I called from Shelby to Boiling springs phone was busy . I got there to place a to go order after working 10 hours. Waited 52 minutes for a ACP Chicken and 4 oz cheese dip ....got home and there was honestly less than 4 small chicken. strips over rice no cheese . So basically it's Taco Bell without the drive-thru. If I wanted "Mexican food" made with ground hamburger instead of real beef, I'd hit up Taco Bell and at least get it faster. I have eaten at El Acapulco in Boiling Springs for over ten years now and last night we were very disappointed. In their defense, they were extremely busy and we waited almost fifty minutes on a call in order we placed from home, thirty minutes of which we spent at the restaurant! The Texas ACP was a smaller portion than usual with very little chicken, steak or shrimp. The vegetables were stir fried and barely cooked. Normally this is a great entree to choose. My grilled chicken quesadilla was decent but the salad was a few strips of lettuce (they must have been running low on lettuce). The guacamole had been sitting a while and had a slight brown appearance and no seasoning was added. All that being said, hopefully it was just an off night and we will give them another try but no time in the future. read more

The food is always fast and fresh, service is amazing and the margaritas are HUGE! Everything you would want from a Mexican place!!! We come here at least once per week! read more

Well to be in North Carolina during Covid lock downs it is rare to find many places to set down and eat. It wasnt packed but the food was ok it wasnt the best but wasnt the worst. It is great for the money and fast. They always have fresh chips. They have good sweet tea and waiters. They have good quality lean meats. They sometimes get heavy on tomato usage in the fajitas. They do not have liquor. It is only beer. It always appears to be crowded in the parking lot but they always have a seat. It is clean and well. It is my favorite Mexican in the area. read more

El Acapulco is the best Mexican Restaurant in the uptown area of Shelby. Anything you get here will be phenomenal. My personal favorite is the Torta which is a sandwich with either Chicken, pork, or steak with delicious toppings. The quesadilla Guerrero is also very delicious. Service can be a bit slow sometimes depending on when you go. Overall a good restaurant and if you're looking for Mexican food in the uptown area El Acapulco is your best bet. read more

The food here is good and fresh. My mom doesn't like guacamole but because yours is made fresh she ate it!Awesomeness! I even got her to try food she has never tried. I am happy you cooked me fish tacos that are not even not on the menu and they were good! Thank you for doing that for me. My mom tried them for the first time and liked them. This restaurant is not at this location in Shelby, it may be the address for Boiling Springs?! - But NOT N Main St in Shelby! The photo shown is also not of the Shelby location! It is uptown off of the Square, near the County Courthouse... 301 S. DeKalb Street, on the corner of DeKalb and East Graham Street. Anyway, the El Acapulco in Shelby is a nice little place that has been upgrading every year I have lived in Shelby. The restaurant is small but serviceable and the dining room was recently reworked with hard-carved, hand-painted tables....worth a stop to eat just to see the colors! The food is quite good, the margaritas are not bad at all, and they will easily accommodate a Vegan. Chips and Salsa are plentiful, as are the drink refills. Fried Ice Cream is a great way to finish. read more

I enjoy little family type Mexican restaurants, instead of chains. We've been here several times, one favorite is Raul's burrito. They have excellent horchata as well. Prices are reasonable. I'm not a fan of the cheese sauce they use, it's OK, but I would prefer a variety of Mexican cheeses instead. read more

The service here is terrible. My family and I waited for refills for about 20 minutes after we already asked the server twice. We also noticed that most of the tables remained dirty throughout the whole service. When we sat down we just assumed that they just finished a huge rush of people. We were wrong. Two employees talked, ordered pizza, and ate their pizza while one man did all of the work. With that being said, the food was good. Not great, just good. It was very underwhelming. I am not a huge fan of mexican food to begin with but this place it pretty good when your hungry around lunch time. They bring you endless nachos and salsa which i dont know of a mexican rest. that doesnt and the nachos grandes are really good, as are the cheese and chicken quesadillas. Good place for lunch, just make sure and drink some water when eating the salsa, I think its rather spicy. read more

My wife and I are long time customers of El Acapulco, since they opened the doors and have seen it all. Over the last year or so, the service and been stellar and the food is very good. The owners and wait staff are friendly and know what we like. The food is the best in Boiling Springs, regardless of genre.
