This store sells fruits and vegetables that are not fresh and wont honor the exchange ,because they said once you take it out of the store there is no change.They should inspect all the fruit before they sell it.I bought a Guanabana that never mature ,i pay $9.70 for a small one that usually cost $6 in the supermarket.Even though i had the receipt they refused to credit me or exchange it.They are NOT looking after your satisfaction .just making as much money as they can without responding for their quality if the products. I bought a small jar of yogurt. Eight dollars for about 10 ounces! when I got home, I opened it, but it was not edible. It already gone bad, even though the expiration date was 10 days away. Two days later, on my next shopping trip, I brought the jar and the receipt.The manager refused to refund the cost say, how did she know I didn't leave the jar out of the refrigerator for the last two days. Basically saying that I was lying. I have lived in the area for 3 years now and Freshmart was my go to grocery store. I spent $600-$700 a month there. Congratulations Freshmart, you might have saved a couple of dollars refusing the return. And you definitely lost one of your best customers. I have spent years in the field of business development, and the level of customer service on the island is appalling From Acueductos and Luma, to real estate agents, and insurance gents, and dance instructors who don't return emails and phone messages. Business is about relationships. Too often, what customers experience from proprietors here is disdain. It's a nice market, on par with whole foods on the mainland but twice the price because the items need to be imported here. I picked up a few snacks but had actually come in for the deli. Other Yelpers have left such great reviews of the sandwiches they make, I was really looking forward to the vegan Ruben sandwich. Unfortunately when I went in today (10/28/22) THE DELI WAS CLOSED INDEFINITELY FOR RENOVATIONS. Woah!! I love this supermarket!! was so surprise with the amount of vegan options they have. From grocery items to hot meals located on 2nd floor. My first visit, I got the Papaya Delight smoothie, tofu scramble, and vegan reuben sandwich. Omg they were sooooo yummy!! So yummy that me and Bae ordered some to eat on our plane ride back to New York. Would probably go back fo Puerto Rico just for those Reuben sandwich. I am only upset that I found this place on our last day. I didn't have enough time to enjoy its full potential. They have so many vegan options. I shopped downstairs and was surprised by the reasonable prices. Products are limited but of good quality. Then I ate upstairs and enjoyed a vegan quinoa aoili burger with potato wedges. I ordered sweet potato fries but was served white potatoes. Nonetheless, they were very well seasoned. I enjoyed the fries more than the burger. The burger was better once I added spicy ketchup. Burger and fries cost me $8 and change. Great price! Nice place, with cute window seating overlooking Asheford so one could people watch while eating. I went back several days later and ordered the vegan Reuben with multigrain bread and baked sweet potato fries. This time I got sweet potatoes and they were good. I am writing this review after a couple of visits in the same week. First try - coffee, water, and a turkey sandwich with home fries. For being the only customers, the order took what felt like a long time. To make things interesting, my home fries came out so cold that I could not eat them. The turkey sandwich was okay and the coffee was really good. Second try - coffee, water, and avocado toast. Bingo! This reminds me of going into a Whole Foods. It is smaller of course, but the way the store is laid out and the bright colors of the fresh fruits and veggies. Small market that I strolled into. They have many unique special dietary items like a health food store or excuse me more like a Whole Foods but an Express version. Boy oh boy they have similar price tags like "whole check" as well. I thought it was a gem to have a market like this available, and was truly surprised I found one. It helps that the location is amongst some tourist traffic. So weather your in a hotel or renting an apartment you should be able to find natural, vegan and gluten free alternatives here. We wanted fresh fruits and most of it was already cut and packaged. However, they had wines and spirits. We bought premade burgers and snacks. I love freshmart! Been staying in Puerto Rico on vacation for the past week and a half and I come here at least once a day and up to 3-4 times a day. I start my mornings here for breakfast/lunch and every once in awhile dinner too! Staff are friendly and the upstairs is where you can get breakfast/lunch/dinner. Super yummy food that is also prepared healthier for you. Cost of hot foods is pretty good and portions are good. Downstairs is where you can shop for groceries/Acai bowls/gelato. Overall food/staff/prices are great and in a prime location of Condado. Only wish I had known about their store/loyalty card because my sisters and I went here everyday for a week and a half. Going to miss this store so much when I leave back for California in one more day :( , will definitely be back here in the future ! read more

