Great coffee and treats! My favorite treat is a blueberry muffin. Their coffee drinks, both hot and cold, are fresh and delicious. I love the iced turmeric latte, as well as the "regular"/unflavored hot latte. If you're avoiding caffeine, they have a selection of smoothies (peach and honey really hits the spot). All of these are prepared and served by very kind and capable baristas who have great senses of humor. I love that this place is truly dog friendly; it's a great place to bring my dog so I can have a coffee treat and he gets lots of treats from the staff and patrons. The overall atmosphere is very cool, casual and welcoming. Lots of seats and tables for you and your friends to sit and relax. It's a great place to have in the neighborhood.

Band playing that night. The Rented Mules.

Cool little neighborhood bar that's apparently also a music school and a coffee bar. On the night we were there they had live music. Nice little place that was not overpriced or overly crowded. If you're hungry, they have pizzas at a reasonable price. Many beers on tap. Atmosphere is great. Tin ceilings. Old school bar. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Nice place. Nice people.

It's true, this bar is pretty friendly. They recently bought the space next door and opened the bar up a little for live music. The original Friendly Tap is a giant bar, curving around the entire room with a little bit of extra space around it, a couple video games in back and a decent jukebox. The new room has a stage area and a few tables. There is some lovely wood paneling and vintage neon beer guitar signs. I especially appreciate the picture with the owner and Svengoolie on the wall, since it is Berwyn after all. It's right across the street from Oak Park, so anyone suffering from the dry village blues should cross the street and check it out. It's not as scary as you might think. In fact, it was pretty nice.

Best part about Friendly Coffee is the big front window that gets opened up wide on warm days!

A true old school dive bar that's owned by a local musician. So the tunes are always great. And it's truly friendly.

Great Cup of Coffee, wholesome oatmeal and a cozy atmosphere inside with soft melodic music.

    Is this an 18+ bar?

There is a cafe side and a bar side. When I went there with my 20 year-old daughter the bartender told us she had to stay in the cafe side. 21+ can take their drinks to the cafe but I believe under 21 have to stay in the cafe. That was fine for… Read more

The venue is huge with both indoor and outdoor spaces so it's a year-round affair. The patio is the perfect place to spend a warm summer afternoon, and the side bar or nightclub areas are spacious, cool areas to take in a set indoors. Staff are always attentive and hustling about to ensure everyone is having a great time. The food onsite is also super good - the pulled pork, sweet potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts were favorites on the last visit.

I like how they have these fun steps for children to dance or adults to sit and chat. Its very low key and casual! The food was really pricy. $15 for a very basic Cesar salad. The pork meat was very good!!! The cornbread was dry and hard- prob the worst I've ever had lol. The service is mostly younger folks and no specific assigned seatings for them to work. We had one girl, and she took our drink order, and then 15 minutes late, a younger lad took our food. They were all nice, but the way they just serve anyone can get chaotic. The older male host literally kicked us out. As soon as we paid, a my husband went to use the restroom, and he came over and said, "are you almost done? We need that table soon as we have to start rotating for reservations". We weren't even there for long! There were others who were seated before we arrived. I thought it was rude to kick us out. Overall, I would come again, but there are things they should work on. It's good if you're meeting groups of people here.

We had children with us and asked for their menu items to come as fast as they could. However, the server was extremely short with us and didn't even bring drinks quickly. While the restaurant was not very busy, it too a very long time to get our food - especially one in our group who didn't get food until almost everyone else was done. The food itself was ok, but I would say that nothing was exceptional - somewhat bland entrees and lacking originality. Could be what we ordered...as I know many people find the food here to be quite good. The prices are reasonable for the area but I was disappointed with the general unfriendly service and time to receive food. I've been here previously and we had a somewhat lackluster meal that time also. The previous time, they were pleasant enough but food was only ok - entrees were not very hot when we received them. All in all, there are friendlier spots in the area.
