The food was amazing! Home cooking!!! Yum yum. I had the soup encabollado de pescado with white rice and plantain chips. My husband had the Lomo Saltado de Res with yellow rice, black beans, and avocado salad. Both were excellent and full of flavor! The service was top notch! Highly Recommend!!!!

Xavier was our server and he took the best care of us! We had the sampler appetizer and the homemade jalapeño poppers followed by steak tacos with black beans and rice. Then we got a tamale, omg so delicious, and the Ecuadorian fish soup stole the show i added fresh jalapeños to mine and it only made it better

Delicious little place on the outskirts of downtown Ocala. The starter chips and salsa was on point so you know it's going to be good when they hit! I had their variety of authentic prepared tacos and they were packed full! Tostones were crispy and delicious and topped it off with a horchata drink which was super tasty. Xavier gave great service and recommended I come back for the stew! 10/10!

We went for lunch on a week day and were the only people there. Don't let that deter you! Both men there were so nice and made sure everything was good multiple times. I love when a Mexican restaurant offers black beans instead of refried beans, and this place did! It was decorated nicely and clean. We sat outside! The food was great too. We got a veggie burrito and a chimichanga after we inhaled a ton of chips and salsa. Would recommend and would come back!

The interior is clean and fun. Great staff by the way too.

Please try the absolute best empanadas I've ever had anywhere. The pork empanadas came to my table, hot and unimaginably tasty. I also went with the three taco plate, which were also awesome. What a fantastic meal, great service and a comfortable atmosphere. This is a first grade Mexican restaurant that I will be sure to come back to many many times. Glad I tried it.

One of the best Mexican Food, or Tex-Mex options in Ocala. I am delighted to introduce to you, My Quate. Thanks to my dutiful and ever so faithful hubby who encouraged me to eat out again after a disappointing jaunt to another restaurant that shall not be named, I mustered up the courage to try My Quate yesterday and boy, did it deliver. For one, the wall mural outside facing the parking lot of Frida Kahlo was a beautiful touch/addition and upon entering, I was greeted with Julieta Venega's "Me Voy", which clued me in that I was in for a treat. Starting with the house salsa, it was mighty tasty and reminded me of another delicious restaurant, El Mezcal. However, what set My Quate apart are their drinks, salsa verde, and guacamole mix - and of course the main dish, Quesadilla - Beef a La Mexicana. Starting first with the drinks - I ordered tamarindo and Hubby ordered Orchata. The Tamarindo slushy was the best that I have ever had - and that's saying a lot. While I've never had it in slushy form, it dawned on me as I was having it yesterday that it was the perfect delivery. The drinks packed a delightful punch and I can see it exceedingly satiating after a hot day - and it tastes like a mangonada (where you can find at La Michoacana). The Horchata was also smooth, and sprinkled with cinammon on top. The drinks were extremely enjoyable, and I look forward to having it again soon. Next, we have the Quesadilla - Beef a la Mexicana. Truth be told, I've never tasted this dish before, and it did not disappoint. It was original, authentic, and an interpretation of the owner's rendition of the quesadilla - where the beef was juicy (as it appeared to have been made as a stew with savory spices, onions, jalepenos and carrots). On top of that, the melted cheese along with the lightly crusted tortilla appears to melt in your mouth was extremely delicious. My hubby ordered 3 taco plate with grilled chicken, ground beef and shredded beef. It too, came out delicious and left me excited to try their shredded beef plates. The hostess came out often to check on us and to make sure that we got the best service possible, while also recommending the fish and shrimp soup. All in all, this is a restaurant that knows good food, and how to serve it. We left content and looking forward to coming back to enjoying some good food.

So delicious! Great food, great service, everything was wonderful. The vibes were there with the music and overall cozy casita look. Definitely recommend if you're in Ocala!

Best Mexican food I've had since I left Los Angeles, where I grew up. Get the tamales, the empanadas, and the chicken tortilla soup.

We stopped in spontaneously for drinks due to walking around for an event downtown. It is usually really crowded every time we pass by but decided to finally make an attempt and sit at the bar. Our first two times we sat at the bar inside and the third time we were finally able to sit at the bar outside. All three times we were served by the same bartender. We recently stopped in for a drink on our way home and also sat at the bar, dealing with the same bartender. There was only 1 time visited where she was pleasant, friendly, and attentive. Our most recent visit, we stopped in an hour prior to closing just for a drink at the bar. We were met with "we are doing last call" instead of hello. Even my husband noticed and commented on it, which is rare for him. We only ate here once and the food was pretty good. I was skeptical because many reviews were not positive but I think that was due to the speed of service. Hubs and I have been wanting to visit for one of nights that have specials, like Taco Tuesday but many reviews talk about not being able to take full advantage of the specials. There is a Wine Wednesday special as well. Maybe next time we go, we will sit at a table for a different experience.

On the table were menus and we started looking the menu items over. At the time there were two other patrons, a mother & child. Once done we waited to be approached by any staff member. We waited 10 minutes so I went to the bar and asked someone behind the bar if anyone was working the dining area. After a surprised look I was told that someone would be with us. 'Brenda' came to the table with glasses & a carafe of ice water then left. She returned to take our order...I ordered the chimichanga & my wife a beef enchilada plate. It was another 8-10 minutes until we got a basket of corn chips & salsa - after I asked for one! When our meals arrived both looked good...however both were spectacularly underwhelming! While the flavor of the chimichanga was good due to the ranchero sauce & queso on top, the inside was composed of LOTS of rice, a few bell pepper slices & minimal pulled chicken breast. It was also nicely fried & crunchy. The side of black beans was simple - open can, drain juice & serve. No attempt to add any spice or flavor to them. My wife's four ground beef enchiladas had flavor only due to the same ranchero sauce & cheese as the ground beef was totally under-seasoned, if at all. Her side dish was refried beans - again out of a can to the bowl and top with some queso. All in all we could find no reason to rate the restaurant with anything positive.

I walked in and the place was a little dirty. I figured it was because of the turnover of people and minimal staff, but it definitely caught my eye. I went up to the counter to place my order. I ordered a steak burrito and a coke. I had planned to eat in the restaurant, paid my bill, and quickly took a seat. I parked at a high top in the corner because it was just me and came to realize that the table was dirty. I took it upon myself to wipe it down before taking a seat. I opened up my company to do some work and watched as more people came in. Maybe 15 minutes later my food came. The chips were fresh and well salted. The burrito itself was really good, too! It was huge and had a lot of steak in it. The jalapenos, as always, are spicy - which I like. Overall, decent experience at this establishment and a good place to take a seat on your lunch break.
