Excellent food and great service, my husband and I really enjoyed a great meal at Frida's Tacos & Tequila very nice restaurant

I honestly don't understand why this place is only rated 4.2. That's not fair at all. I was driving from Orlando to Georgia, and luckily I found this place on the way. My kids ordered the soft and hard tacos, and they absolutely loved them. The Mexican rice was so flavorful and juicy--not dry at all. I ordered the fish... man, it was incredible! The atmosphere was great, and our waitress was amazing. I forgot her name, but after watching the whole team, I'm pretty sure everyone there provides excellent service. I'll definitely be stopping by again on my way back to Orlando next week. See you guys soon! read more

Great service and decor. We loved the mariachi band. They were great! The food left a little to be desired. The chips and salsa were on the table extremely quick and while the chips were good, the salsa tasted very "ketchupy " to me. No chunks of tomatoes etc. My Domican wife was aghast at the color of the rice. At first she thought it was carrots. Fluorescent orange. She didn't touch it. While my meal lacked flavor, I goggled it as I was hungry but, I must share, the next day, there were "things" that parted with me that were VERY orange, if ya know what I mean. Do they overuse saffron? All we know is that things that shouldn't be orange, were orange. Give it a try but, please report back to me if you experience the same. I regret not taking pictures. No wait time to get seated. Beautiful restaurant and my family loved it.Our server Madison was great attentive and helpful. Prices and portions are good. Here are recommendations of what to try the next time you stop by: Drinks: Jamaica (non alcoholic) Michelada (alcoholic) Entrees: Steak Poblano- stuffed poblano peppers with cheese and steak Carne Asada- perfectly marinated Quesadillas and Rice-Kids Meal Each of the adult entrees include rice and a beans with tortillas. Good, authentic Mexican food in FL is not easy to come by. Most "Mexican" food restaurants serve TexMex which IS NOT Mexican food. This place serves real Mexican food with the true flavors of Guadalajara and other regions. As an ex SolCal native, I consider myself an expert regarding the cusines of Mexico and this place is the real deal. Eat here if you love authentic Mexican food. Beautiful restaurant decor. Super open bright and fun. Big bar that has an inside and outside area. Patio as well for outdoor dining. Huge space with lots of tables and booths Great menu, all the options you would expect. Bar menu and options are huge. This place is ready for big business. Just opened not long ago. Native Texan always looking for authentic Tex-mex. This place is our new favorite. Greta salsa. Amazing cheese enchiladas. Perfect chili rellenos. Excellent rice and beans. We will be working our way through the menu but when you come order Fernando's favorite. It will give you a taste of everything. If you order Margarita, just know the large is a quart. Frida's is not your typical burritos and tacos restaurant. They of course have those (a wide variety) but they also have much more - more than quesadillas and chimichangas (which they also have.) Their menu book is literally a book with so many offerings. I was there for lunch and I tried the Rice bowl Tejano. Amazing!! Just delicious. Came with shrimps and chicken and beef which in themselves are already flavorful. But combined in one spoonful they perform a delicious symphony in your mouth! And those shrimps are not your teeny weeny might-as-well- not included them size either. They are fairly medium size! and the serving is generous - probably 4 or 5 in the bowl (Check the photo). And properly cooked too - not rubbery or tough but tender. The interior is surrounded with Mayan and Aztec influences on the walls - very colorful. The seats and booths are blue leatherette (so comfortable) that coordinates well with the patterned tiles on the floor. A designer look. The blue theme is carried into their clean restroom (men) with blue tiles on the walls. Excellent service rounds up the whole experience. Denisse was solicitous in checking what else I needed - but not obtrusive. Definitely a place I can frequent for there are many more to taste. Highly recommend this place specially those who think of Mexican cuisine as burritos and tacos only. read more

About 30 minutes ago, around 1:00 PM during lunch hours, I placed two fajita orders. I was charged $50.43, including a Zero Coke. At no point did anyone mention or confirm "Texas Fajitas," which is what I was given. My order was very clear and specific: one chicken and shrimp fajita, and one steak and shrimp fajita. When I arrived at my destination, I realized the tortillas were missing. I honestly do not understand how something so basic can be forgotten, especially when the restaurant was only moderately busy. I called simply to inform you of the issue so you would be aware of the poor service. The only options offered were for me to drive back and pick up the tortillas or receive a discount on a future purchase. To be honest, I do not plan on returning. This experience felt careless and misleading, and it is disappointing to see customers being charged incorrectly while receiving mediocre service. read more

I had mixed feelings about my visit to Frida's Taco and Tequila. On the positive side, my waitress ( I was a party of 1) was very attentive and provided great service throughout the meal. I was on a work called and she checked on me often ( requesting a thumbs up without disturbing my call). The atmosphere was fun, lively, and visually appealing walking in. They also had a good beer selection, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. The presentation was sloppy, and more importantly the quality just wasn't there (EXTREMELY disappointing) . I ordered the simplest things considering the menu book. The wings and the fish in the tacos both looked and tasted like pre-breaded, frozen items rather than fresh, made-to-order food. I'm almost certain it was. Overall, great service and vibe seems fun ( although it less than 10 ppl during my visit), but the food quality needs serious attention and improvement. read more

