We were in a unique situation. A Nepalese-American relative was getting married in Clarksburg, WV to an Italian American man. The goal was to have a traditional Nepalese ceremony and food on Friday, and an Italian one on Saturday. The problem was that weren't any South Asian restaurants in or near Clarksburg. We found Fresh Mint, an Indian restaurant, in Morgantown, almost 40 miles away or 45 minutes. We called to see about the possibility of catering -- and delivering all the way to Clarksburg -- for our guest list of about 50 people. The catering manager was highly helpful and accommodating for our needs. It was a go!! Recognizing that many guests would be eating Indian food for the first time, we wanted to keep the level of spiciness down, and the restaurant allows you to specify the amount of chilis used. We ended up ordering family favorites, mostly North Indian cuisine. For starters, Fresh Mint provided samosas, which are deep-fried pastries filled seasoned potatoes and served with mint and tamarind dipping sauces. We also ordered onion pakoras, which are delicately spiced onions dipped in chickpea batter and deep fried. For meat entrees, we had boneless butter chicken cooked in a touch of butter creamy sauce. Plus, we had a boneless goat curry. For vegetables, we feasted on Aloo Gobi, a fresh cauliflower and potato curry, stir-fried with spices and herbs. We also had Dal Tadka, which are yellow lentils cooked with ginger, tomatoes, spices, and cumin seeds. White rice, tandoori naan bread, and gulab jamun (for dessert) rounded out the meal. The food tasted excellent. The portions were generous. The prices were competitive. All staff we interacted with were professional and friendly. And, we greatly appreciate that they delivered to Clarksburg. Many guests commented on how good the food was -- both native Nepalis and Indians, and those trying Indian food for the first time. We highly recommend this restaurant. read more

This was my first is it since before covid and my husband's first ever visit. The staff were extremely polite and offered suggestions throughout our meal. Everything was delicious! The food was very good - lamb dim biryani, with moderate spice. What was in plain sight was the person who sat us at our table. You have an open area in the back going to the kitchen, noticed the employee put his fingers and palm of hand through their hair, while putting ice in a glass. Noticed an ice cube drop and the hand that went through the hair was picked up and placed into the glass. Yes, I went there... mentioned this to the server who stated this person is a new employee. Working in food service in hospitals and nursing homes, this is not the proper practice. Employees are provided training. Hopefully, they will instill this on an ongoing basis to prevent this from becoming a norm. We were driving near Morgantown, and looking for a place for dinner, when out of the blue, we saw a sign on the side of the road that listed the Fresh Mint, High Street, Morgantown, so I fired up the Yelp App., saw that they had great reviews, so we set our GPS to find this place. It is located near West Virginia University, and is located in a little shopping center with its own parking lot. We were pleased to see that the menu listed items that were Gluten-Free. My wife and I split a Mango Lassi, Aloo Gobi (Potatoes and Cauliflower), and a Malai Kofta (Veggie and Cheese Balls in a creamy sauce). We ordered both dishes mild, and that is exactly how they arrived. Service was good, and the food arrived fairly quickly. We enjoyed both dishes and the drink, and the gentleman that took our order must have overheard that it was our anniversary, and he brought out a small complimentary dessert. This was a delicious surprise in Morgantown! As the pictures show, my partner and I had quite a feast. We had been driving all day and everything on their menu seemed really good. We really enjoyed everything! The samosas were super flavorful and crunchy. I really enjoyed the dosa as well and the lentil soup it came with was delicious and comforting. I really liked the chicken tikka masala. The sauce was perfect and just as spicy as I liked and the chicken was nice and tender. I honestly savored every bite. I think my factories were the garlic naan and the pista kulfi. I'm obsessed with kulfi and look for it every time I'm at an Indian restaurant and Fresh Mint's did not disappoint! It's house made and tastes so fresh and delicious! The owner is super friendly and it seems he really enjoys welcoming guests and striking up conversations. It turns out he used to live in the Detroit area so we talked a bit about Michigan and Ann Arbor! This was a wonderful experience all around and I'm so glad we stopped by. read more

This town's little Indian restaurant of choice is just outside the main stretch of restaurants. I was redirected here close to when they closed between lunch and dinner, but it wasn't an issue and I got in and got out in time. The lentil soup I ordered was indeed very fresh tasting, with herbs mixed in and plenty of substance. My channa bhatura was interesting; the trick with this dish is often portioning it correctly, getting just the right amount of bread to dip in the chickpeas so none of either is left over. In this case, they were very generous with the bread, bringing out two half-moon fried breads, but the amount of chickpeas was pretty weak. However, they offered me a refill without charging me any more so it was fine in the end. The lemon and onion garnishes were excellent, though I could have used a chili or a pickle. My chai was strongly spiced and not sweet (nor did I want any of the table sugar that was available). Nothing fancy, but satisfying and this place did deliver the freshness their name promised. They had a dosa menu available which I would be inclined to try were I in the area again. read more

