I got the cinnamon roll sundae from the seasonal menu and it was really good. I got the regular size, but I don't think I made it halfway through. It was just too sweet and too much for me. We love Italian ice and whenever we come across it we have to get some. As we we a slow day today, we trekked out to Henderson to try CJ's. OMG! Great flavors and most importantly they had chocolate and cherry ice which are hubby's favorite flavors. Since they had custard we got the latti which is ice layerd with custard. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs because the serving of custard on top was massive! A small next time because there will definitely be a next time. Another nightly trip here! Got 2 small gelatis and they were good!! The custard on top of the Italian ice. You can choose from vanilla, chocolate, and twist (combo). The vanilla custard was the best and pairs best with the Italian ice. They have many ice flavors. We got coconut Dr. pepper, cotton candy, strawberry, and mango Chamoy. Moving from Cali and wanting something that was similar to Joe's in Anaheim by Disney (iykyk) and I stumbled upon this place. The flavors are vastly different from Joes but still very good! 4.5 stars. Came here on a Sunday night and the workers were really busy attending to customers plus online orders being picked up. The service wasn't the greatest but they were really busy so that might've been why. Ambiance has a cute vibe to it with decorations throughout. There's a couple of tables/chairs to sit at but the place can get a little packed with the people waiting in line right next to the tables. I ordered a small gelati with strawberry Italian ice and vanilla custard. The custard was creamy and flavorful and pairs nicely with the strawberry Italian ice which was soft and not too icy. Stopped in after a day at the Galleria mall. It was quick, and the employee taking our order was very kind. There were lots of options , but I decided to start off simple - I choose the classic vanilla, with marshmallow and cheese cake bites. For those just wanting a "kick start," I would recommend that to start, unless you're a pro and want to jump into all of the extra delights! Fudge, sprinkles, brownies, etc. By the way, there isn't a seating area. You can eat in your car or take it to go. I did mine to go, as I live less than 5 mins away. I prefer Nielsen's Frozen Custard over this ice cream. Nielsen's seems to have more flavor and the atmosphere feels a lot more welcoming and less rushed. This was my first visit to CJ's Italian Ice & Custard and I can say that the location was not great and I don't think the wait was worth it at all. I have driven by CJ's for years without actually trying. Tonight was finally the night that changed. It is located in a busy shopping center in Green Valley across from the Galleria Mall. Food The menu is almost intimidating at first glance with some many options. As their name indicates, they sell Italian Ices and custard, which makes the choice hard. They don't have a whole lot of concrete options, which is what I usually go with. I went with the Key Lime Pie concrete, which was the special that month. The concrete tastes like a key lime pie. The rest of my party all ordered something different ranging from ice cream with cookie dough, the S'mores concrete, and ices. Every item was very good. 5/5 Service Like most similar establishments, you order from the counter and make your way down to pick them up at the end. With so many different options, staff have to be knowledgeable about the menu and how to make things. It was kind of busy, but they handled it well. 4/5 Ambiance CJ's doesn't occupy a huge space, but they do a good job with what they have. They have a fun selfie well next to the entrance that you can take photos. The menu is easy to read and they have paper menus to go. It was also mostly clean and overall inviting. 4/5 With so many different options for desserts in the valley, CJ's offers a unique variety of options that other places don't. The young lady, whose name I didn't get, was working totally by herself!!!! She had no one to help her out...and not once did she have a bad attitude. She was very professional during all of this. She tried a couple more small bites and was making a face so I asked her what was wrong. She said it tasted sour and had an off texture. Mentioned it to the worker and asked if she could get something else because it tasted bad and she couldn't eat it. She says "yah she can get something else but you have to pay for it". I reiterate that it tastes bad and she's not satisfied with the product and the girl says she will call her manager. Time goes by as the ice cream is melting over the top, and she comes back and says the manager would only take off 50% off the purchase of a different item but we still have to pay. Are you freaking kidding me!? You have moldy strawberries on your Sundae , well forget about getting a refund or something else made, cuz you will have to pay again! They burn your brownie and you say something about it. Guess what they're going to make you pay for another one! Sour dairy product, suck it up and eat it or pay for something else! You are in a food service business and you don't care about the quality of your food and make people pay double to get something of quality to make them happy and want to return - especially loyal customers who have been coming for years!? Make it make sense!! Something that could have easily been fixed and you chose to do the opposite. Ew! When she was scooping my Italian ice I was shocked at how much she was packing it into the cup. She had fit 4-5 scoops into my regular size cup, when I had thought she was just gonna stop at 2 scoops when I was watching her.
