I went to Friar Chiropractor several months ago. There are several chiropractors in the area. I chose this one b/c she is a female chiropractor, (which I thought was rare) and it was a convenient location. There are no walk in appointments. I called late in the afternoon and got an appointment the next day after work. The intake was quick but thorough. The office is clean, private and quiet. I went b/c I could barely move my neck and had upper back / neck pain. The appointment started off with a 15 minute massage. She had me take off my shirt and change into a gown. Sally gave me the best massage I think I ever had. She zoned in on the knot in my shoulder blade and massaged out the spasm that I was having. Usually, at other chiropractic offices, they use the electric stim machine to work out your knots. This was pretty impressive and equal to the machine b/c she dug deep - I loved it! After the massage, she adjusted my neck. I only ended up going to two appointments because my neck pain was gone. Overall, it a good experience. I am VERY pleased with Dr. Friar. I had never been to a chiropractor before, but as I had a moderate-severe lower back problem (that resulted in not being able to stand up after bending down), I began researching my options. The office is relatively close to my location in JP, and I was able to make an appointment quickly; Dr. Friar runs a busy office, but she proved to be extremely flexible, given the amount of pain I was in. After one session of deep heat, massage and stretching (not sure what the technical terms are!), I felt immediate relief. My activities were no longer limited, and I my range of motion increased dramatically. I have been back since, and will continue to visit in the future. Dr. Friar and I will be discussing exercise and core-strengthening techniques next time we meet, in order to avoid any future injuries. Dr. Friar is the BEST! I've been going to her for over 3 years now. I have terrible posture (my fault, not hers) and a job where I'm sitting for most of the day. I always get unusual knots or just general back pain and she fixes me right up every time. I used to live a few blocks over from this location. However, I've moved to the north shore so it's not as convenient. Recently my back was hurting and I was desperate for relief. I started going to a chiropractor on the north shore (literally a 3 min walk from my house). I went for about 5-6 sessions yet there was no relief. I decided to make the trek to see Dr. Friar and felt immediate relief! Needless to say, I will continue making the hour and a half commute to see Dr. Friar for all future back issues. I began seeing Dr. Friar about a month ago for a longstanding rotator cuff injury. Before seeing Dr. Friar, I had had almost three months of twice weekly PT with no results. Prior to each adjustment, Dr. Friar did approximately 15 minutes of some sort of trigger point massage which immediately reduced my pain. She then did the adjustments, which sometimes make me a bit nervous (especially around the neck), but she is very quick and gentle. Dr. Friar is professional, personable, thorough, and knowledgable. After an initial assessment and three adjustments, my pain has decreased dramatically and Dr. Friar says that I'm all done with treatment. What I like about her, is that she addresses the problem quickly and sends you on your way. My insurance doesn't cover chiropractic, but treatment with Dr. Friar was worth every penny because I feel like I have my life back! read more

Dr.Friar has made my back feel normal again. I was anti chiro but my back was in so much pain over the years. I gave in and researches chiropractors based on who would take my insurance. I read reviews and decided Dr. Friar had the approach i was hoping for. By my first session i felt a major difference, by my third session by back felt like normal. I called Sally on my day off and she had an opening the same day. I get really bad migraines and have only been to one other chiropractor that I thought was really good, but today, she blew that guy out of the water. Sally seems to know her stuff and she is easy to talk to and be around. Discussing the laundry list of things that contribute to getting migraines makes me feel a little on the winey side, but she was right there with me, nodding and smiling. I was in a great deal of ongoing pain, and a few close friends recommended Dr. Friar. I hesitantly gave it a try and remember walking out of her office feeling a profound strength and uprightness I hadn't felt in years. I went consistently for quite a while and am happy to report that my back pain has genuinely improved. I'll occasionally go back for adjustments, but Dr. Friar gave me exercises I can do on my own that really help. This was an incredible (not at all scary) experience from beginning to end. I was in town on a short vacation and had fairly severe back pain. After reading the reviews on Dr. Friar, I decided to call. She was able to see me within 4 hours. I filled out all the paperwork then after her asking me many questions, I received the exam. She instantly determined what treatment was needed. First I received heat, then a deep tissue massage. After which she put my vertebra back in alignment. Then a little more massage and finally more heat. I left there feeling SO much better. I live outside of Philadelphia, but was staying in JP with family for a wedding. I've been having some ongoing upper back and neck/rib issues and have started seeing a chiropractor at home and was still in the "it's gonna get worse before it gets better phase" when we left for our trip. Sure enough, a few days into the trip, I was couch-ridden and surrounded by chiropractic offices (seriously, I think there are like, ten in a four-block radius). A yelp search yeilded Dr. Friar as the most highly-reccomended one in the area, and I'm so happy I went to see her! She doesn't do walk-ins, but she was able to fit in me in the next morning. She did an inital exam and we talked about what I've been doing to treat this issue; what helps, what doesn't. She had me change into a gown and started with some stim and heat on the area, then did a deep tissue massage to loosen every thing up. She used an activator device to do the actual adjustment, which I was grateful for. I was really worried about it coming out of alignment again during the hustle and bustle of the rehearsal dinner and wedding festivities, so she taped my back with kineso tape. She sent me home with some extra tape, and even showed my husband how to do it, in case the tape came off in the shower. I went to see Dr. Sally Friar based on a recommendation from JP Moms, and I loved her! I am 24 weeks pregnant, and I'm having pain in my shoulders and lower back. She met with me for an hour, gave me a deep tissue massage, and did some minor adjustments. She was very professional and friendly. I was very happy with her, and I'm going back next week. I have had a lot of chiropractic work with several different chiropractors. Sally is the best I've experienced. I turned to Sally based upon yelp reviews and I am so glad I did. I have recently been diagnosed with a bulging disk in my neck and have multiple rib heads out. Serious issues needing serious support. Sally listens well, takes a careful and conservative approach, and focuses on starting where the patient is. I can say that these qualities are hard to find in a chiropractor. Usually they diagnose fairly quickly and seem to think that a particular plan is the only option. Sally is well skilled in anatomy and adjustment work. She is open to feedback and individualizes each appointment. I came in my first appointment barely being able to even lay on the table. After one treatment I was able to walk more comfortably and cut my pain meds in half that day. It has only improved from there. Although my disk condition will take a very long time to resolve or easily manage, Sally ensures I can sleep more restfully, be able to move with much less pain and is leading me to the time where I can again be athletically active. I went to Dr. Friar after moving to Boston a couple of years ago. I was having a lot of lower back pain. I had been seeing a network chiropractor in NYC (which was very helpful), so I was a little nervous going back to a "regular" chiropractor, but Dr. Friar is excellent! She treated me with e-stim (electric stimulation), heat, massage, and very gentle adjustment. After going once a week for a few months, I was so much better, and she said I only needed to come back if there were any issues. A few months later I slipped and fell hard on the ice, so I went back for two visits, and it turns out I was still in good shape, alignment-wise! Her prices are very reasonable, but I'm really appreciate that she "graduated" me when I was doing fine and didn't keep me coming back with no end in sight.
