Most bread is very thick and filling but this bread is light and not filling. It's fluffy. It's almost like it's not even there. You could eat the whole box and not even notice as it doesn't make you feel like you ate anything. Normally 1-2 pieces of bread and you're stuffed or feel heavy in the tummy but this stuff, you don't feel or notice at all. It's like eating clouds with a bit of sweetness. Specializing in Filipino favorites, they've been hanging out in a sprawling plaza on Eastern and Windmill for a little over 3 years now. I had the señorita bread, a kinda breadstick-looking thing with butter and sugar. It's sold in multiples of 5 for $4.00, which is reasonable for a small snack/dessert. We apparently got ours fresh from the oven because they were very hot and a bunch of customers were all waiting for orders. The señorita bread is more chewy than flaky. It may even lean into gooey a bit. The butter is more noticeable than the sugar. I wouldn't say it was amazing since I was still hungry enough after lunch, but it is a fun treat that probably has nostalgic value for some people. Starbread Bakery is an interesting spot. I'll consider returning for mochi donuts or malasadas some time once I'm in the mood for them, or perhaps checking out the happy hour 5-6pm for $1 pastries if I'm ever in the area and remember that it exists. read more
