It was your company and it was in 2019, The contract said your people where going to sand and prep before paint they did not so it started pilling so I had to get redone because of pilling not to change color. The first crew had almost no idea what they were doing and made a mess of the job (almost entire 2200 sq ft interior). The owner then sent his best painter, Dave, to fix it. He spent a week sanding and repainting and did a really good job, but there's still things missed - it would have taken him a month to get it 100% all himself. While we're generally happy with the finished product, the whole affair made our move in much more stressful than it already was. Bottom line - make sure you get Dave. read more

BEWARE!!! My husband and I hired Fresh Coat Painters of Westerville to paint & stain a new screened-in porch that was completed in May 2017. We had several irritating experiences from the get-go: We were initially going to have most of the exterior of our house painted (stucco/trim), but eventually decided to save money and just have them paint the new porch. The owner, Steve Gloyer, seemed irritated that we had decided to scale back the project when he came back out to give us an updated estimate, but unfortunately we didn't listen to our instincts and proceeded anyway. When it came time to start, we got a message from Steve on Wed 6/7 that the painters would be able to start the following morning. No sign of painters the next day and no call letting us know they would not be coming, but they did arrive to start on the afternoon of Fri 6/9. Despite the fact that we had confirmed a color scheme with Steve, when the crew came out they seemed to know nothing about what colors we wanted where--which we thought was interesting, and made us wonder what they would have done if we were not home to tell them. The quality of painting from the outset was sub-par--e.g., the white ceiling had splotches of trim paint, and trim had several splotches of ceiling paint throughout; gutters adjacent to a pergola had paint on them; deck boards were stained without proper sanding, etc. to ensure that they stained evenly; screen doors were spotted with deck stain; etc. etc. When we would contact Steve with concerns, he simply replied "The job isn't done yet." We also got conflicting communications about when the workers would be here, and how long it would take them to finish: On two occasions we were told that "the crew will be out to finish the job tomorrow," only to have the crew not show up at all (one day was a rainy morning, but the afternoon was clear and we never received a call saying that they would not be here at all that day). Several texts and emails to Steve went unanswered. Toward the end of the project we noticed two areas of minor damage to our brand new porch: One area of screen was loose and bowing after we observed a worker leaning on it; and one of the pergola slats had come loose & was sagging after we observed one of the workers sitting astride it while painting. Again, the porch had been finished to our satisfaction only 3 weeks before painting began, so we know that these issues were not present prior to Fresh Coat starting their work. We contacted the main office of Fresh Coat to relay our concerns; the next day we received a text message from Steve about our "damage" (which he put in quotes), saying he would have his project manager review and "fix if necessary" (my quotes). The project manager came the next day and claimed that the damage we indicated was there before the painters began; we expressed our disagreement, so he contacted Steve. We received a text from Steve later that afternoon saying that "I'll be there in 30-45 minutes," without confirming whether or not we would even be here to meet him. He arrived 90 minutes later; upon reviewing the damage, he shook his head, laughed and said, "Anyone with common sense would know that we didn't cause that." My husband and I told him that we did not appreciate his condescending tone, at which point Steve completely lost it and began swearing. We immediately ordered him to leave; as he was walking away he hurled numerous insults at us, including several homophobic slurs. At that we informed him that neither he nor his crew was welcome back; he became angry and demanded that he be able to complete the job and be paid in full, which we declined. At that he became aggressive, and fortunately my husband had the presence of mind to start a video recording. The video captures Steve approaching me and thrusting his chest into me knocking me off balance, saying he would "put a lien on your f**king property." I suggested that, in that case, he would be hearing from our attorney, and he again approached me aggressively saying, "Keep it up before I drop your f**king b*tch a**. You have no f**king idea who you're dealing with, you little prick." I stood my ground, and eventually he seemed to regain some sense & finally left without further incident. I have dealt with contractors before who communicate poorly or whose work is not up to our standards, but we have never been spoken to in this way by anyone, let alone someone we have hired to work for us. It was beyond shocking. Needless to say, we would recommend to anyone who will listen that you steer well clear of this company. read more

I'm not sure where to start. The owner of the company, Steve Gloyer, came out, gave us an estimate and then gave us a date that he thought he might be able to fit us in. He never confirmed, so I kept reaching out daily because we had to take off work for them to come into our home. His "best painter", Dave, showed up, 3 hours late, high. . There were fibers ALL over the walls from the cheap, enlarged rollers he used, there was ceiling paint on the walls, you could see the white through the light gray paint that we paid to be 2 coats, the window sill was a disaster, etc. I have no problem with a company messing up and then coming back, fixing it and making it right. So I call and get no answer. I finally receive a call back and tell him that I am not happy with the job completed. He agrees to send his worker back out at noon the next day. He calls me on the way to my home and I explain to him the issues. He proceeds to tell me that I'm a liar and that he has been painting for 17 years and that there's no way that that can be. I tell him not to come because I do not want someone like that coming back into my home. I immediately get a call from the owner, Steve, yelling at me telling me that "he took this job as a favor for me", that I was "the bottom of the totem pole", that I contacted him too much for a job that's so unimportant to him (because I wanted to have date and time), that they do "million dollar homes" and I'm a liar because Dave has been painting for 17 years and he could never leave a job like that, etc. Any who, the painter shows back up, 4 HOURS LATE again, HIGH with his, I'm assuming, girlfriend, who is also very high. You can imagine how the rest went. Steve then text me to see if the job was complete. Before I even got a chance to respond, he processed the payment. I could go on and on, but mainly, I do not want anyone else to be treated this way. My boyfriend stated that "there was no way that he would treat an older, white male that way." Steve Gloyer, President and CEO, is the most egotistical, arrogant, greedy, sexist and I pray that people can read this before considering hiring this company. read more
