. read more

Offering a wide selection of books to read, great playlists playing, and streaming tennis matches and other sports live on the projector, this is much much more than a coffee shop or cafe - it's a neighborhood hub! Routinely see other regulars here and the baristas always seem to remember their orders and names. On the food and coffee front, you can not get better in East Harlem!! The coffee is excellent- from black drip to the flavored lattes. And the pastries ARE INCREDIBLE. Blueberry and cheese danish is better than anything I've had in New York, but it's impossible to go wrong with any of the selection. The soup and sandwiches made fresh taste more like home cooking than a NYC coffee shop :) In terms of a rank among other NYC coffee shops I've been to, Frenchy absolutely takes #1! I love French food so I was happy to stumble upon this spot while walking the neighborhood. The quiches looked incredible as did their pastries. I only had a chai latte that was very enjoyable. They have savory as well as sweet food options including a croissant waffle. I stayed at the community table in the front of the shop for a while. The space is bright with lots of art and plants. The Starbucks on 96th street is one of my go to but it's little walk comparing to Frenchy's. I love their ginger and turmeric shots. Try their everything croissant with bacon egg and cheese. I've been visiting this cafe as a member of the community for the last 2 years. Never had an issue until this morning. I always have my order taken by a nice woman and she's always sweet and pleasant- the staff is always quick and pleasant. I stop in every once in a while, because I appreciate that they have different flavors of matcha. This morning- I was greeted by a man he took my order- I paid. Nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered iced Lavender Matcha and a plain croissant- I got halfway up the block and realized that I was missing the croissant so I turned around to go get it. I politely mentioned it to the man who took my order (apparently, he was the manager) I told him I was missing my croissant and that I didn't really like the taste of the matcha and would I be able to maybe switch out the flavor. He immediately snapped at me letting me know that he wouldn't be able to give me a "free drink because flavor is a preference- it's not his fault that I don't like lavender and if I wanted another drink I would have to pay for it"- keep in mind I never said that I wouldn't pay for another drink- every time I come in this establishment I pay and never have an issue doing so. At this point, I was taken aback because his attitude and tone were just completely out of line. He told me "we are a small business and this is not Starbucks" and he "couldn't give me a free drink". I reminded him I never asked for a free drink and I'm fully aware that this isn't Starbucks- I continued to explain the matcha wasn't sweet and I wasn't satisfied with my order, and suggested maybe he could have them add more syrup. After yelling and raising his voice and cursing at me- he was motioning for me to give him the drink and that he would have the baristas add more syrup. I politely told him never mind. After asking for the manager, he told me he was the manager- there was no corporate I could reach, because again this was a "small business ran by he and his wife"- realizing it was a lost cause. I took the drink, threw it out- in the trash and left. I wanted to take the time to share this experience with ppl like me who are from Harlem and were thinking of giving this "small business" in OUR NEIGHBORHOOD a try. This establishment is owned by a very nasty and distasteful owner. He's rude, mean and disrespectful to women. One would think being a small business owner- he would be more mindful of how he spoke to his customers. I will NEVER visit this business again, and if I were you I wouldn't spend my hard earned money here. For me it's the principal- and the pure lack of customer service. This is a little café situated on the corner of Lexington Avenue and 102nd street. If you're coming from uptown then you know the hill from 103rd to 102nd via Lexington Avenue is brutal. I assure you, the walk up that hill is totally worth it and you'll be happy you burned some calories after seeing the pastry selections! The coffee and the pastry are out of this world. Service is quick and staff are pleasant. My only issue is trying to make a decision between the danish and the croissant, but have learned that there is no wrong decision. My personal favorite is the blueberry cream cheese pastry. The everything croissant Close second. The space itself is quaint and cozy. If you're wanting to hang out, relax and enjoy your coffee in house then there are plenty of seating options. Located on the corner of 102/Lex, Frenchy is a brightly lit corner coffee shop that has floor to ceiling windows, a good amount of outdoor plantlife, a cute outdoor wooden porch, and a fair amount of indoor seating. During the summer, it gets a little hot as they don't turn on the A/C, but otherwise the iced coffee really hits the spot. The servers are always so friendly and the shop is clean and welcoming. Just a block down are some pizza shops and a community garden; just a block up is the 103rd street station. It's one of my favorite places to catch up with people or to do work. It's more friendly and welcoming than any of the chain shops that are scattered throughout midtown or lower and worth a look if you live anywhere near Harlem. Central Park is also only a 7 minute walk away! The menu also has a good variety of teas, lattes, and plain coffee. read more
