Lots of brown grass and bad/dead spots. The greens have so many bumps they are like little speed bumps. Food at the restaurant is hit or miss. They seem to be understaffed at the restaurant a lot. The guys in the shop - some fine, some jerks. Carts all work well but they added annoying governors yet the course is still not nice. Just not nearly as pleasant a place as it used to be.

Cole is an extremely patient, likable young guy who knows 'the golf swing!' And as you might suspect, uses all the Golftec hi tech bells and whistles. I appreciated what he had me work on to help me toward my goal of consistently breaking 100 for 18 holes. I have since had a second lesson to monitor my takeaway, particularly focusing on keeping my hands lower. Using a pool noodle has helped keep my takeaway and follow thru be in good positions. And I have also found his correction of my shoulder set up to really produce results! I have a 3rd lesson set for two weeks from now. Summer rates knock off 12 bucks from the $120 for roughly 30 minutes. And the video of our lesson is a great review, although the audio is hard to hear at the conclusion. Cole has also equipped me with some good videos made by Golftec that pertain to my swing issues. And oh yes, after Cole increased the loft of my driver, it was so fine to hit some high 'baby draws' with increased distance! I have a lot more practice to truly ingrain his teaching, but yesterday's 93 has me smiling! I am very happy with Oakbrook Golftech and highly recommend Cole to you.

It's a good place for more professional, fast pace golfers. Definitely not for beginners, the workers came around rushing us and telling us to go to the next hole instead of completing the one we were on. Super frustrating for the price and they charged us for double the carts when they were included in the price. Total money scam and super rude telling us to leave the first hole when we just teed off and telling us to skip holes to fit their agenda vs what we paid for. Golf is supposed to be a relaxing experience but here it's super rushed and very rude. Would never recommend for a beginner or group more than 2 people.

I attended the Fourth of July fireworks event with my parents and it was amazing! We were seated in…read moreadirondack chairs on the first hole and the course was beautiful! Would love to play it sometime! The fireworks were beautiful!! Great place to see the display. Also, the band, Sixteen Candles, was awesome! They were pretty talented and had a good repertoire of hits and oldies for people to sing and dance along to. They played a variety of patriotic songs during the fireworks display which was really nice. The staff was super friendly--my mom was on crutches and a nice young man working at the club cruised up in a golf cart to offer her a ride. Thank you Noah L.!!!

But today I took my buddy (who is just learning golf) to this course, and he doesn't have any clubs yet so I let him use mine. Right when we were about to tee off, an old guy smoking a cigarette drove from the clubhouse to me and my friend on the first tee and scolded us about him not having a bag, saying "we clearly told you guys each golfer has to have his own bag, I'm going to let it go this time" in a very rude tone. Then he told us to keep the pace of play. I've been golfing for years, even with friends who don't have their own clubs, and me and my friends have never been scolded before for one of us not having a bag. Me and my friend were teeing off and he proceeded to hover around us on the tee, and we felt like we were being watched. Me and my friend got to the green on the first hole, and my friend accidentally pushed my push cart onto the green. Simple mistake from a first time golfer but not something anyone typically bats an eye to. But of course the same old man drove to us all the way from the clubhouse AGAIN, and when I noticed this I proceeded to move the cart off the green. Then the old man scolds us for the cart being on the green and lectures us about it not being "golf etiquette", and then he lectured us again how we need to keep up the pace of play even though we weren't going slow. I told him that my friend was a first time golfer and that he's still learning the game. Then he yells at me "TEACH HIM". Then these young 12 year old kids, probably from Hinsdale, were on our asses the whole round, making me and my friend feeling like we're in a rush. Later in the round we noticed they were actually hitting the ball when we were still on the green, even though this was clearly a par 3 course. That old guy didn't bat an eye. This is usually a great course to go to and I will be coming back, and it's usually good for beginners. BUT this is the worst course you can take a beginner golfer to IF that old guy is working that day. This was the worst customer service I've ever had at a golf course.

Wall Climbing - Came here with a Groupon to try out their wall climbing (valid Tuesdays or…read moreThursdays). I signed in at the front desk and the receptionist escorted me to the wall climbing area since it was a little tricky to find. You have to go down a couple of hallways, down the stairs and look for an inconspicuous door. When you are upstairs, there's a glass window that lets you look down into the wall climbing area. First off, this is not the most sophisticated climbing facility, but it's decent for what it is. It's like the diner of climbing walls rather than a 4-star restaurant. Once we arrived in the climbing room it was smaller than I imagined, but still accommodates about 8 climbers comfortably. There was one child climbing while her family of 4 sat against the wall and watched. The wall is not that tall, only about 2 stories high (20 ft). There's a couple of private bathrooms near the climbing area that you can use to change clothes. I had a backpack with me, which I felt safe leaving on the floor against the wall since I can see it while I climb. The couple of teenagers working the room were nice and friendly. They will provide you with a hardness and shoes if needed, then they become your belayer as you climb the wall. Pricing is not bad. Equipment is included in the price: Members $8 and Non-members $12. Wall Hours: Climbing Wall Hours (August 20 - May 31) Tuesday 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Thursday 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Climbing Wall Hours (June 1 - August 20, 2013) Tuesday 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Thursday 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. I enjoyed it because it was a fun workout.
