So I called and scheduled an appointment one month out. It started good with a text message in the morning confirming. In fact, they texted asking if anything changes to let them know. Time ticked by. I asked for an ETA, then I get another text saying: "Thanks for checking in. Your HVAC maintenance is scheduled between 1 PM and 4 PM today, but due to a high volume of emergency calls your technician is running behind and there is a chance we may not be able to make it today. If you would like, we can look at moving your appointment to another day instead, otherwise you will receive a text update as soon as a technician is on the way." Basically a nice way of telling me I should reschedule. I said no. I already stayed home all day waiting. Time past. So I texted them again and said "so you guys are a no show?" And as I suspected, no respond whatsoever. I knew from earlier they would be a no show with the text messages I got. Terrible company. Like in many trades, it was difficult to a find professional who was responsive and could show up on time for the initial inspection. Granted, this in itself must be difficult for HVAC business owners to accomplish when the heat is on and calls are coming in from everywhere. We had seven people show up. Of the seven, only four delivered a bid. Fred was not the cheapest, but he also did not quote a ridiculous sky-high number. Remember, quality doesnt come cheap. Fred won my confidence since the beginning. He answered all the questions I asked without hesitation. He tells me he has been in the trade for 20-plus years, and I believe him. He is knowledgeable and confident. Perhaps what I liked most was his "can-do" attitude. He was able to schedule the work in just a few days. At the time of install Fred showed up with a big crew, 6-8 people and everyone was ready to go. Fred walked the property handing out instructions and promptly let everyone get to their assigned tasks. I have to say, I have rarely seen a team that is as well synchronized and overall efficient as Fred's team is. I dont mind that they were finished with the project earlier that I anticipated. I prefer it that way! At completion, everything was spot free. (Fred's son was here, and he kept reminding everyone to clean as they kept moving) I was outside briefly and I heard Fred showing his teenage son how to do certain things. That was what motived me further to write a great review. School is out, why not have you kid tag along with you? Re: the new unit: We've been using it now almost daily for about a month, now that the Valley summer is here. The unit has been working phenomenally and without a problem. I have a good sense of how much this work should cost based on recent estimates I got on another mini-split, so I believe that AC Kings' quote + bill was market competitive. But to be honest (and maybe I'll regret saying this out loud), I would probably pay just a little extra for Oscar's expertise and detail-oriented work. It's clear he knows his stuff. To support this last point, I should note that technically AC Kings came by a THIRD time to our house--on accident, because they were helping out my neighbor (who also said their work was excellent). I asked Oscar and his crew to check out an electrical problem we seemed to be having with our old mini-split. He did so and then didn't charge me for it. Can't recommend AC Kings enough.
