I brought my 18-YEAR-OLD, NEUTERED MALE cat with congestive heart failure to Fresh Meadows Animal Clinic for a scheduled echocardiogram. Instead, he was given pre-anesthetic medications and anesthesia for a SPAY procedure. Dr. Cohen later stated there had been a mix-up with another patient. When my mother picked him up, she was told by Dr. Cohen not to inform me of the incident (I have been in the field for ~15 years) and was discouraged from seeking care elsewhere. No post-procedure blood work or objective assessment was performed to ensure he was stable for discharge. We took him to a 24-hour emergency hospital, where he was found to be dehydrated, hypokalemic, and in acute kidney failure. He has since required multiple ER visits for vomiting, lethargy, and not eating, along with ongoing monitoring that has cost thousands of dollars. Dr. Cohen also stated he would not be taking action regarding the employee involved, citing that she had been "showing improvement," and added that she is pregnant. Regardless, verifying the correct patient prior to anesthesia is a fundamental responsibility of the veterinarian. If others have had similar experiences and are considering reporting concerns to the state veterinary licensing board, I encourage you to document everything and follow the appropriate formal complaint process. If I could do NO STAR I would. Let's get this review started. - Let's start with the lobby. The front desk lady had an attitude as if she was upset I asked her to check in. As if asking her to do her job was an issue. She was quick and short. And she misspelled my name hella wrong on my dog's intake form. That's the first interaction. - We are in the exam room me and my dog. The doctor was holding my dog as if he's never held a dog in his life. He was holding her like an object and she was uncomfortable. I could sense a lack of empathy and basic care which I mean wouldn't you want that in a vet? Anyways....the echo. - THE ECHO. My dog has heart failure. The doctor kept harping on this echo cardiogram. Mind you I had told him REPEATEDLY that I couldn't afford that and it was out of my price range. I asked him for different solutions, her prognosis, any med recommendations. He never answered my questions instead he beat around the bush like a US senator. Again no empathy. - I felt judged for not having enough money to get this echo. I felt like he wouldn't care for my dog unless I got this echo. And even when we were leaving he kept saying "Call me back when you want to get the echo". Now I'm respectful of those with hearing disabilities but it seems he has a rare case of selective hearing. He wasn't listening nor had empathy. Like okay Joker. - I left feeling no hope for my dog and everything was a negative experience. Not one positive thing about my dog. I decided to go to a new vet. When I was going through this process I called their office to inform them that I want my dog's medical records sent to this new vet. They put me on hold for ten minutes and hung up on me. Maybe the whole staff has a rare case of selective hearing I don't know. Maybe they need echos on their ears. I don't know. What I do know is that this new vet checked out my dog without the ECHO and she's fine. MANY POSITIVE THINGS MENTIONED. What have we learned? Don't trust no man. Don't trust this vet. I was looking for a new vet for my dog and looked up a couple of different spots, but the Fresh Meadows Animal Clinic seemed to have the best consistent feedback. Unfortunately, I called on a weekend and everything was already booked-up. I had to wait until the following week to come in. Booking an appointment was quick and easy. I asked to received an email confirmation and was even giving text reminders on the day of. Getting to the location was fairly easy. Even though they don't offer parking, it was easy enough to park somewhere nearby. Dr. Cohen was friendly and quick. He offered great conversation and his knowledge showed very easily. I brought both of my cats to this location on seperate occasions and both times were great experiences! This place is very clean and well organized. The staff are highly skilled with animals and are able to provide excellent explanations for treatments whenever necessary. As another Yelper has stated though, Dr. Cohen is not too warm to humans BUT he has the warmest heart to animals which is what you are going there for. He was very thorough with my cat, who was a stray: he examined her ear wax for mites in the office, listened to her heart, lungs and GI systems and cleaned out her ears as well. The wellness visit was free and the extra costs came from her vaccines and stool testing. It helped that it did not break the bank and I look forward to bringing my cats here again whenever necessary. If you are in the area, come here! There is a reason why they're appointments fill up quickly as opposed to other locations in the area. read more

