    Kolachis and donuts
    Lorri P.

Had been craving either a chocolate cake or donut for a Over a week and I finally decided on a donut so I caved in. I wanted a new spot so this came up. 20 minutes from home but I like to drive for food lol The man was super nice and friendly. The location was clean and easy to find. I got 2 long John's and 2 glazed donuts. The long John's were too crunchy and oily for me unfortunately. I just ate 1. The glazed on the other hand, wow! I actually had milk with both and it was DELICIOUS! They sell kolachis here (they are popular in TX) so that's good for a future reference.

26 Minutes, 1 Stale Donut, 2 happy kids, zero regret. Infinite Life Lessons So lemme set the scene... I was in a mood. A Weird, almost 40, post-breakup, "Am I gonna be alone forever? Is this my life?" kinda mood, on account of Aunt Flow pulling up and doing her usual demolition job on my life. I'd been eating watermelon and kale all week (yay, self-care), but .... by the time 7:45 PM rolled around ya girl needed .... real self care. I googled donut places like a true adult. Naturally, I picked the highest-rated ones and found this gem: Rainbows Donuts. It had a solid 4.9, which is 0.1 higher than Masters Donuts, the actual best in Vegas. And it was a whole 5.9 miles away. I could've taken the freeway in 20 minutes, but I was listening to a super enlightening audiobook about a Vegas hooker, so I figured I'd take the scenic route and give the night a little drama. Yeah, I got dressed, packed up my dog and drove 26 minutes at night... for a donut. Some would call this an addiction the ladies in my book ... a fetish. The drive? Sketch AF! Took me into parts of Vegas that I SHANT FORGET. Lord have mercy, I ain't bougie, but gottdamn... Chillee... the ghettoooo... A bitch was locking them Lexus doors every seconds 'cause sh!!!!!t... I digress... I ended up in a strip mall that looked like it hadn't seen a makeover since '99. no shade but... --shrug-- No "Rainbow Donuts" sign, just a generic Donuts sign that didn't scream 4.9. But neither does Masters. I circled the parking lot drive-by style, and saw that almost all the donuts were gone through the windows. I was finna leave, 'cause I figured: If this place is open 'til 9, it's already 8:10. These been sitting here mad long and they probably stale and not worth my damn time. But then Shelia, my inner demon, screamed, "b@tch gtfo Out the car witcho scary ass and , go get a donut!" So I did. cuz i follow directions very well. Inside, I still wasn't sure if I was in the right place until I saw a minuscule teeny tiny "Rainbow Donuts" sign so small it looked like an afterthought. The selection was SCANT AF Like the hoe stroll during march madness. I almost called it quits, but I'm nothing if not committed to poor decisions. I grabbed two glazed donuts and six donut holes (for Benson, my dog, because he deserves better than I do). The cashier was polite, the place was hella clean. i wanted some of their Thrifty Ice Cream but I'm Black, and therefore automatically lactose intolerant and ya girl ain't want "that" kind of night, ya feel me? So I left it alone, paid 9 bucks and some change--which is INSANELy Expensive AF for conditions.... On the way out, I pulled a donut out to inspect, and here's what I learned: 1. Thickness = usually means nice and chewy! 2. When my fingers punctured the donut's glassy exterior, it shattered. a very good sign indeed. I took a bite before I even got to the car. #Greed. And honestly? It was stale Af but not as tragic as expected for stale. could tell it had potential hours ago. ate the rest 'cause self-control? where? meanwhile, Benson, was devouring his even more stale donuts. Then, as I was in the car, plugging in my GPS, I saw two adorable lil' Black kids running up to the donut shop, dollars crisp, looking like they'd been waiting all day for this moment. So, in my best Auntie mode, I went back in and bought them some donuts and ice cream. cuz why not? Karma, right? They thanked me, I felt like a saint, and then I went home to evaluate my life choices. Would I go back? Sure, in the morning when they're fresh. I mean, I hope they're better. So Why the four stars? cuz stale donuts are TRASH af. But for this to be as good as it was stale? I'm willing to bet on the potential. If I go back and it still tastes like disappointment, I'll drop it to 3 stars. But for now, we rounding up.

amazing donuts so fluffy and not an average size , i also got a breakfast sandwhich with everything including jalepeno. VERY good quality ! will be going back

Such a good experience, I was looking for a quick last minute donut shop found this one and now I will definitely go back time and time again. The person who helped me he was so nice and the donuts are delicious!!