Been here a couple of times and this place is fantastic. I enjoy Mexican food and I'm always on the lookout for a good restaurant. We moved into Ocala about a year ago and so far this is the my favorite. They have a giant bar and the decorations in the restaurant are really cool. The food tastes very authentic, the beer is cold and the service is great and quick. Each time we were here we've had Brittany serving us and she is just the best. This was such a great meal... The service was impeccable! Just so attentive and friendly! Kept the refills coming! The ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. The flowers, the artwork, the tiling, and the outdoor seating was amazing. They had a beautiful bar that looked large and could see a lot of people. I highly recommend this place... Came for lunch and I had a feeling from the moment I stepped through the door that the food would be tasty. Tasty is actually a bit of an understatement. I got steak nachos and a passionfruit smoothie while my companion got taquitos and a modelo. Sooooooo good. The ambiance is a little loud music wise but you can still easily hold a conversation. If you are vegetarian I highly recommend you DO NOT eat at this establishment. I ordered the veggie bowl off the vegetarian menu and as I was eating, I found beef in my bowl. The man in charge came to my table to apologize but the damage was done. He said he was going to talk to the cook because he's told her multiple times to cook vegetarian dishes separately, so clearly this has been an ongoing issue in their kitchen. I was just offered a replacement meal which I declined, I do not trust or want anything that comes from their kitchen. My tab was comped and apologies were offered but it doesn't change the fact my religious and moral beliefs were violated. I trusted this establishment and they failed me. Their incompetence and disregard for their vegetarian patrons is unacceptable. I will NEVER go back. read more

The decorations and the ambiance of this restaurant are beautiful and great!! The service was good due to the kindness of the host and some other staff we interacted with however our server was not the best. Had to ask for salt and pepper, napkins, silverware, and drink refills after she passed our table a few times before she would stop. Another table she was serving noted the same. The food: The salsa that comes out with the chips lacked flavor. Added salt to "fix" it which didn't help at all so we just left them. There were 4 of us and I was the only one who enjoyed my meal. My friend's comments about the food was it was tasteless, no seasoning, and comparisons to other places that are so much better. I ordered a ranchero burrito and i enjoyed it. My friends each tried a bite and enjoyed it. This dish had a good flavor and the portion size was good size for a big eater or 2 could share. read more

I've been several times now trying different food choices. The Milanesa both steak and chicken was excellent. The ground beef chili rellanos also excellent. I did have the gubernador chicken tacos, they were just ok, the chicken was dry. My husband had burritos and enchiladas both of which he said were bland. The margaritas are good. Overall I would give them a 4 to 5 star review depending on the selection. With the service factored in, a 5 for sure. I will be going back. The ambiance is very nice. read more

It's not hyperbole to say this is perhaps the most beautiful and best Mexican restaurant in Marion county! Whether you dine inside in their gorgeous dining room or on their outdoor patio, you're in for a perfect meal. Been their a couple times, most recently with our lunch group of about a dozen ladies and everyone of them was amazed by the food and the service - We'll definitely be going back again very soon! Our server was Brittney and she was just wonderful! Everyone chose something different and everyone thought their lunch was the best - I had one of their huge burritos - Burrito de Carnitas and was very impressed with the flavor of the large, tender, succulent pieces of pork. I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the margaritas are great. I ordered Fernando's Favorite, a sampler of several items, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to the rest of the experience. The red sauce wasn't very good--honestly, canned enchilada sauce would have been better. The white cheese on the chile relleno tasted like processed American cheese, and overall the flavors across the sampler were mediocre. My husband had the Cowboy Rice, which had better flavor but was overly salty. We might come back another time to try different dishes and hopefully have better luck. read more

Our server was friendly and helpful with our questions and checked on us regularly. Our table had four different entrees. Comments on each were excellent for great flavor and quantity. The grilled chicken and beef used in the dishes was authentic with excellent flavor and texture. Everything was perfectly prepared. Just had lunch on Sunday 12-28 and it was great. Of ocurse it is brand new, big bar, large tv's for sports watching. Started with a margarita and a beer with tequila. The guacamole was made fresh table side. Excellant.... We had fish tacos for the lunch special. [ 12.99 ] Came with cabbage, etc black beans and yellow rice on the side. I really wanted to love this restaurant. 1st time here. I eat at various Mexican restaurants in Marion county about 12 times a month. We visited yesterday,got there at 11 when they opened. Beautiful place, great service...but everything else was not good. Watermelon margarita was good,but regular margarita had way too much tequilia. Food came quickly, large blue and white plates had chips in them, about every 1-2 inches around the edge of whole plate. Both of ours. They needed to be thrown away. Not safe! Ordered Chimichanga, it was so tiny and the white cheese it was covered with had a weird taste. Rice was bright orange and tasteless, as were the beans. Also ordered Quesadilla, which was one tiny tortilla filled with shredded chicken and folded over. Again rice and beans were tasteless. Too many negatives that we won't be returning. read more

A new restaurant in Ocala that isn't more fast/junk food. But there is so much more to love. Every aspect of this Mexican restaurant is wonderful. A different and creative food and drink menu. Food was fresh, high quality ingredients and delicious. With great presentation. Drinks were very good. They even have flights for Margaritas so you can sample. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great design/decoration inside. Outdoors is semi shielded by hanging (artificial) flowers elevating the space close to a parking lot. The bar seating is in the patio but facing the indoor restaurant and tv. The servers were all pleasant and helpful. With just the right amount of attention, frequently checking without seeming intrusive. If I missed anything else it would also get a rave review. read more