I found Dr. Cohen and his staff through Yelp and Im so thankful that I did! My kitten, Rocki, has been seen at the office a few times and Dr. Cohen and all his staff members have been so kind and professional. Just today, I had Rocki neutered at the clinic..the nurses gave me a call mid day just to give me an update on how he was doing. It really put my mind at ease. Thank you for that. When I came to pick him up after all was done, I was sitting in the waiting room and was able to see a little into the procedure room where they were getting Rocki ready to go home. The nurses spoke so sweetly to him and one of them even gave him a little kiss good bye. It really warmed my heart and just assured me that he was very well taken care of. One of the other many things I appreciate is that Dr. Cohen always explains and answers my questions thoroughly. As a first time kitten mom, this means a lot. His receptionist is also amazing and will take the time to answer any questions you have, whether it's on the phone or in person. Also as an (important) side note: He doesnt try to push anything extra that is not needed for your pet. My friends paid $$$ on vet visits for "routine" tests which they later found out were not necessary. Ive also read Yelp reviews about people having issues with this at other offices. Dr Cohen keeps it straight forward and will even tell you what the cheaper options are and his recommendations. His prices are very reasonable and I fully trust that Im not being scammed. So in conclusion (if you're still with me haha ), I would highly recommend Dr. Cohen and his staff to all the pet owners looking for a clinic that truly cares for your furry loved one! read more

Key Points to avoid reading a long epic: - There was a false promotion for a first client complimentary exam which wasn't honored (see picture below) - The "comprehensive" vet exam was less than 5 minutes total. (see picture below for proof) - The owner "gave" me a refund, but then reneged the offer because "this review was not corrected satisfactorily" (see picture below) - Beware of all these positive reviews as the negative ones were probably taken down from bribery, as he tried to bribe me to take mine down. I wish there was an updated review during COVID times... I came to Fresh Meadows Animal Clinic today because I wanted a wellness puppy visit for my new puppy of 8 weeks old. My puppy was already updated on her vaccines and dewormed and didn't need services at all. I wanted to bring her to a neighborhood vet to establish a relationship. Instead, we dropped off our puppy curbside due to COVID and was called literally NOT EVEN FIVE minutes later after the vet "examined" her. Dr. Olinzack stated that she didn't need any services and that she looked healthy and well. He also said that we should work on her "behavioral skills" as she was sensitive in being touched in her ears and that "she was dramatic." Those were his exact words, extremely condescending and disinterested. On their yelp website, it states that the first puppy visit is complimentary as long as she didn't need any medical services. So I was lured to bring her there and was NOT notified at all that this service was no longer in practice. The Vet tech came out after the FIVE MINUTE visit and told us the vet visit would be $55, and that they were no longer honoring the first complimentary visit "because of COVID." How did COVID affect this policy for you guys? For absolutely nothing except a vet telling me that my 8 week old puppy is dramatic. I've attached a phone call record providing proof that the visit was about 5 minutes long. We brought in our puppy at 3:00 PM, and received a phone call at 3:05 PM from Dr. Olinzack to review this "head-to-toe" exam. I don't know who this practice PAID OFF to write these 5 star reviews... but I highly disagree. Dr. Olinzack has anything BUT bedside manners, has a rude and condescending tone of voice, and all of his vet techs are sharp and quick to get to the bottom line: your money. I asked the vet tech how much the vaccines would be and she blankly stated "they range from $25-$45." I was looking for a specific price point for the vaccines that I was to expect for my puppy... but instead I got vague answers and kept probing her until I got an actual list of vaccine prices. This clinic is vague with pricing because they give the services and charge you afterwards. They clearly only care about profit and NOT about pets, I don't know how this clinic was before COVID, but I do not recommend them during COVID times as they were impersonal and overall plain rude. Take your beloved pet somewhere else, as I WISH someone wrote this review before me so I could've avoided this experience entirely. I'm happy to be seeing their true colors and would pay $55 any day to know to completely