We dropped in here after a recent 10K race in Central Park to enjoy some hot coffees and pastries. Cheerful staff, nice decor, clean and bright. Even an outside enclosed back patio area. Great addition to El Barrio neighborhood.

This place is perfect. The vibe is serene and warm. Art, plants, fantastic coffee, baklava made with pistachios (vs walnuts), great outdoor space, super mellow indoor space. In his book The Timeless Way of Building Christopher Alexander coined the term "a quality without a name". A place that just feels right. That's this cafe.

Yes, a kale salad and a guava waffle. Stay with me. The salad is fresh, savory, and hearty, especially with the grilled chicken. Then comes the waffle--warm, slightly sweet, and topped with guava rum butter that melts into every little pocket. Oh my goodness. Taking a bite of the savory chicken and kale, followed by that soft guava waffle, gives me the perfect sweet-and-savory meal. It should not work as beautifully as it does, but it absolutely does. And the brown sugar latte? Always. It's smooth, comforting, and sweet without tasting like someone poured syrup into a cup and called it coffee. The space has the easy, unhurried feeling of a neighborhood coffee shop, but the menu is giving a real brunch experience. It's cozy and beautifully lit during the day--the kind of place where you can settle in and enjoy yourself without feeling rushed. The service matches that energy. Everyone is attentive, kind, and genuinely knows the menu. They always greet you with a smile and give you exactly the right amount of small talk: enough to make you feel welcomed, never so much that it interrupts your peace. The atmosphere, the people, and that guava rum butter keeps me coming back.

STOP LOOKING. ORDER FROM LUCILLE'S RIGHT NOW…read more The pizza is truly remarkable. The crust is perfectly crispy with a fluffy center. The toppings and combos are delicious. Make your own if you're not feeling theirs. It's worth it. Also writing this review because they are just quality people. I ordered a vegan pizza with some toppings but wanted pepperoni and that wasn't an option. I made a note asking if a substitution was possible, knowing it likely wasn't because of a price difference. I'm not vegan, but I needed a dairy-free alternative since I am breastfeeding a baby with a cow milk protein intolerance. The LOADED up my pizza. Truly stand-up humans. Thanks, Lucille's, if you're reading this: you made my night!

While I was there, I accidentally spilled my bland Dunkin' Donuts cold brew on the floor. I felt terrible, but Naadirah was so reassuring and kind. She told me not to worry about it and handled the situation with such a chill and positive attitude; it truly made my day! I also tried their vanilla iced latte, and it was smooth, not overly sweet, and made with a delicious mix of oat milk and macadamia nut milk. The place is small but has chill vibes. I've seen some of the other reviews, and while I haven't been to the cafe in the morning, I've always come in the afternoon. Even a few weeks ago, when I picked up a TooGoodTooGo bag, the barista was pleasant. Yes, I'll definitely be back!

I ended up starving and looking for a place in the neighborhood for a breakfast sandwich. Rimar looked good from the outside, there were a bunch of banners announcing them as a "brand new" business having a "grand opening". Once inside, I realized that was probably not true. Looking around, I didn't see any coffee nor was there any kind of posted menu indicating the possibility of breakfast sandwiches. The man behind the counter was friendly enough though, and took my order for 2 bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on a roll. He also indicated that he DID have coffee. Great! While I was waiting in the store for 15 minutes for my order. I noticed a woman (maybe another owner) casing the place down and staring at everyone who entered. I noticed that the rest of the store sold only a bleak selection of junk food. There was nothing interesting on the shelves! I noticed a man and woman come in, have an entirely transactional conversation and then leave, buying nothing. I noticed two separate hipsters walk in, look around and then walk out. I waited and waited. Finally, my order was ready. Without any register or paper calculations, the man told me my order was $10 exactly. Not feeling too good about that. The coffee was super hot and actually ok, I think he brewed a fresh pot on my request (thank you for that). The breakfast sandwiches were pretty awful. Greasy eggs, strangely chopped and super greasy bacon, you get the picture. I think Rimar could really do much better. They are in a great location without a lot of direct competition, in a neighborhood, that I am certain, would support a nicer deli with expanded options.

I love how crispy the bread is. Sometimes the bacon is a little too salty for me, but I still love it. The sandwich is huge so it's good to split with someone. I wish the pickle was a half or full pickle instead of the quarter. I get this with their spicy espresso sauce and that's really good, too. The ceasar salad was overdressed. Their burger is good and so are their fries. Portions are large. I also like their spicy latte and they have an iced oat milk rooibos tea that's very good. Their espresso martini is also very good. I like to drink my coffee black, but the coffee here wasn't hot enough for me. Their pastries are solid, but not something I would buy again. I've tried both their sweet and salty pastries.

Some people might really like the coffees with a ton of add ins, but it's just not my cup of tea. The sandwich also was falling apart - I needed to use a fork and knife to eat it. The service was friendly at least, and it was fun to listen to the Britney Spears albums they had on.