I gave Freshmart 4 rather than 5 stars because of their abysmal produce section. If you're looking for fresh produce of any sort then this should not be the place you stop at. Their produce prices are very high, the items do not seem fresh, and the selection is weak. Aside from the produce, their grocery items are great! The store is extremely vegan-friendly, with vegan items to be found in just about every category from yogurt to snacks to frozen foods. Every time I come to town this is where I get my groceries. The prices are really high, but I think that's typical for getting specialized food items on the island since not much is grown or sourced locally and has to be shipped in. This establishment is just down the street from my hotel. They are open late, so it's a total life saver. This grocery reminds me of a mini Trader Joe's or Whole Food Store, so some of the items are a little more expensive. However, it's worth it since you can find organic food, gluten free goods, vegan cheeses, almond milk, raw stevia and slimming teas. What a great find! As much as I love PR, finding healthy vegetarian options is sometimes difficult. Freshmart is not only a great store but a great restaurant too! The folks were very knowledgeable about the ingredients because it's all cooked and prepared on premises. So if you're gluten free or vegetarian or vegan, they have you covered. Like a lot of places in Puerto Rico, ample workforce standing around doing nothing, but there is no one to serve you. While service is typically slow on the island due to everyone being on island time, the service here was not that great at all. This is my second time here and I regret coming here just as much as I did the first time. I thought I would give this place another chance but Freshmart failed to deliver once again. I attributed the first bad experience and incredible confusion to the fact that it was right after the hurricane, but apparently, that was business as usual for them. With so many months that have passed, the bad food, service, and experience are unacceptable.The food is not fresh in the upstairs restaurant. There is no clear or efficient way to get your food. You essentially have to hover at different parts of a long counter until you order and are served. The cashier is at the end of the counter, so after I paid I expected the food to come to me, but no. After I paid I was told I had to walk back to the front of the line to get my food. For being in a very touristy area, the employees here are not too proficient in English and are very rude. I think this is the last place I would eat as a vegan. This would be the very last place on my list. Freshmart is no longer what it used to be. I have been eating there almost my whole life (for at least 20 years) and I've seen how they've changed their views in terms of healthh food. It could be called "Morguemart" now. When you go to eat, if you're a vegan, there are more options for meat than vegans/vegetarians. Most of the employees working in the restaurant section in Guaynabo and Carolina are very rude and they don't get what "vegan" is and they confuse it with vegetarianism. Don't get me started with the price. These kind of places are the reason many people don't choose to eat healthy and see "healthy" food as a luxury. In Carolina, when you pay, you have all the corpses and eggs on the right, corpses all filled with blood, and honestly it looks disgusting. That should be hidden in the back or in a fridge and use that section for their wraps, baked stuff (like they used to do before), or anything else instead of the meat since it is very bad taste to see that everytime people pay. No wonder their vegan/vegetarian clients no longer go there as much as they used to. Also, Freshmart has a bad reputation of not putting all the ingredients in the things they bake and cook and they sell them as they appear. For example, their brownies are not vegan since they have eggs. They don't have all the ingredients listed. Also, their pizza dough has eggs. They sell vegetarian options in the Restaurant section as vegan and they don't specify it. Only an experienced vegan would know it is not vegan, for example, the wham, the croquettes, and some other "meat" alternatives are not vegan. read more

I wish I could've loved this place because having an express health-food store like this in the area was a godsend. Alas, my experience at Freshmart was terrible. The service is ridiculously slow and the staff has no reservations about the poor service they provide. My boyfriend and I went to the restaurant upstairs for a quick bite to eat. While we were looking at the menu there were two people behind the food counter one was "cooking" the burgers and the other was serving the food. Once we were ready to order, the lady serving went to the back and never came out. We waited by the counter to be served for about 5 mins before the lady who was "cooking" approached us to take our orders. Mind you there were three staff members standing by the cashier talking amongst each other. Not one of them came up to ask us if we were ready or to call the other girl from the back to let her know we were ready. She didn't come back until after we got our food-- how convenient. Another bone I have to pick is the inefficiency in the food lay-out. I ordered a hot combo. I picked a salmon with two sides. I started in the middle to get my hot entree, then moved to the right to get one side, and then moved back to the left of where I started to get my other side. There were people in line by that point so I was walking back and forth between people to show her what I wanted. Lastly, the food isn't fresh. I say "cooking" because all the lady did was heat up a frozen beef patty and heated up fries in the oven. My boyfriend says his burger tasted like a microwaved patty. I understand that it's counter service food, but Chipotle has fresher ingredients than this place. My salmon was hard from being overcooked and I'm sure that it was cooked then frozen and then warmed up. The downstairs isn't any better. The cashier has an attitude. In all honesty, this place is good when you can avoid any sort of encounter with the staff by going to the quick prep station downstairs or grabbing groceries instead. read more
