We were planning on doing something else, but decided to stay in the C-U area so we didn't get to the market until 11:30, they close at noon. Some vendors were packing up and some sold most of their goods. Since we weren't planning on going to the farmer's market, I had already purchased a bunch of produce and meat for her at Whole Foods. I wish I hadn't. The produce at this market looked so good. They had good amount of produce and meat vendors. Prices seemed very reasonable. They had vendors that sold baked goods, jewelry, bags, soap, etc. The downside for students is the distance from campus and hours. I told my daughter she should coax a friend with a car to go with her. We were hungry and decided to check out a food truck. I don't know if there are usually more food trucks, but there were only 2 when we were there. The home football game may have effected the number of trucks. We chose Piato. I opted to try the farmers breakfast sandwich and my daughter tried the Carolina pulled pork sandwich. She wanted biscuits and gravy, but the ran out of biscuits. I enjoyed my sandwich. It was on sourdough bread, fried egg, cheddar and sausage. I liked it wasn't greasy. My daughter enjoyed the pulled pork. She even liked the cole slaw that came on top of the sandwich. She chose the bourbon sugar bbq sauce and said it was really good. We also got a fresh squeezed lemonade. We didn't enjoy that as much. We think it may have been sweetened with stevia. It had a weird aftertaste which is why we think it wasn't sugar. We don't like stevia. All in all, would definitely eat here again. Reasonable prices and friendly service!

A lot of parking available too. We were visiting the area and the market was a real treat to visit on Saturday morning. Definitely plan to return.

This past Saturday they had another event day. Safety Day!! I heard that it ended up with a lot…read moremore vendors than I would have expected. So I went. I visited every booth and even got a free pair of swim goggles, a pencil sharpener in the shape of a fire extinguisher, and other great stuff. I recorded their rescue demo from a multi-story building. The firefighter landed with the rescued man through a window onto an air mattress. I went to a trailer to learn about prevention of home fires and how to signal for help from an upper floor. I have a video of me breaking a board with the foot! Moreover, an organization was offering free hot pancakes with 2% real maple syrup, butter, and mini bottled water. What a tasty treat as I have not had pancakes in a long time! This trip at the market and after learning about their process, I bought a $2 yellow squash from a vendor who uses essential oils to distract inserts/bugs and their own animals' waste as fertilizer. I will taste to determine if similar to other growers. Also, I bought again the $14 (6) frozen chicken eggrolls. I air fried one upon arriving at home. Yummy! Another new and happening morning! Very educational.

Customer for over 30 years. There are other garden centers here in Decatur of course. I return here…read moreevery year as I have grown to know the employees who work there every season. I read one of the older reviews about the person who felt racially alienated by one of the owners. There are only two people who own the business that I know of. One is male and one is female. If the lady followed you around did you think she may have been wondering what it was that you were looking for to help you? I doubt anything else was going on. These are down to earth good hearted salt of the earth people. They have a beautiful assortment of the best plants around here. They do a great business there, why? They couldn't be in business THIS LONG if they treated people poorly, ANY PEOPLE. I've seen ALL kinds of people in there over the years. I LOVE going to the garden center every year. I often go multiple times during the growing season ( April thru September) and probably spend more than I should, but gardening is my passion as one of the other reviews mentioned. The plants are very healthy with an abundant variety. They take great care of them while they are at the nursery. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I get there. I sometimes can spend an entire afternoon there planning what I want to put in my flower pots for the current season and what new attraction I can add to "MY" sanctuary in my little patch of land at home. Know that they also have a whole section dedicated to pots, statues and ornamental figures that you WILL NOT find anywhere in town. I am adding my second LARGE statue this year. You can call it my birthday gift to myself. I simply can't wait to get it home. Be warned! These are truly concrete and need special handling and transport to bring them home but gosh, they are worth it! Happy Gardening! PS: Yes! I too remember when they sold fruits and vegetables and as a much smaller variety of plants. I would go there just to get the fresh produce! What a great trip down memory lane!
