I've lived in multiple areas over the last few years: Wyomissing, PA; Boston, MA; West Hartford, CT; Ardmore, PA. I make it a point to always get work on my car done by Lee or someone at his shop. I cannot tell you the amount of times I went to a mechanic near where I lived and felt the price was a bit high, and then went to Lee who works with you to see what you need. Even if I don't need an oil change, I'll get it done early when visiting the parents for a long weekend or holiday because they are that good and that's how much I trust him. For example, this one time I went to a mechanic in Wyomissing and he said I need four new tires. He almost didn't let me leave unless I got new ones. I went to Lee and he said only two were needed and the other two could wait until the fall (before winter). There's no guarantee I'd come back to Lee again in the fall to get those other two tires done. This was just one of many, many examples. He isn't about money. He's about trust. I cannot stress enough how honest he is, especially for a mechanic that sometimes get bad reputations. My suggestion: Go to Lee and get your car done. If he says you need something, he really means it. There's no buyers remorse from him or wondering afterwards if he was just trying to sell me.

When i first brought them work i was very happy, i recommended them often, and was in there pretty regularly. I felt their charges and diagnosis was good, I spoke with Cliff, an owner, and felt like a good small town garage, one of the few left. But i must say over the past year, maybe 18 months, I've had 2 issues, one after the other, that turned into an absolute nightmare with them. I felt like i was way overcharged, not once but a couple times. I paid unbelievable amounts (at this time unbelievable), because I kind of had no choice, and i was so tired of the time it was taking them, weeks and weeks. like 5. Then got a 10% discount after my vehicle sat there 5 weeks, me calling every other day. It was like a joke, I'd ask when they thought it could be done, she's say, "Day after tomorrow he hopes to get it in and looked at". They knew i had another vehicle, and it wouldn't have been bad except they totally hosed me at the end with the bill. SO i had no choice but to pay the bill and drive away. And since, i asked for an aprox. price for something small i wanted done, and the amount for the simplicity of the work, just added insult to injury. They do pretty good work, I think, which is the one thing i do have to say, and usually if it's just a remove and replace, inspect etc... they're good with appointments. So i can't say anything really bad, it's just how I feel and I think i'm more than fair, but i also will say i'm not as sure or happy with ABE the past year or so. I may continue to bring in my vehicles, probably for inspections or oil change, but i'm looking for a different place.

The first car I brought to them ended up needing a lot of work done to it. They told me the price right up front, told me what could be fixed now and what could wait a month/couple months before it needed to be done. The second car I brought to them (after the old one just because so expensive) was a used car my father purchased for me. After a few great months of using it, when I went to have brakes changed, they were honest and told me the frame of the car was rusting and it wouldn't pass inspection in a few months. The most current car I have brought there (went certified used this time around) I brought right after I left the garage with the second car. The only thing this one has needed is oil changes. To be specific, I was quoted 2 different prices by nationwide chains located in my area , but neither could provide the needed tow service and one couldn't even do the work for another day or two. AAA dispatched Number One , and there truck arrived within minutes and the driver called in the replacement alternator. Upon arrival at the shop , the staff immediately began working on my suv and had me ready to go in a flash. They beat the one chain store in price by $300 , and another by $60 ( but that one I would've had to buy the part at one location and bring it to their repair shop). I felt completely comfortable and confident throughout the process that my car was being worked on by competent mechanics doing quality work at a competitive price.