avoid this place in the future and bring my puppy to someone who actually cares about animals. Look at the bait they publish on their yelp website below. UPDATE: I was contacted by the owner and he offered and sent me an invoice for a refund, for what I thought was integrity of a false advertisement. But instead, since I only added a "one line addendum," he "took back" the refund and sent me the spiteful email that I took a screenshot of below. He claims that it's such a busy practice and that they have no problem retaining clients, but didn't honor a promotion that still remains on their Yelp website. He also passed the buck of responsibility to me, stating that I should've asked to make sure the promotion was still in place... when it's clearly advertised on their yelp site, see picture below. I truly wonder how this clinic ONLY has great reviews... it seems like they probably tried offering refunds for customers to take down their reviews in the past, like they tried to do with mine. My cat is very terrified of others and started to show some health issues, so we wanted to see what was wrong with her but also make sure that we take her to a place that won't terrify her. Dr. Cohen and his staff were extremely accommodating and were right there with us every step of the way for her treatment, both pre and post surgery. Their compassion, level of service, professionalism, and work ethic is unsurpassed. Our Lala is back to being her old sassy self and has more energy than we have previously known her to have. My dog had to be brought in right away due to her having discomfort that I myself could not pin point exactly where it was coming from. Upon arrival I called and let them know I was outside and they came to my car collected information from me and took her inside. After an examination I was told by the Doctor that she had a pinched nerve in her neck, she was given medication that was to be given 1x per day for up to 2 weeks. After the first day she was given the medication was concerning, as I did think the medication would work immediately or within a 24 hour window and give her relief however this was not the case. It actually took her over 5+ days for her to stop screaming throughout the night. When contacting the clinic we were told it would take a while I just did not think it would take so long. I gave her in addition to the medication pain drops. It has almost been about 2 weeks since her visit and she is much better she does have some discomfort from time to time however it is nothing like it was in the beginning. The staff here were all kind and helpful. I do appreciate the fact that they use their best judgement and they don't take advantage! Meaning they do not give unnecessary test or X-rays if they truly believe it is unnecessary they consult with you prior to everything and really make you feel comfortable. I have had the honor of caring for felines inside my home and out for over 40 years. This was my experience. Your mileage may vary. I was looking for another veterinary practice as the one I have been working with for over 30 years has become way too costly. First the good. Street parking is ample. The support staff, receptionist and vet techs, were competent, supportive and informative. The charge was as much as 40% of what I am accustomed to. Now the rest. To test the practice I was initially seen for assistance with an annual wellness exam. It went well. I returned with another cat for an exam, tests, vaccines and a neuter. Again, no notable issues. Feeling I had possibly found a new practice I returned with the first cat for recommended dentistry. 8 teeth were extracted, yet I received no call regarding authorization to proceed (I am accustomed to that). The cat was discharged with "the necessary pain and antibiotics on board" via injection. I was told that consequently, there was no need to return for a follow up exam (I am accustomed to a follow up exam subsequent to multiple extractions). Unfortunately, my friend did VERY poorly post procedure. I did make an appointment with this practice 5 days later but canceled as I decided to return to my original vet on day 6. The animal was examined and found to require a regimen of pain, antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications. These are my take aways: no communication between doctor and owner after discovering the need for multiple (8) extractions. From a lay but experienced perspective, my cat seemed to have way too much anesthesia in him to allow for a discharge. A routine, prophylactic follow up exam was not recommended. "Tuco" (Breaking Bad) is finally in good health and spirits. My search for a new practice continues. read more

