I have my HVAC systems checked 2X every year....summer and fall. The technicians are knowledgeable and personable. Most of my neighbors have already had to replace their HVAC systems, some several years ago, while my Carrier system is still running strong after 12 years. I hope to get a few more years out of it. I think routine maintenance and keeping things clean, including the duct work and heat exchanger, along with high-quality filters that I change every 6 months, have made the difference. My last carrier system was still running fine when we sold our 20 year old house. Most folks just run their systems until they die. That is an expensive choice. read more

What could improve. Training, ethics, professionalism, etc. Based on a neighbor's recommendation, Fresh Air (FA) was called when the AC in one zone was not cooling. The first FA tech diagnosed the problem and initially said it was a bad fan motor capacitor. When that didn't solve the issue he then said it was the fan motor but FA didn't have a replacement motor. He then recommended the complete compressor/condenser unit be replaced. I agreed his recommendation. Shortly two different FA techs arrived to install the new unit. Several hours later they advised the new unit was installed and working. I advised that the zone was not cooling. They said I was wrong and left. After calling FA the next day a fourth FA tech arrived, went to air handler unit in the attic and advised that a dampener was stuck closed. FA advised that they could fix the problem for another $500-$600. I declined their offer. BTW the two FA techs that installed the new unit walked in our house with muddy boots, destroyed one of our azaleas, and drove over our yard and damaged a drain pipe. FA has never offered to replace the azalea or fixed the damaged drain pipe. read more

Poor service and communication. I called and explained that I was having trouble cooling my upstairs portion of my house. I was offered a program that was $299, that would essentially clean my ducks and replace my filters and service my AC systems for two times a year. When the service man actually came, he informed me that the $299 cost actually included something totally different, something much more basic that was not what I asked for. Total disconnect between front desk, staff and actual workers. Service man spent all of five minutes upstairs in my attic before coming down and charging me $125 and in a very misogynistic tone explained to me I'd need to pay another $1300 to get everything done that I'd need. We purchased our new home back in June and it was mentioned in the inspection report that the AC wasn't cooling like it should. Over the course of a few months, we had a few AC companies out to refill the refrigerant and they all said we had a leak in the evaporator coil. We got quotes from several companies on replacing the coil as well as a full system replacement. We did research online and decided to go with a full system replacement due to the age of the unit and chose a Carrier system. I'm really glad Carrier's website directed us to Fresh Air. We worked directly with Chandler throughout the whole process and he was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. If he didn't know the answer to one of our questions (not surprising since we did a whole bunch of research - we're those kind of people haha), he got right on the phone with the owner or his service department to find the answer for us. Our new system is installed and the install process was quick and easy, faster than we were expecting! Chandler even dropped by personally the day after to make sure everything is working properly and that we were happy. I can't recommend Fresh Air enough. My Carrier HVAC system no longer cooled the air so contacted my home warranty for a repair request. The AC contractor wasn't able to come out till Friday (2 days later). I couldn't wait that long so I went to the Carrier site to find another local Carrier dealer to repair my system. Fresh Air was recommended so I called them and they came out same day. The Tech was able to quickly diagnose and repair my AC system. It was a bad Dual Capacitor. However, I was told that my 3 year old Carrier system was not under warranty because it was not registered?! Huh?? I didn't want to argue since it was a 90 degree day and it was 82 in the house and I have a 1 year old baby. So I paid the full cost of repair. I did contact Carrier later to clarify my warranty and they said that I AM covered under warranty and that it's for 5 years.. 10 years if registered. Needless to say I am pissed and am now in the process of requesting a refund from Fresh Air. Maybe it was a mistake on Fresh Air's part but sure feels like I was scammed. We'll find out what they have to say. Lesson learned.... know your warranty before having repairs done! Update: 6/20/2018 After contacting Fresh Air, they did refund me the cost of repair for the AC. They didn't seem to know that unregistered Carrier systems do have a 5 year warranty versus the extended 10 years if registered. As an authorized Carrier dealer they should know the warranty on the products they sell and service. I have increased their star rating to 3 stars as the warranty was my only issue with them. I am going to start off with that I am no expert when it comes to home A/C unit.However I do have some knowledge of an A/C system and the cost of refrigerants. My A/C systems takes the 410a refrigerant it holds a max of 11lbs. Air Fresh came out for a service call(95.00). I think that is a fair price and not complaining to much on what was done. They said my unit was severely low and was going to charge me a flat rate of 352.00 for the refrigerant. My biggest problem with that is , where is the refrigerant going? If I have a leak the leak should be fixed or at least tell me where leak is coming from.The second issue I have is that Low does not mean empty so they would have to recover my refrigerant that is all ready in there and should use a scale to measure what was taken out , example unit holds 11lbs , they recover 5lbs ,, I need to pay for 6 lbs. A 25lb of 410a cost about 150.00 on high end. Where does 352.00 price come from? Why would you not recover system , check for a vacuum,not holding vacuum , pressurize with a dye , look for leak.I am just asking. read more

