I've been there a few times. The meat sectionn is the only ones that will do the cuts we ask for! They are amazing! The next thing I want to applaud is the guy doing the cheese/wine. This guy, (Adam maybe?), is a durn genius! He helped us once with finding a very sharp and tangy cheese. Next time we told him we are doing an au gratin potatoe and he pulled up a greener cheese that just sent it thru the roof. I hope you are paying these people very well as they can make a huge impact upon the food your customers are serving! I really do like Baeslers. It's locally owned, a manageable-size store, the meat selection is excellent, the hot bar is one of my favorites, the bakery is great, selection is curated and the location is easy to get to, and checkout is usually quick. I'm writing this review mainly because I hope management sees it. Two things keep this from being a 5-star experience for me. First, sale pricing. I would estimate that around 80% of the time I buy something advertised as on sale, the discount doesn't ring up correctly. That makes it hard to shop with confidence. Second, I really, really, really wish the store had self-checkout lanes. Partly so customers can easily verify prices as they scan items, but mainly because I've noticed some food-handling habits at checkout that are concerning. For example, I once bought hot bar food (which you open and eat right away), and the cashier was eating crackers with both hands so fast you'd have thought those crackers owed her money while ringing up my ready to eat, while the bagger was picking at her lip gloss with her fingers. That's not what most people expect when handling ready-to-eat food. I've also seen cashiers lick their fingers before counting cash back. That is gross. For both of us. Having worked in banks, I could horrify you telling you in detail how disgustingly dirty is money. After the lip picking incident I haven't been buying as much hot bar and that's bad for me and bad for their business. Self-checkout would help avoid all those issues and make an already good store perfect. Its not the cheapest place in town but it could be the best. If pricing accuracy improves and self-checkouts are added, this would easily be a 5-star grocery store for me. read more

Very disappointed, the hours for the food bars are NOT consistent. It has happened multiple times to me but this is my first review. I hope it's noticed and it gets corrected. I came at 7:15 and ALL the wells were emptied and cleaned out. The salad bar had a lot of things empty and not filled. Good place to pick up select to go items. Donuts, deli, bakery, etc. The prices are a tad high for Terre Haute standards but decent overall on select goods. Compared to the Super Walmart that is closer to me down south in Terre Haute, clearly Baesler's Market is several rungs higher on the ladder when it comes to selection, variety, fresh options and customer service. I actually find myself at Fresh Thyme most often and although I think Fresh Thyme has a better fresh produce section, I think Baesler's is superior in other areas. When I find myself in the area, I stop into Baesler's for their better bakery options, better meat options from the butcher, extensive cheese options and also sushi. The staff is always welcoming and super friendly as well So although I am not at Baesler's often, I always will stop in when I am in the area as a treat to get some upgraded grocery items. read more

If your a Yelper, you know that this grocery store is a regular for so many in Terre Haute. It helps that they offer a free muffin with every Yelp Checkin, but even if they didn't, I would still shop here regularly. Every single person that is employed by Bob & Casey Baesler are helpful, courteous and always diligently working to keep the store "A Level Above" the rest. They offer a very large variety of items that other stores do not carry. The best part is knowing that is they do not carry a certain item, they will special order anything your little heart desires. Not only is the store a great place to shop, but the fact that the Baesler Family are extremely community minded and believe in giving back to a large variety of non-profit organizations makes people want to frequent Baesler's even more. Another exciting part of Baesler's is the fact their commitment to sustainability and the environment make me even more excited that I am a regular. Any store that is committed to reducing plastic bags with Cresbi Crates and thinking about the Wabash Valley environment is top-notch. This locally owned and operated grocery store has it all. Fresh produce and a wide variety of groceries to fit anyone's grocery shopping needs. Their hot bar has consistently delicious food including several soups, yummy comfort foods, and a variety of sides. The salad bar is fully loaded with just about any topping I could need for a salad. The prices are reasonable as well. An awesome feature of Baesler's is that they have an entrance on the East side of their building that leads directly through to the hot bar, salad bar, and the sushi area of the fresh food section. Equipped with a register, pop machine, and a selection of convenient on-the-go items makes this an efficient stop for a busy person looking for a meal. Also, located within this market is one of the three JR Pharmacy locations of Terre Haute. This pharmacy is locally owned as well and the staff will help answer any question, whether they are prescription related or not. Bonus: stop by the drive thru for the pharmacy for even more efficiency when it comes to daily errands. read more

