I went to make a to-go order right after last week's ice storm and man, was it good. I requested the large Texas fajitas, two chicken soft tacos and an order of rice. The fajitas came in a sealed aluminum tray with two guacamole salads, the tacos and rice in separate containers. Everything was really tasty, the portions were generous, and I especially liked that the salsa they included was a little spicy. The waiters were quick to answer a couple of questions I had for them. I was really impressed with this restaurant. It reminded me of a 50s diner which was comfortable and had a lot of seating. We were there after the lunch rush so there weren't a lot of people and the service was impeccably fast! I had their popular Texas ACP which was shrimp, steak and chicken over Spanish rice and then topped with their white cheese sauce! It was delicious and fresh. The shrimp had a nice snap to them and not overcooked! I liked the cheese sauce but would order it on the side next time because it was too much for me. Bonus is that this was the special of the day so it was $1 less than the menu price! The salsa brought to the table with chips was my favorite, but the salsa's at the bar were excellent too. I was in the mood for something different, after having American traditional meals for the last two weeks I came across El Michoacán a Mexican restaurant / Diner. The reviews were pretty good and I became intrigued. From the outside it looks like a regular diner. But from the time you open the door you hear a moderate level volume of Mexican music playing softly in the background and greeted with a big smile in a classical diner setting it becomes evident that you're in for a non-traditional treat. It was just me tonight but they place me right by the TV. And within one minute I had traditional nachos with red sauce and a slightly spicier sauce also. My first drink was the Liquid Marijuana ( adult beverage ). It was something I hadn't tried before. But I can tell it's one of those drinks that can sneak up on you before the night is over, Very smooth and lightly sweet. Next up was my main course the Steak & Chicken Fajita and my drink of choice was a Mexican beer Modelo. I tell you I couldn't eat it all but I try to LOL. I didn't have room for dessert, but I ordered it anyway ( i'm no quitter ). I had to see when the food was that good was the desert lacking? No it wasn't it was outstanding also ( try the Xango ). The whole experience was great. I walked away with my belly full and my expectations exceeded!! ( Positive Memories ) I wanted to switch it up tonight. To do or have something different. Stopped here on a road trip through town looking for something besides the regular fast food joints. The place was pretty busy but the food came in about 20 minutes. La favorita was quite appropriately my favorite dish. The cheesy rice fiesta with the shrimp, chicken, and steak was indeed a fiesta in my mouth. Great portion too. My wife liked the carne asada and the guac that came with it. The only thing we didn't love was the pork torta which was a bit dry. The food was excelente!!!! I had the Arranchero steak plate and everything was so tasty and the cactus salsa was delicious! My friends had the baja fish tacos and the grilled chicken tacos and said they were so tasty and the tacos were so full-they did not skimp on the filling! I've drive pass this place time and time again to go to the outlet next door. It's always busy or someone having a steady flow of customers. Today was the day. We called our order in and picked up the food in 15 minutes before getting our shopping on. Wow the disappointment is real. I ordered 2 steak tacos with side of rice and beans. The rice and beans were missing completely. The taco, if you could call it that was bits of steak in corn tortillas. No onion or cilantro or tomatoe cheese and lettuce. It was the saddest taco I've seen. The torta was soggy and had no favor. The chicken quesadilla was ok. I think this place gets its business due to proximity and lack of other Mexican food nearby because it didn't wasn't the food. read more

My wife and I spend considerable time in Mexico each year, and I say that El Michoacan is just about the most authentic Mexican food we've encountered north of the border. Their dishes are seasoned traditionally and one can tell that a great deal of care goes into the preparation of each one. Service was fast, efficient, and courteous. This place had good reviews and was within walking distance of my hotel so I had to try. First, I was very surprised to see it packed on a Tuesday evening, took that as a good sign. Extensive menu but almost everything had meat or cheese. Asked the Host if he could just put together a burrito with black beans and all the veggies they had. He assured me it wasn't a problem and was off. The Spinach Wrap/Burrito was huge. It was a little oily for my liking but did come up onions, peppers, zucchini, spinach and avocado. The salsa bar is a great way to spice up their table chips (cucumber salsa ftw!), but their guac and queso are great too. Pro tip - get some "chunky guac" - you are welcome. I am from Texas, so it's not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it was really good. We both had different types of fajitas. I had the steak, shrimp, ham, and pineapple fajitas. My wife had the carnitas fajitas. They were both very good and, again, huge portions! The best part for me was their salsa bar. It was very "Americanized" because all of them weren't hat spicy. I wanted the hottest I could find, and they had a green habanero salsa that did it for me. Their other salsas have good flavor too, just not as spicy as I would have liked.
