Fast forward 3 years since my last review on this Fresh Thyme and I would still agree with all my prior remarks. The produce area is always well organized, full of variety and stocked. The service people in the meat/seafood case area are always available and quick to answer my questions. I have rarely purchased anything that was not a winner by the time it was cooked, prepared and made my folks dinner table. From stocked shelves and a great natural skincare product area, I continue to enjoy this market and am glad it is here in the Haute. read more

While I'm not personally much of a shopper, it is nice to be able to find nice, healthy and fresh produce and quality goods in a local market. While some might recognize that many brands are produced right here on farms here in the Midwest, with only the highest of standards, others might not recognized the value in that. You still have to read the labels to ensure you're getting the "good stuff", but this place will have it. For example, check the ingredients on your favorite dressing and you'll likely find canola, soy, or other commodity oils. To get the best value for your spend, you have to seek out the healthier options like Tessemae's organic products, which have high oleic sunflower oil and extra virgin olive oil which offers the best compromise with taste, texture, and health concerns so you don't have to feel too guilty for going a little extra on the delicious. Some departments like the butcher shop, deli, vitamin and body care have helpful staff to answer questions about the ingredients while others don't seem to be staffed, which is a shame in a healthy food marketplace, where for the uninitiated, there is still a minefield of "lesser" quality options. An educated staff can make a big difference in making the best choices. One thing to take note of though: Apparently some of the products don't move as fast here as in other markets. Perhaps not everyone is as concerned about healthy eating as perhaps they should be! I've noticed some outdated products not getting pulled by the expiration date. However, the management is glad to help out when you do find these exceptions. Also, many organic products don't have the longest shelf life, because they are optimized for flavor and healthfulness instead of being shelf stable for years. So be sure and check the expiration dates as you shop. I've gotten some prepackaged bulk nut mixes that were stale. If you like these, I'd elect to package my own and make sure to sample them prior to purchase to ensure freshness, as there is nothing more disappointing than finding that the healthy snacks you just brought home are less than perfect. read more

I'm so glad this opened in Terre Haute! I love their salad bar :) The only suggestion I have is to post signs for the salad bar items since it's not easy to tell on some items (referring to the noodles, chicken cabbage salad, etc options). There are prepackaged salads available too. They also have an olive bar, sandwich deli, sushi station, and pizza station which offers lots of options for lunch. They carry fresh ahi tuna poke. I was told they alternate between mild and spicy on a weekly basis. I just got a container and add my own avocado for a great meal or a snack. Produce is fresh and there are a lot of great discounts. I'm definitely going to be a regular here. They opened a week ago and I've been there 4 or 5 times already. It is pretty crowded on Friday nights and weekends since they're brand new but hopefully it evens out once they've been around for a while. read more

Fresh Thyme is known for higher end food, fresh produce, and quality meats. I like coming here because what I am able to get is a step up from big box stores. What I was surprised to find is exceptional customer service that I always receive. I went in today looking for burritos they used to carry but no longer do. I met Tom who works there and despite them no longer having the item I was looking for, he took the time to take care of me, and make sure I had a good experience. The selection may be more limited, and some things may cost a bit more. But in my opinion quality is what matters and what keeps customers coming back. Some employee was having a seizure and this idiot to the other employee helping to stuff some bags under her head and get back to worK! New store here in town. It's nice but the not much Space in between rows. Get trapped a lot gotta wait for someone to move out the way. This has been a favorite store of mine since it opened. I'm very disappointed that you now have open stock peanuts on your salad bar. Do you realize the risk this poses to your customers with a peanut allergy? It can be deadly. As a store that gives people more options in allergen free items this is a very poor move. Keep your peanut items in sealed containers. Sorry I won't be shopping with you anymore, only because of this reason. I have no other choice. read more

This is such a breath of relief for Terre Haute! The employees here are wonderful and very welcoming to my children and I. Samples are abundant, which makes shopping with my toddler easier!
