This review is based on service and attitude of the older woman that either owns or works at this establishment. She is rude, she is loud, and has no sense of customer service. Their credit card machine is down. And I did not have cash with me. She demanded that I use Zelle and gave me a phone number to pay. I'm a regular customer at this location. I paid and then I reached for the bag and she demanded that I show her my phone. Other people were waiting in line and we all just looked at each other. On a good day, this lady is not a polite person. But I overlook it because I do enjoy the croissants. If I rated this based on just the product, I would give it a five star review. My coworker bought me some donut holes and a boudin donut/kolache from this place one morning and when I told my finance about it, he absolutely wanted to go back two weekends in a row. The donuts are made fresh and the owner is so so nice. That boudin was absolutely delicious and I always end up getting one now when we go. They have breakfast tacos and croissant sandwiches.. look at that triple egg on the sandwich and the fresh bacon and sausage. Highly recommend this place but come early cause they run out of things the later you show up.. BUT we always find something even close to closing. So I was just looking for a Kolache and I got a Kolache sandwich. Enough said. I came here because it was the next closest place to my apartment that I hadn't yet eaten at. I didn't know what to expect. Nice little spot over in Bellaire area but it's certainly nothing fancy. The staff was incredibly friendly and woman behind the counter whom I assume was either owner or some relation was bubbly and helpful which is always a good experience early in the morning. I ordered a few things I got a Kolache sandwich which had the sausage with bacon and eggs with cheese between the Kolache roll. It was very delicious and creative way of getting a balanced breakfast! I also go an an almond éclair filled with custard and a coconut donut with white icing. These do air were good. I appreciated that the eclair was filled on request. It's my second time going to Fresh and Best Donuts and I've gotta day, the customer service is on point. We ordered a dozen donut holes, 1 original glazed donut, hot coffee, and an apple fritter. The lady at the front was so nice; she chatted us up and even slipped us an extra original glazed. Donuts are also solid. The sweetness of the glaze and tenderness of the donuts balanced so well with the bitterness of the coffee. Only complaint is that the apple fritter was pretty oily, but my boyfriend was into that so I guess it just depends on personal taste. read more

This place really lives up to their name, as their items are FRESH and one of the BEST donuts in town. On top of that, what really impressed me is that the staff is super friendly and make you feel like they genuinely want to serve you. I was gobbling the donut holes on the drive to work, and after having 4 or 5 (lost count), I looked in the bag to find 4 more...pretty sure they threw in a few extras. Brownie points for the generosity. The donut itself was fresh, fluffy and not greasy. SOOOO good. I had the chocolate glazed peanut donut the next day and it was still excellent. How can I Donuts place NOT get 5 stars? I had an awesome doctor's appointment that morning, so I needed to treat myself. This was the closest donuts place to my doctor's office (thank you, Yelp App). It's a funny turn into the parking lot depending on from where you're entering...just a heads up! The lady who owns it is lovely. So nice, patient, and helpful. The plain glazed donut is where it's at!! This is my new favorite donut shop in the Bellaire/Gulfton area. The plain glazed donut is leaps and bound above Shipley's and Dunkin Donuts, which happen to both be right around the corner from this place. The glazed donut is air-y, fluff-y, but the dough is still dense and soft all at the same time. Imagine if you combined a Krispy Kreme donut with a Shipleys donut - try it and you'll see what I mean! The kolaches were good, but not as good as my personal fave which is Donald's Donuts on Nasa Road 1 in Webster. The breaded portion was great, but the insides tasted like a mini hot dog. Still all-in-all a solid kolache. The Asian people running the shop were super nice as well. Will be back! read more

Had a little UYE a while ago here and was able to experience what it's like to try to eat a donut the size of your head. It's real, it's huge, it's heavy and it's quite a challenge. The donut was pretty good, not the best I have had but not the worst. I hate to make it sound like I'm going against the grain but actually I'm a team player when it comes to trying everything once and I did my part for sure. The Kolache my son had was a tad on the "past it's holding time" but he was ok with it. Parking is a little dinky. Have fun finding parking when it gets crowded during rush. Refrigerator that keeps the beverages weren't that cold but suffice. Personnel here are very friendly and are glad to ask any questions that you may have. They also have breakfast sandwiches and tacos. All the tacos come with eggs and cheese. I tried the sausage, bacon and potato breakfast taco and I like the bacon breakfast taco the most (it was most flavorful). Each taco cost $2.25 and they were generous with their small portion. They have packaged salsa packages if you want some. I also tried their jalapeno sausage and cheese kolache. It was really good and there was a kick to it. I recommend it if you like spicy. Oh yes, I have found breakfast sandwich heaven! Service 5*: I walked in, and was greeted with a very nice "Good Morning Ma'am" from the lady behind the counter. She asked me what would I like for breakfast. I told her it was my first time here, and could she recommend something I should try......and then I saw it....a HUGE bacon egg and cheese croissant breakfast sammich, waiting for me to choose it. I was looking for somewhere to get kolaches not named Kolache Factory or Shipley, and I came across this place. GREAT DECISION. Super nice people behind the counter and they have something really cool - croissant kolaches. Sure, the kolache purists won't like it, but who cares? Let them go to Kolache Factory. They also have half versions of baked favorites like apple fritters, which I thought was cool, even though I went for the regular size. Slightly off the beaten path on the other side of 610 but worth it to support a local, non-chain establishment. I'll definitely go back! read more