One of the best donuts I've tried in Las Vegas.

One of the best donuts I've tried in Las Vegas. They're really flavorful without adding too much sweetness. Very fresh non oily donuts, says a lot about the quality. I paid like 10 something for half a dozen not bad. Service is also great here. Super nice people.

Terrific shop out by Nellis AFB, owned by a guy who used to work for one of the larger chains. Rainbow's is quaint (in a good way) and exactly what you'd want from a small local business. I was impressed by the quality of the donuts here, especially for a one-man production. While I can understand not wanting to hang out on this side of town, this was a comfortable shop to enjoy donuts in and stay and chat with the owner. Stop in if you get the chance - way better than the donut shop chains in Vegas.

Mood- A picture They say a picture is worth a 1000 words. I thoroughly believe this. A picture will make me go out of state to try something even if it is cheap in price. Today that was the ideology with that Cheesecake Muffin. Upon entering was quickly greeted. There was a small line but was acknowledged right off the bat. That is very pleasing especially with the new norm of customer service these days. You order at the front counter, pay, find seating, and wait for your order to be either called or brought out to you. Opted for a little of this and and a few of that. But def that Cheesecake Muffin and a few Celery Juices hand made. Now yes that Muffin was fabulous but that juice stole the show. The care and attention that was put into the way it was made proved very well worth it. Interior is quaint. There are 4 tables. And music was playing in the background. Everything was very clean. Would most def recommend- pricing was reasonable for the quality and selection offered. The customer service was very courteous and hospitable Location is Nellis/Owen's- ample parking

We always make a…read morestop in Vegas to stock up on groceries and grab brunch before heading to Zion for camping. The food here is incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious - but they really need to step up their dishwashing and make sure the food is served hot. There's nothing worse than ordering coffee and seeing purple lipstick on the rim of your cup. It makes you want to leave right away. Then comes the inner debate - do you say something and risk being that customer, or just wipe it off and move on? On top of that, getting food that's supposed to be hot but arrives cold is frustrating. You sit there wishing you were at home where you could just microwave it - because the food is that good and would taste even better at the right temperature. Our experience wasn't helped by our waiter, who seemed disinterested after the lipstick incident (same guy mentioned in previous reviews that comes off rude AF/ agreed!). We didn't feel like asking for much after that. On the bright side, one of the waitresses was amazing - she looked like she was carrying the whole place. The chef clearly knows what she's doing because the food coming out of the kitchen was fantastic. That said, attention needs to be paid to cleanliness and serving hot food. There's no excuse for that. Despite these issues, I gave it five stars because the problems are fixable and don't take away from how incredible the food is. For reference, we visited on Friday, January 3rd, in the morning. There was a nearby parking structure and no wait time. The decor is a mix of farm-to-table and modern bistro - nothing overly exciting or disappointing. We were just looking for a good brunch spot, and this place is truly a hidden gem. Hopefully, they address the concerns we mentioned because it's worth coming back for! __________ To the Chef, Your food is incredible - truly Michelin-worthy. However, the staff is serving it cold and sometimes on dirty dishes. This isn't the first review mentioning these issues. Also, the tall white guy with grey hair was incredibly condescending and rude. Hospitality doesn't seem to be the right fit for him. It's disappointing to see someone like that representing the amazing work and love you pour into your dishes. On the flip side, the waitress with long brown hair was picking up the slack and holding the place together. She deserves recognition - maybe even a promotion. I hope you see this because if the team can consistently serve food hot and on clean dishware, this place could easily become the top brunch spot around. We appreciate your talent and hope this feedback is helpful! - Vee & Mike

It has a rustic, darker ambiance and not your usual bright and sunny brunch spots. The menu not too big, but offered enough varieties that we decided to try the biscuit and gravy as well as the corned bee hash. We also got house coffee and they were from mother ship coffee. Food came out quickly, but they were lukewarm and felt like it was already made and just put under a food light to be kept warm. The biscuit was good and soft, but the gravy was a little too salty. The corned beef came in a smaller portion than I expected, and the beef was diced too thin that they didn't have great texture and flavor. Coffee was good, but overall food was not as good as we'd expect. Service was average, the waitress was nice but didn't offer much service besides bringing out initial water and coffee over. No one really checked in on us after the food was served. I'd most likely not be back as there are many other brunch places in the downtown area to explore.

