We were passing through on our way out of town, looking for a place to stop and eat when we saw the sign for California Style Mexican food. Being a family from California, we had to give it a try. The atmosphere was traditional, with brightly colored decor and authentic music. The server was funny, engaging and all wore masks appropriately for COVID. We enjoyed the warm chips and the complimentary bean dip was great! We all enjoyed trying different salsas from the salsa bar, and one of the staff assisted my daughter in picking some out. The owner stopped by and engaged us in conversation...it was a pleasure meeting her! We saw some fresh guacamole being made for another table and ordered that as well, it was a large portion (we were a table of five and took some to go) and it was very good! I had the taquitos, loved having flavors from California with the seasoned shredded beef! My daughter is very picky and loved the kids chicken fingers and fries, homemade chicken. My other daughter, her birthday, got the cheese quesadilla which was made with Monterey Jack cheese, just like home! She ate every bite. My husband and son split the generously sized chimichanga with shredded beef. We live about 90 minutes away, but we plan to come back and visit from time to time...to enjoy a taste of home! read more

I have been around the entire US, I have even lived in Latin communities. So this comes as a very good recommendation for Latin food. This is the place in Gaffney to eat Latin/Mexican food. It is authentic, delicious and done right. We eat here often and will not go to another restaurant in this category. The wait staff is great and friendly, the kitchen staff are also very friendly and stop to talk with you when they walk through. The food is also tremendous and the amount of food for the price is huge. If in town, stop by and try it, you won't be disappointed, and may even come by more often just for Cantinita's food. read more

This place is the bomb, y'all. The staff are always friendly and ready to make a good recommendation if you can't decide what to order. The food is nothing short of exceptional. Cantinita really brings a fresh twist to a small town full of tired and greasy chicken, burgers, and fries. It has many healthy options and everything really is just fresh and delicious. I was delighted when I ordered my son chicken from the kid's menu and they didn't serve us fried freezer chicken strips, they brought out grilled chicken that really was good, I know this because he's 3 so me and his Dad ended up eating them all because all he wanted was a banana we didn't have on hand. Food is fairly authentic to our tastes we keep finding we go there often much better than Broncos

Worst service. Ever. 8 of us ate here on a Monday. There were only a couple of other cars in the parking lot. 1 other table inside. So, not crowded. Our waiter took our drink orders, one at a time. So 8 different trips back and forth grabbing drinks. He told 3 of us they didn't check ID's (quick way to get shut down, which probably wouldn't be a bad thing). One of us ordered an Angry Orchard and was brought a Mich Ultra and told they were out of Angry Orchard. Another guy ordered a Corona and was also brought a Mich Ultra. The waiter was confused on why both of these was a problem. The kids meal taco was served in a corn tortilla (which is weird-odd tasting-and I don't know many kids that would eat them) We had to ask to get just a flour tortilla. I ordered a spinach and chicken quesadilla with cheese on top-pretty simple right? No. First time- I was brought a spinach quesadilla with cheese on top. Second time- I was brought a spinach and chicken quesadilla with no cheese. Third tome- finally right. My husband ordered just a beef quesadilla and a beef burrito. He was brought the two meals, charged for them and they would not fix the bill. So basically $20 for a quesadilla and burrito. One girl ordered the ACP and her chicken tasted odd. Another guy had to send his back a couple of times as well because the order continuously was wrong. All in all-food was not great, service was the worst, prices were absurd. Tried it once, will NOT be back. Free food couldn't even persuade me to turn my car into the parking lot. read more

My husband and I just happened to be on a day trip to Gaffney when we saw this place across the street from Winn-Dixie, where we were. We decided to stop by for dinner and we're so glad we did. First, the staff greets you like familia. Then you sit and see the artwork and Mexican movie stills on the wall (fact: my abuelita did work for the Mexican division of Columbia Pictures years before I was born). Then you order and make a little conversation with the waiter, which you don't mind, because again, you feel like you're with family. I had the milanesa de pollo, probably the best I've had ever. The waiter did inform me that the kitchen was out of flan (which I always order for dessert when I go to Mexican or Cuban restaurants), so I opted for caramel-filled churros and chocolate sauce instead. How were they, you ask? In two words, muhfuckin' tasty! I do hope to return when and if we go back to Gaffney (maybe then I could try your flan), because everything was delicious as hell. Service wasn't that great. Food was ok. Definitely nothing special but it was decent. Fajita nachos were good!

Great carne asada, spanish rice and salad. Caramel churros and vanilla ice cream w cinnamon n honey. Super fast and courteous service.

Ok food ,waitress was her 3rd day .bar was packed with a loud crowd ,cursing .then we when we checked out another guest cursing at waitress and she was cursing back .very unprofessional place .will not last ,police need to patrol this place .very sketchy . read more

This is good food, especially the chorizo tacos, but I grew up in California and no food there tasted like this. Wonder from where in California this type of food originated? The quesadillas did not appeal to my grandchildren who grew up eating Mexican food. I have a feeling you either like or dislike the food at Cantinita Grill & Bar. read more

Great Mexican food, always hot and fresh. The restaurant has a salsa bar where you can pick any flavor to add to your food. The staff are very friendly and sociable. Great service and clean restaurant. If you want a cocktail they have a array of drinks on their menu. Please stop by this restaurant and enjoy every aspect of it. read more