Maybe this is the small town woman in me, but I think Baeslers is the neatest place. Their fresh food is amazing; it's so good they have a lunch rush. They have a salad bar, fresh made sushi, sandwiches, a hot bar with different flavors of wings, several soups, a huge selection. They have a convenience store on the side so that you can enter without going through the grocery part. Their groceries can be a little pricey but just watch the ads. They also have a coupons.com printing machine so you can print coupons right in the store and save ink and paper at home. The employees are very very helpful and polite. The orange squeezing machine to make fresh-to-the-minute squeezed OJ is beyond belief. 2nd one I've seen in my life, other was in a roadside orchard in a California valley. Open 24 hours (in sleepy Terre Haute) - line waits are rare, fresh baked breads, cakes and pies and more. VERY good soups and deli. OK, the fact that we got a free muffin for checking in didn't hurt. Got the late night munchies and wanted something sweet. Yelp reviews led us to the grocery store about four miles from us in the suburbs. Pulling up it looked pretty abandoned. Doughnuts were running low but we managed to get about five to try including decadent cream filled longhorns, croissant doughnuts (my favorite) and a chocolaty longhorn. Hubby likes super sweet doughnuts and this fit the bill. We couldn't leave without checking out the cold dessert case and yes, left with strawberry shortcake and carrot cake. Everything was so yummy. Beasler's deli, salad bar, hot food bar and soup bar are amazing. I LOVE eating there for lunch! Such creative food. Chef Susan's vegan meals are always some of my favorites, and I'm not even vegan!! Some of my Chef Susan favorites are spaghetti squash with ragu, twice bakes sweet potatoes and any of her soups (I've not had a bad one yet)! Beasler's salad bar is probably one of the best salad bars in Terre Haute. Always clean, with no food strung between compartments. Great selection of toppings and salad dressings. As far as grocery stores are concerned, in many ways, Baesler's Market is a typical grocery store, but in other ways, it's not a typical grocery store. It's the same in that they have all the usual things that you would expect a grocery store to have; a bakery, meat counter, produce section, refrigerateurs with things like milk and cheese and other food, and freezers with frozen veggies and potatoes, ice crème and pizza, just to name a few. There is the typical type of things that you would expect that are canned, bottled and boxed in their aisles. It's different in that they have a wider selection of those canned, bottled and boxed items in the aisles, and their prepared and take-away selections vary so much more than other stores that I have seen, not necessarily in Terre Haute either. If you don't want to cook, don't want to eat at a restaurant, and don't know what to eat, you can always go to Baesler's and find something to take away and eat dinner with something good, or get something for lunch at their deli. The biggest advantage that Baesler's has over the other grocery stores in Terre Haute is that they are open 24/7. If you work bizarre hours and are up and out in the middle of the night like my hours and I am many times, and absolutely need to go grocery shopping, you can do that at Baesler's. For me, it's in a part of town that is more than just a little out of the way for me, so if it's absolutely necessary, I will go there, I still like Mike's Market a lot because it's proximity to home, and I like Fresh Thyme Farmers Market for the same reason. read more

The staff as well as the owners are always available willing to lend a hand to every customer that walks through their door. The meat is top quality and there is a wide selection of quality items you won't find in any other store. The salad bar is the best you will find around in my honest opinion. I couldn't believe that when I looked for bakeries on Yelp, Baesler's didn't come up...If you don't get there early, the great fresh made donuts and pastries of all kinds are GONE! The custom decorated cakes and specialty pastries and pies are too good, and their Jalapeno Cheese bread is to die for....the hot bar is gourmet level for most things and the Lobster bisque on Friday's is worth a special trip....pricier than some groceries but you do usually get what you pay for.... read more

Very Disappointed. I placed and order online for an arrangement of sunflowers. A lady called me from Baesler's to tell me they didn't have any more sunflowers. I was a little disappointed to say the least, but then the lady said... "you know that you're ordering these at the end of the week." Our truck comes on Monday. How am I supposed to know that? I used to drive to Terre Haute just to get Sushi at Baesler's, but over the past several months the quality has gone down hill as has the selection. Sushi should be a healthy option but it is not anymore at Baesler's. It is slathered with high sodium, high fat sauce, and fried onions making it inedible for those of us that do not want to eat that crap. So I will go to Sam's Club because they make theirs at the store (not sure that Baesler's even makes it there anymore) and it is fresh. Last week I got the only thing Baesler's had that wasn't smothered in crap, which was a California Roll type with some salmon and avocado but unfortunately creamed cheese. However, I was unable to eat it as the taste was as if it were bad or old. This is the 2nd time I was not able to eat it in past 3 weeks. It's a pretty pricey store and the sushi used to be worth the extra cost. But this is no longer the case. read more

I recently relocated to Terre Haute from Austin, TX. I have to say that I am so happy that I have discovered Baesler's. They carry so many quality items, I am not sure where to begin. The boar's head deli selections are great! I tried the store made potato salad for lunch last week, it was delicious. I had a cherry almond muffin from the bakery, again, great! They have the coke machine where you can customize what flavor you want, I love that too! I bought some Hormel fresh pork chops, delish. I cannot afford to do all my shopping at Baesler's, however, for specific items I will definitely purchase them here. They also have a full service customer service desk, redbox, a fresh orange juice squeeze machine, and a lot of other wonderful finds. Not quite Austin, but it seems to be as close as I will get. The saxophone player outside one afternoon playing certainly made me feel like I was in Austin when I walked outside. I don't believe he is there daily, I just got lucky! read more

Yeah, Baesler's is usually pretty great. But yesterday, I asked somebody in produce where I could find tofu -- Tofu? He clearly thought it was pretty gross, and he had no idea where it was. But I found it. Then, checking out, the young guy bagging groceries, stopped when he got to my tofu. "Tofu? Wow. I don't even know what it is." Then he made a face. Really, Baesler's? Young men who bag groceries -- or who wander aimlessly around the produce section, for that matter -- don't get to tell me, basically, that my food just totally grosses them out. Worked for this company for years and the employees aren't faking it, they really are genuinely good people. But it's easy to enjoy work when you're working for Bob Baesler. Everyone there is very knowledgable. If you ever need or want any food you saw on TV or in an AD that you wanted to try, just talk to management and they will order it for you. This is grocery store is one of the only things I miss about living in terre haute. The quality and selection of products are what you would expect to find in cities like Chicago or Indianapolis.