I have multiple dogs. My vet recently retired and was looking for someone to help with a rescue dog I recently found. Dr. Cohen and his staff were kind enough to squeeze me in for an emergency visit. I could tell you being a physician myself I have not met a doctor more thorough and compassionate as Dr. Cohen. I feel he is a no frills doctor who doesn't price gouge, and has a lot of good insight. Don't bother. I tried to make this work because the clinic is close to home but the lack of customer service made me go elsewhere. When I wanted to have my dog's teeth cleaned and asked if I could drop her off close to when she was due to go under because she is crate sensitive I was told that this was not possible. Why? They didn't want to because it's just not what they do. My last vet had no problem offering this scheduling courtesy. We moved or we would still use him. It's stressful enough to have your pet anesthetized without having them wait for hours until the doctor is ready to the mix. What did I do? I commuted an hour to get my dog's teeth cleaned at our old vet and spent my couple hundred dollars there. Another time my dog started limping close to their closing time. When I called to ask if I could be seen I was turned away. My dog was hurt and I was already a client there but they couldn't be bothered. Finally, I needed a prescription for heart worm meds and ordered online as usual using Petmed. I listed Fresh Meadows Animal Clinic only to have them hold up the order because they changed their policy. Now they no longer facilitate online orders. According to them they are overwhelmed with online orders and don't have enough staff to handle them. Instead they ask you to pick up a prescription and send it to Pet Meds yourself. Not helpful. Life is too short folks and there are way too many other vets. If they are ok losing clients then they should remain just as they are. read more

If you're looking for a responsible, picks up the phone, responds to your inquiries, shows care and compassion type of clinic, this place ISN'T it. Their phone lines don't work, leaving a voice mail is useless - nobody bothers listening or responding to you worried pet owners. I hate the fact that I waited a whole day (giving them the benefit of the doubt) for them to respond only for them to NEVER call me back. I gladly took my business elsewhere, where the office and vet was able to see my pet within the same day. I've taken all my pets to Dr. Cohen over the 9 years but lately there has been rude front desk staff answering the phones and answering questions with a lack of customer service skills. It's come to my knowledge that the clinic is not open after 5pm during the week and closes at 2pm on some days. Then they are closed every other weekend. When are we going to find time to bring our loved pets in for care? Will never go here again. Came for a teeth cleaning. Her teeth were exactly the same when she came back out. It's like they went over it once and decided she was ready. He prescribed her food that made her sick. When they took her blood, they hit something and she had a HUGE blood bruise on her whole chest. I've had her teeth cleaned multiple times and I've never had anyone take it from her neck.. wtf? Also are they that careless when taking blood? I am sorry to say that I have to leave this review today after taking my dog to this animal clinic for years. But my last two interactions with them showed that they are less anxious to help pets and pet owners. A few months ago, I took my dog for evaluation for allergies which she has been treated for before. I understand during COVID that rules are different. However, it was cold and pouring rain and they made me wait outside with the dog for over an hour instead of suggesting that I come back. If they bothered to look at the dog's chart, they would have seen that I live a block away. Perhaps they need to schedule a little better. Today, 12/21/20 at approx 10AM, takes the cake and I realized I need to find a new vet; maybe it's not directly the doctor's fault, but he is responsible for his staff and what they did today was bizarre. I called to tell them my dog left a pile of blood after she went to the bathroom. I was put on hold and when the receptionist returned she said they are too busy to take us today and I should call Blue Pearl in Forest Hills. I was shocked at that response. Aren't they supposed to care for animals? And if they bothered to look at my dog's chart, they would have seen this has happened before and they treated her. I asked if this was the norm when a regular dog patient of theirs had an emergency. The answer was yes and they hung up. They didn't even give me the phone number to Blue Pearl. I called Blue Pearl and amazingly, I was able to speak to a vet who gave me guidance OVER THE PHONE. He was calming and told me this was not an emergency at this point and told me what to watch for and what to feed my dog. I don't understand why I wasn't given the same guidance over the phone by my own vet. Being too busy is