We were enjoying the music and it was a vibe until it came to pay the bill. At 9:30 PM, a full 30 minutes before the posted closing time of 10:00 PM, the staff began rushing us out while my wife was still eating. When it came time to pay our bill, our bank cards were temporarily unavailable due to a system outage. We had the money. This was not a financial issue. It was a technical one we were actively working to resolve. Instead of being given a moment, security surrounded our table and treated us as though we were attempting to leave without paying. We were not. We never attempted to leave. I want to note that a couple of the security members were actually kind and professional throughout. A manager then approached with immediate hostility white male, tattoos, wearing a white crop shirt, and beige pants) no introduction, and no interest in hearing our explanation. I want to Emphasize That everyone working there refused to give me his name (white male) I even attempted to ask him and he walked away. He made demeaning remarks about our finances and specifically told us that if we didn't pay, he would call the police and trespass us, but if we paid, he would not. We paid. My brother sent $30 via Zelle directly to a security staff member to settle the bill. It was paid in full. He called the police anyway. And trespassed us anyway. I had offered to leave my ID as collateral, leave card information on file, or return the next morning. Every offer was refused before we even got to that point. The responding officers acknowledged his behavior was inappropriate. His own staff was visibly uncomfortable. Unless you are prepared to be treated as a suspect over something completely outside your control, I would think twice before dining here.

The waitstaff were dressed very casual, jeans and t-shirt casual. Although the food is upscale, everything else about this place seems very casual diner like. We could even see most of the work going on in the small kitchen. Mostly shareable plates... Our table chose the deviled eggs with caviar - these were a hit! Dynamite shrimp, most at the table liked these, they were spicy and the flavor was decent, but I just felt like the sauce made the breading a bit soggy and it wasn't a favorite of mine. Pork Belly - This had a buffalo sauce on it, which I wasn't too excited about at first, but it worked better than I expected. Wish it was just a little crispier but it was tender and I enjoyed it. Oxtail risotto - this one had mixed reviews from the table, I really enjoyed it. The flavor was good. There's only a small amount of meat and it's shredded into the risotto. Overall the consistency was a little weird, very thick and almost sticky/dry, plus the dark color. They had a steak on the menu and the flavor was great, one of the pricier menu items but it was a good share. My wife ordered a burger without the bun. She said the patty was well over-cooked and so it was pretty dry. They don't offer gluten-free buns or bread - bummer. The service was generally prompt, but seemed uncoordinated at times. For example, it seemed our waitress was also handling a very large party outside on the patio, and randomly the hostess would bring us a drink refill (hostess stand was right beside our table). That's good in a way, they are all a team, but she also picked up my plate and silverware after only the first appetizer - mind you they bring everything out as it's ready, so don't expect the whole table to eat together, you are expected to share! When I asked if she could replace my silverware, she grabbed a fork and knife and handed to me, but they weren't rolled in a napkin or anything, just barehanded me some silverware... anyway, I thought that was odd. Overall, the food had some bright spots and perhaps worth a lunch if you are downtown. I probably wouldn't seek it out again, but I'm not mad about the meal we had either.

So let me help you with your response...I'm NOT broke, I DON'T need anyone to sponsor or fund my activities when I'm on vacation...DO BETTER!!! However the lemon pepper wings and fries (second request first were cold) tasted delicious. Therapy has potential if the customer service from Chris was better and food arrived in a timely manner. Also witnessed multiple tables abandon their orders due to excessive wait time however ALL the staff is amazing!! Update: actually met Chris after our food came and he is a complete jerk in person too. Drugs are bad people! Save your money and eat elsewhere I will never support this establishment again.
