Fresno's Leading Young Professionals, or FLYP, is an organization that supports - well - young…read moreprofessionals in Fresno! Their goal is to give Fresno's young professionals a reason to stay in the area. They throw monthly mixers, special events, and fundraisers. I've been a member for several months now and have attended a few of the monthly mixers. Most if not all of the board of directors tend to be in attendance, and they serve as friendly faces to welcome you in, whether you're a first timer or a regular attendee. The mixers are in different locations around town each month, so some are easier to get to than others, but it helps to draw a different crowd and for members to go to the most accessible locations, so I appreciate that. It's also a nice excuse to try out a new bar or restaurant once in awhile! I've met some really driven and interesting people at the mixers. I've had a few instances of speed-dating style networkers dropping in too, which doesn't really feel in the spirit of what they're trying to achieve, but overall people are quite receptive. The special events they run have looked really interesting, though I haven't managed to make it to one yet - including a paint night and an evening at the philharmonic orchestra. They also run the Fresno Downtown Academy which looks like a great opportunity - there's information about that on their website.

Diversity was noticeably lacking during my time here, which made the environment feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. There's also an on-site bar on private property, and the way alcohol consumption is handled raised real concerns about safety and accountability--especially when some members seem exempt from consequences. I agree with other reviews mentioning these issues. This place may work well for insiders, but it didn't feel inclusive or responsibly managed.

I have family members who are living at the River Club and have lived there for decades in separate homes. I'll start out by saying this used to be a very quaint place... There is a bar and grill and a parking spot for campers and RV's to hook up. There is a cute chapel on the lake and ducks and geese are everywhere. Once a little fishing community, tiny houses were supposed to be fishing cabins and not more than 850 SF.. the land is leased by the government so you can buy a home but you won't own the land. Over the past 40 years since my uncle left his "tiny house" to our family, the place has gone down hill. It used to be a nice almost resort like in the 60/70's for fisherman and people to enjoy. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice homes but there are some run down. Currently there are still car shows and events that go on periodically. Sadly many of my mothers elderly friends who lived there have passed away, but over the years we had a lot of fun times and Family. BBQ's. We used to take our boys there to fish when they were young, We still go there at least once a month and visit and right now as I'm writing this there is a flood warning on the river due to the rain. People my have to evacuate.

B) offered us another race entry for someone to run along side him to attempt and succeed in setting a new World record for his age group! C) were super nice,super accommodating and super supportive while we geared up and prepared for the race! D) Everything about the people we met involved in it were all about the participants having a good time and enjoying a col long run together. E) the police chief videoed,posted and fully was supportive as well and was also kind and entertaining! WE will be back! The women running the facebook link even offered to mail my son a race shirt after he got so excited to run he forgot to turn in his voucher to receive one-and all free! I'd give these folks a 5.5 if I could and they help for free to support a lot of good causes! Come on out to The Mission at San Juan Bautista folks and run this 5k or 10 mile or half marathon next year and help support the effort to change a little part of life for many in a really good way!