not the answer. I didn't call after hours. I called early in the morning. This response today was unacceptable and alarming as it illustrated a non-caring environment which is shocking coming out of an animal clinic. I have three dogs and have been going here for about 3-4 years and the nurses have all been super sweet and caring. Dr. Cohen and some of the other doctors have been really great as well. They're all great at explaining the situation and giving options. I have referred multiple people to this vet and they all have had positive reviews as well. What I definitely love is that they never overbook. When I come in for an appointment, I usually don't see more than 1 other cat/dog waiting at the same time. The place is always clean too. My pittie, Lola, had to have surgery for two lumps (Mass cell tumor and sarcoma) and they were really caring and helpful and called me to let me know of the status and kept me well updated as to how the surgery went and when I could pick her up. Great experience at the Fresh Meadows clinic. My dog was biting at his his hind areas for a few days, in visible discomfort. My old Vet clinic couldn't see him until next week. So I called Fresh Meadows at 11 AM, explained the situation and they gave me an emergency appointment for 12 noon (same day). My dog Jax went in, was checked out by the doctors and vet tech, they gave him some medication and sent us on our way. The staff was super nice and accommodating. Five months ago, I brought home a new puppy, being that he's a french bulldog, a brachycephalic breed, which can sometimes have some serious health issues, I knew it was very important to find not only a good vet but a GREAT vet. I made my puppy's first appointment before I even brought him home... Two days before my appointment, my cat (who at the time saw a feline specialist in Manhattan for a whole array of complex medical issues) became ill, and needed emergency treatment...because of the great over the phone experience I had scheduling my puppy visit, and their close proximity to my home, last minute as an emergency I brought my cat to Dr. Cohen to be seen. I was taken almost immediately, he listened to my concerns with my cat, had trust in my overview of his past medical history and quickly prescribed treatment that worked very effectively. Two days later I returned for my puppy's first exam. Erika (vet tech) is a fellow French Bulldog owner, which made me feel an immediate connection and trust. Dr. Cohen again, was extremely personable, caring, in depth, and answered EVERY single question / concern I had... I could not have been more pleased with that visit, and the several subsequent visits after for all his boosters and immunizations. This past weekend, at the dog park, I ran into another one of the vet techs, her name escapes me at the moment :-/ , and her dog Ducky...and even "off duty" she made me feel like family by striking up conversation and addressing my dog by his name.... playing with him. I've been taking my sweet beagle, Stevie, to FMAC for years. Stevie is the love of my life, and I am very selective about her treatment. I trust Dr. Cohen and the staff at FMAC wholeheartedly. Stevie recently fell ill, and FMAC made the time to see her right away- even while being swamped with appointments and with all the chaos and difficulty stemming from Covid-19 safety procedures (which they have been great about!) They have always taken excellent care of Stevie- you name it, they've helped her with it. Stevie is a rescue, and she suffers from anxiety as a result of being a breeder in a puppy mill. She is extremely attached to me. Because of Covid-19, I am not allowed to go in with Stevie- and I am so grateful, from the bottom of my heart, for the tenderness shown to her by Dr. Cohen and the vet techs. Stevie had an ultrasound done recently, and she was very scared when I had to drop her off- Meghan was so good with her that I was able to have peace of mind. One more very important note about this practice: I have found that it is essential for people to ask questions and advocate for themselves, with their own doctors and with vets. Sometimes, medical professionals don't appreciate when a patient or client expresses concerns or asks questions for clarification. Dr. Cohen is incredibly patient and responsive to my input- he always considers my questions and feedback, and he is both caring and respectful. Although I had no issues with our prior vet it was a bit out of the way and once we heard about Fresh Meadows Animal Clinic we gave them a shot and have been going there a few years now. There is no one I trust more with my little guy than Dr. Cohen and his staff. I've recommended him to every dog owner that I know. Since Dr. Cohen himself has a husky he's extremely familiar with the breed and knows exactly how to deal with my fluffy little guy who isn't