Just moved to Morgantown and was impressed by this quaint Indian restaraunt with a lovely waitstaff and a strong selection of Indian (including South Indian) and Indochinese options. In spite of pressures from businesses to give 5 ratings on every dining experience, a 3 star rating is "good". I would rate food service and ambience at 4, above average for comparably priced restaurants. My meal was flavorful well above average, close to, if not up to a 5. Sadly, my spouse's meal was exceptionally disappointing, and was hardly eaten. We were dining with friends who were pleased with their meal, so we chose not to make a fuss, but we probably would have returned it had we been alone. I shared two bites of the entree and found the unappealing flavor combination in the sauce atypical of a Marsala and the chickpeas tasted "off", possibly past their best by date. I can't rate that entree on that evening any number but 1. Since we have enjoyed meals there in the past, we will most likely go back to Fresh Mint and hope that our most recent experience was an anomaly. read more

This is fabulous Indian food. We all tried a variety of things and absolutely everything was delicious. Personally, my favorite was the salmon on the Tandoori grill. I couldn't get enough. The food was phenomenal here. I had the Lamb Chattinad for my entree with the lentil soup as a starter. The lamb was tender and flavorful, and the sauce (perfectly spicy for my taste and I ordered it medium heat) was rich snd delicious. The butter naan and onion naan are delicate and also very tasty. Ummm underwhelmed. Not sure how it warrants 4 stars average. It wasn't horrible, but for all the years I have been eating indian food, and for all the 2 dozen or so indian restaurants I have been to, I was pretty unimpressed. Tried the vegetable pekoras, and have nothing good to say about them. Just a big clump of fried vegetable spaghetti. Every other time I have had them ever, they are served as individual fritter type pieces. This was all one big clump. Maybe it is a different style or region, maybe it was just not good. IDK. We had the run around coming to this place only to have it close, which isn't the owners fault, of course, because yelp had the wrong timings and my phone service wasnt working in the mountains so I couldn't call them to ask. The close their lunch buffet and actually close the whole restaurant and open again for dinner. What the employee (or owner or whoever) of this establishment could have done better was be kind and spoke to me with respect. The man who spoke to me was rude and short with us, saying that they were closed and we should have checked the timing online (we did). He said more stuff in a rude and derogatory manner. Had he been kind, we would have came again after they opened again but I made it a point not to come back because of the rudeness. This establishment missed out on at least a $80 meal that day and much more since my family comes to this city often, but that's too bad. Oh well. read more

We had chicken biryani, lamb chettinad, butter chicken, tandoori mixed grill, lentil soup, spring rolls, Hakka noodles, naan (outstanding!) and chappati, and a vegetable dish that was a vegetarian version of butter chicken. Also had mango lassi. No alcohol served. Service was very good; the partner, manager, and chef also took our order and served us. He was very nice and went to culinary school in India. This Indian restaurants is one of the best, or the best I have ever been to. Their mint chutney is my brother's favorite even though he normally does not like mint chutney. It's so good even he eats it all up. Their goat was so delicious and tender. I believe it's fresh and not frozen and they have a local supplier. Highly recommend the mutton, it melted in my mouth and tasted delicious with naan. I loved the spinach chicken, the creaminess was amazing and I don't know how they made it taste that good without it feeling too creamy. Maybe they used a nut paste or something different? I ordered medium spice to be cautious and was worried it would be too mild, but it was spicier than I expected and honestly perfect. The strings of lights on the ceiling was making my husband feel a little queasy, but other than that, our experience at Fresh Mint was very positive. The waiters were really nice. One even recommended an Indian movie (since we were watching the music videos they had on a TV), and brought us some things to try (green chilies, a couple of sweets), I think because we're enthusiastic about spicy Indian food. There was a complimentary appetizer of two flat, crisp crackers with spiced herb and tamarind dips. The herb dip was tasty, but the tamarind was a bit too sweet for me (a shame, since I love tamarind). We ordered the Begara Beigan and Nilgiri Kurma (as spicy as they would make them), since they were different and sounded interesting. The Begara Beigan had big chunks of eggplant, rather than mashed like I expected, and the Nilgiri Kurma had a lot of mint, which my husband isn't a fan of. Both dishes were still quite good (flavorful and spicy), though. The Begara Beigan was smoky, earthy, and rich, and the Nilgiri Kurma was herby, light, and somewhat sweet. There was also a complimentary little side of pumkin curry, which was apparently a leftover from the lunch buffet, and it was amazing. We could've eaten a whole dish of it. It was a lovely experience (despite the lights), and we'll be curious to try their other dishes, since even ones that weren't quite our tastes were exceptional. read more
