WOW!! Ronald's, you got some SERIOUS competition! Talk about perfect timing...we were the LAST customers at the Frost Bites trailer, we got the LAST cup of Banana Snow, and it was 8pm. I see in the distance, an OPEN light flashing at Friendly's Donut House. I said to myself "Self, we're here and they're still open, so we might as well check it out?......LESSSSSSSGO!!! It's 8pm, there's also a dude with his family enjoying their loot, but they were definite regulars because this guy was like Yoda in a Troy Polamalu Jersey nodding his head as he saw me peruse the FULL case snapping shots of donut goodness(at 8pm!?!?!) wifey and I are ready to place our order, I open my wallet, and I find A CRISP ONE DOLLAR BILL.......Nooooooo!!! Friendly's, like Ronald's is a cash only business. Luckily, the guy behind the counter mentioned that there was an ATM at Smith's. The guy in the jersey says very calmly "The Glazed is good.....The Glazed is good." The worker adds with a smirk "The Maple Bars should be out by the time you get back." So I made like Usain Bolt and 50-yard dashed it to Smith's, and bolted back to see the guy placing the WARM maple bars in the case...:9 We HAD to get a Maple Bar, and also got another one of my favorites, Chocolate glazed Bavarian cream donut, a HUGE apple fritter, and a Cherry glazed French Cruller. On his way out, the guy in the Jersey reminds me-"Twist Glazed...Twist Glazed." and as he said, we got a Twist Glazed which was also warm and did not disappoint! Friendly Donut House has this times ten! I came here on Saturday around eleven-in-the-morning, which was a mistake because most of the counter was cleaned out. Definitely get here in the early morning hours or later afternoon, that's when the counter is fully stocked and ready for snacking according to the donut guy. I started loading up my pink donut box with the classics; Apple Fritters, Old Fashions, Glazed Chocolate Sprinkles, Coconut Covered Donuts, Cinnamon Crumbs, and Cherry frosted donuts. As I was ordering fresh batches of donuts were slowly coming out, including a tray filled with old-fashioned buttermilk donut bars. These all looked amazing and are not for the person looking for low calories treats. The Highlights: - The Apple Fritter was huge and had that great shiny glaze on top. It was super soft, doughy, and not sweet on the inside. This could be easily shared with two people. It could have used more apples on the inside, buts that my opinion. - The Buttermilk Bars were fantastic. Both the maple covered and classic flavor were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on this inside. - Cinnamon Crumb Cake. These were coming out right as I was about to pay and I had to add them to my dozen. Warm, sweet and amazing. A definite must try when visiting the Friendly Donut House. I also had to buy to two cartons of Anderson Dairy milk to keep the nostalgia train rolling. Krispy Kreme and Pink Box get a lot of attention these days, however there are a lot of small local places that should get your attention. Like this place! Just a small shop with some BIG ASS APPLE FRITTERS. They also have other fancy donuts that pair well with milk, coffee and hot chocolate. But those fritters, they had to be 6" in diameter. Friendlys donuts are amazing, hands down the best I've ever had. Their glaze has a delicious yellow tint, and the donuts themselves are soft and springy, just overall perfect. Not too dense, not too airy... you just need to come here! But fair warning, they're not your typical donut shop where they make fresh donuts first thing in the morning. They make fresh batches late in the evening around 6pm at least for the glazed ones. The rest of their delicious arsenal is ready around 8pm. So you can go in the morning around 7 and probably be fine, but after 10am it's pretty slim pickings. Worth the wait! read more

We got 4 donuts and it came out to $8.07 well I only had $8 I told her I be right back I was going to walk to my car and grab the .07 cents. No problems. It was a very fast process. We picked, she places the items in the box and we were out of there. The price is very reasonable, we paid $10.00 for one dozen donuts. We got it as a gift to bring for a friend for an early morning appointment. CASH ONLY. The house was full of patrons which were mostly veterans. I love establishments who are kind and cater to Veterans, being one myself. It had a lot of energy and the place was buzzing with conversations and laughters. There was a family with two small children and they seemed happy to eat their morning treats. The place was clean and when we left, there were more patrons entering the place.