always the easiest patient. My cat was taken for a checkup and I had mentioned that she kept scratching her ear and the vet sent my cat ear medication. The worst thing ever. My cat started vomiting her food after her meals. So, I had made another appointment because my cat was not being herself. When they checked my cat they told me she had jaundice. I was shocked and explained to the vet that she was not having these symptoms before the medication. Her symptoms started happening after the medication so I believe it was the medication that caused it. On top of that they charged me so much to treat her when it was their own fault for prescribing her the medication. We need better vets that care more about our pets and less about the money. read more

I have been bringing my kittens here since I first became their mommy. My kittens have seen Dr. Cohen for everything from vaccinations to X-rays to checkups. He is very patient and always answers any questions I have. He has also helped me clip my kittens' nails a few times because I can never get them to stay still. Every time I come here, my dog gets scared and uncomfortable. He starts to shake and his hair sheds a lot. This is by no means their fault. For that reason, I decided to go to a vet where he feels more comfortable. In order for a smooth transition, we asked for his records especially for his Echo cardiograph measurements for his heart murmur that was done in 2016 and 2017. Unfortunately, Dr. Cohen was unprofessional when asking for the measurements. Although I didn't have any issues getting the other records. I've requested his echo measurements multiple times, but they only provided me the radiologists notes. They claimed that they DON'T HAVE THE MEASUREMENTS ON RECORD?! How can you not have your patients sound diagnostics in your system? The measurements provides us the condition of his left ventricle, aorta/left atrium, if the thickness and chamber size are normal and if the contractility is within normal limits. The information includes the actual thickness (in MM) of the interventricular septum (IVS), pulsed-wave (PW) of the left ventricle and the AO/LA Diameters of his Aorta/Left Atrium. In order for our new vet to know this, they need the actual measurements. Not the notes. The notes only provide a 3-7 word summary such as, "Normal Outflow Velocity" for his Aorta. That's not enough information. It is VITAL that our new vet has the actual measurements to compare his heart condition from previous years and the its current condition. I've asked thrice for his records and each time I was given different excuses. First they said it's in a USB. Then it's in an email somewhere and they'll try to look for it. The third time, they said that we actually have it, which we don't. Even if we did, you think they would have it in their system. I asked if they can just send me a copy of it but they said they said THEY DON'T HAVE IT. Also, they said that the all their files are done electronic. Which makes no sense. If everything is done electronically, then they would have it somewhere. Dr. Cohen didn't even bother coming out and telling me himself. Instead he had the receptionist act as our liaison even though I can hear him scream in the other room. I feel bad for the girl, it's not her fault. She's just doing what she's told to do. I can tell from her face that he stresses her out. So if you're reading this, I think you're doing a great job! Anyway, they are required to maintain our dogs records for at least three (3) years after the animal's last visit. Under the NYS Veterinary Medicine's Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Technology Practice Guideline, Section 5.14.F.1.b states that "Radiographs or copies should be released to the client or another veterinarian upon appropriate authorization of the client." Yet, they refused and claimed they don't have it. How is that possible????? Furthermore, one of my dog has horrible teeth and I asked him to look at it. Rather then looking at it, he said that his teeth are fine. Even though it's rotting, receding, and has bad breathe. How can it be fine if you did not check? Dr. Cohen is the best! We started coming to Fresh Meadows Animal Clinic because a couple years ago, when we first rescued our pup, Kiyo, they were the only ones who could squeeze us in for a last minute appointment even though they were fully booked at the time. Dr. Cohen is really good at getting our pup to feel comfortable! We recently brought our pup for her annual checkup and she did a fecal test. After doing a lot of research, we found this place to take our new pup Sofia for her first checkup. We were greeted by the nice receptionist & we waited about 10 mins to see Dr. Cohen. Dr. Cohen was gentle, very knowledgeable and professional. Since it's our first puppy, we had many questions and Dr. Cohen answered them all. The