Very thorough, and honest. We expressed up front that we had concerns related to dust and that we thought we might need cleaning. Their Sales Rep and told us that for a house our size it would be a fairly expensive service to clean the entire duct system, and she recommended that they instead inspect / service the AC-system and make a recommendation after. Their tech came out right at the scheduled time (huge plus for service company), and our dogs really liked the guy which is a fairly solid litmus test we use at our house. He then did a thorough inspection of the duct work and serviced our AC system ($135.00) The main reason for the 5 stars was he and the sales rep were both extremely honest with us and told us our AC system and duct work are good to go and at this time don't need the more expensive cleaning service. read more

I signed up for the maintenance plan - They serviced my 2 AC units and found things my previous company did not - dirty coils, dirty filter in an overhead air vent.. nothing that cost me extra but things that needed attention. Fresh Air charged $85 for service call- Tech who came out, I think his name was Arturo, tried to tell us our a/c problem (that had been malfunctioning for days) was due to the thermostat- and he could install one for $250. (i can get one retail for $50). He did not accurately diagnose the problem- did a poor review of the system and we still had a non-functioning a/c when he left.... I received a recommendation for Fresh Air to replace the entire HVAC system in my downtown condo, which had nearly reached the end of its life after ten years and was not originally set up in a straightforward manner. After getting several other bids, I elected to use Fresh Air based on their experience with condos, their overall good reviews and the superior quality of the Carrier equipment they were providing. The entire staff was very helpful in explaining what I needed and addressing any questions I had, and the install itself could not have gone smoother - they were in and out of my condo in less than half a day. Now, two months later, the system is cooling extremely well and I cannot wait to see my monthly electrical bill come down. A guy came out and service our AC a month ago and said there might be a leak on our coil and might need to get replaced. He supposedly put freon . I was out there with him but don't know how much he put in for sure. Not one month later the same unit has same issue. This time I had someone else come out . Was told that who ever worked on it last did not tighten the connection or the cap and it was leaking from there. Told him that the last guy said we might have a leak on coil and needed to be replaced. His focus the whole time was to replace that coil so this company checked it and did not see any leaks now also this house is only 5 yrs and first time recharging the unit for freon. Did the guy purposely leave the connection loose to have us service it again and maybe change the coil?? I don't know but I won't ever use them or trust them again . I mean not even a month and it was all gone . At my last house I had a leak before and it took at least 4 to 7 months till I had to be recharged again so why did my AC have no freon before a month and found no leaks!!!! read more

All customers, please be aware that Fresh Air may breach your privacy making your AC service information publicly available. I just had a case when one of the potential buyers of my house called Fresh Air and their representative disclosed the AC service history. The Fresh Air employee was also making recommendations on MY PROPERTY, advising the AC Units full replacement because of warranty is expired a few months ago. That has been done without my consent and no any further communication with me on this subject. So, I phoned the Fresh Air. During my conversation with one of the Fresh Air managers, responsible for the privacy breach, my concerns were rejected because it is OK to give "true" information to the "potential customer"!? You can imagine, that anybody can call to Fresh Air and give any reason (without official request) to obtain history of your AC servicing record, can be granted not just with that, but additionally with further recommendations and beyond. You also can guess the circumstances on the "advice" for expensive AC Units replacement which just turned to the 11th year, because the Units are just 1st year out of warranty!?