facility was clean and modern. The prices were fair. There is no perfect scenario and a veterinary office is no different. Dr. Cohen is professional in the diagnosis of my pet and is thorough in his general examination, he also keeps clear notes of the previous exams for his medical history and for the treatments and he is honest with the options. There are times when the staff seems overwhelmed and that may be something to work on. Their prices are very fair and their billing system is very clear. Absolutely love this clinic and especially Dr. Cohen!!! I have a little shih tzu and he hatesss trips to the vet or groomers. Even with how aggressive my dog can be the people at this clinic are unbelievable. They are so kind and more than willing to help your beloved animal. I love seeing that my dog is in good hands and his prices are reasonable too! I will forever continue brining all my pets here. Mainly Dr Cohen. We've been bringing our young yorkie "Sonny" to FMAC for a year now. Dr Cohen and staff have been very helpful and attentive! -First, they did all his puppy boosters, then a special neuter procedure with an undescended testicle. -This weekend, Sonny had bloody diarrhea all over the house and outside in the snow. We were scared and Dr Cohen emailed us at night and gave us instructions on the weekend and medications yesterday. Sonny was back to himself by Monday evening. So far, my experiences with this vet are great! They are responsive and prices are reasonable! Beware they are extra busy these days, there was a line out the door on Monday when we went! read more

We had been taking our dogs and cats to 2 different vets for several years, and we decided that we wanted to start taking everyone to one location. When our dogs needed their annual shots, we did a lot of research, and gave Dr. Cohen a try. We were immediately sold. You can see that he really cares about his patients, and he takes the time to explain everything to you. The office is clean, modern, and they even give you the first exam for free! I could easily stop there, but I really wanted to share our latest experience. We found a lump on our cat Dax's chest in January, and were obviously very concerned. We decided to take him to our old vet since they were supposed to be "cat specialists". Big mistake. They did a biopsy, and determined that it was an infiltrative lipoma, but the vet had no idea how to remove it. He said that he would need to call in a specialist, and that it would be about $1,800. We had our other cat's eye removed when he had cancer for $1,500, so I felt like this was way too much, especially since I had just paid them $500 for a biopsy. I told the vet that I wanted a second opinion, and went to see Dr. Cohen. He examined Dax, checked out the pathology report, and said he would be able to remove the lump. He also raised some good questions, like why the other vet didn't do any bloodwork, and why he didn't just remove the whole thing since they were putting him under anesthesia anyway. A couple of weeks later, we brought Dax in for the surgery, and he did very well. Thanks to it being dental month, we got the tumor removed and his teeth cleaned for about 1/3 of what our former vet wanted to charge. I also felt that Dax was in much better hands, as our old vet needed the "falcon glove" to restrain him during exams, but with Dr. Cohen and his staff, a little scruff and a towel calms him down. I also wanted to mention their follow-up. Dr. Cohen sent me the tumor pathology report within a couple of days, and also checked in to see how Dax was doing. A couple of days after that, Meghan checked in to make sure he was still ok. You don't get that everywhere. We just moved from Queens to Nassau, but we'll still be taking all 4 of our little ones to Dr. Cohen and his team at FMAC! read more

A year and a half later, I still stand by my original review. Dr. Cohen has been nothing but accommodating and caring. A few months back, my cat had a bad upper respiratory infection. He was wheezing, lost his voice and had a terrible eye infection. When I called the office to discuss the issue, they told me to bring him in same day as a walk in appointment. Dr. C explained the different options we had, and laid out the costs of each route/radiology scans. Ultimately he advocated for the route that costs me less money stating he didn't think it was necessary at the moment... In the end, he took multiple X-rays of my cat (and showed them to me) but only billed me for one X-ray. I'm very grateful for his honesty and my wallet thanks him too. I've been coming to this animal clinic for years now and thought that we never had to look for another vet again but then Dr Bruna and Marta left and now it's not the same anymore. Dr. Cohen disregarded all of the previous reports that we had on our dogs and only cared about more more lab tests.
