Nice neighborhood brewery in Oak Park. A great place to come after work. I was gifted with a gift card. I don't drink beer. So, I invited a good friend who is a beer lover. He said the beer was ok. The gentleman behind the bar was nice and attentive. They have game boards/cards etc stored on a shelf in the back. Just a nice local brew to come and enjoy beer and good vibes.

Ok, craft brewery #91 for me! Kinslagher is in a cool old building, but parking kinda sucks. Oh well, as long as the brewery holds up the parking is minor... Kinslahger has a really cool little tasting room. Very classy but comfortable also. It's relatively small but a nice mix of bar space to tables. They had a good selection of games to entertain yourself if beer isn't sufficient. Speaking of that, on to the beer... Altbier was good, malty with a little spicy-bitter kick to it. The India Pale Lager had a nice clean hop flavor and aroma. Just a good beer for me. It was described as having "orange/grapefruit marmalade aromatics" which I really didn't get but I still enjoyed the beer. Ah, the Chicago Common is very malty and spicy. This was a very good beer. SWPFTD would enjoy this one. Plenty of malt to balance the spicier hop flavors. This is going home with me! Nitro Baltic is a Baltic porter with the expected chocolate/roasty flavors. I didn't try this one on co2 but it was really, really nice on Nitro. Smooth flavors and texture and just plain excellent. Russhane was working the bar and he was cool. He seemed to know people as they came in but was plenty friendly with newcomers as well. I love the way these folks do business... I decided to have a couple of other quick tasters, just tiny little bits since there were a few I hadn't tried. Sauvin Blanc is a good brut lager. This style is not my favorite but this one was good. Prohibition Pilsner was, well, boring. Not in a bad way at all. It had a very clean flavor and showed skill on the part of the brewer. No off flavors, etc just an easy drinking beer. I had to try the Baltic Porter on co2 to compare it with the nitro. Of course the flavors were the same but I love the smoothness that the nitro gives across not only the texture but the flavor as well. I enjoyed Kinslagher brewing and would definitely come back in. I definitely recommend checking them out! If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand.

    Cheers!

We had never heard of this brewery until we met the owner at a beer fest in the city. Nice brewery, helpful and friendly staff and most importantly a strong beer list! It definitely has a classier atmosphere-not sure how else to say it. One respectable thing about this business is they don't accept tips employing with fair wages-so you do pay more for your beer. Tips left are donated to a suicide organization. Two beers was around $19-so you are definitely going to pay more than you would at most breweries as a heads up.

Awesome brewery! Having the Baltic Porter(left) & the Chicago Common(right).

It's a good neighborhood brewery. The selection is limited but nonetheless great crafts. If you come here, you're here to drink not eat. They don't provide food selection, only small appetizers like minimal choices. Great service, pricy pints which include tips, no food to order but great tasting beers.

Literally step back in time at this super lounge speakeasy vibe brewery. Not one tv, games tables, and chill music make you sink into your beer and your company. I went with my husband last night and got the nitro baltic porter. The creamy sweet dark chocolate notes had my taste buds partying. Not to mention each beer had 9.5% ABV so I was feeling extra happy after my second LOL. They also have food trucks that park right outside on the weekends- which make the perfect compliment. If you're looking to escape the loud, crowded -entire wall of tv's bar- you'd love this place

Loved this place! Beer was really good- My husband and I both got a flight so we could try them all. I ended up liking the ones I never would have thought or ordered on my own! And I was super impressed they had a changing table in the women's bathroom- good to know for any new moms who need to get out for a good beer!

The much needed, much anticipated first craft brewery in Oak Park. I attended their public grand opening yesterday and the word definitely was out. The bar was packed elbow to elbow but the staff made sure to get beers poured as past as possible from the wrap around bar up front. This is not just another regular craft brewery in Chicago for a few reasons. Primarily you won't find the typical Pale/IPA/Stout combination that most fledgling breweries seem to start with. With a focus on lagering the first three beers they have for sale on draft and to-go in 32oz Crowler cans are a steam beer called Chicago Common, a traditional German Hefeweizen Dunkel (dark), and the first in a series of experimental beers. On deck are a Baltic Porter and an Altbier which will soon join the menu alongside a few sodas and food items. Secondly the owners and brewers not only live in and around Oak Park but are founding members of the Oak Park Home Brewers club. So this is not just another business trying to capitalize on a growing trend but instead is the passion and brainchild of a group of very knowledgeable guys who love to brew beer. And the attention to detail shows with a top-notch facility from the brewery equipment to the bathrooms. While laws dictate that a brewery cannot be open very late their location on the corner of Roosevelt and Oak Park means this is a great stop for a drink after work or to start out an evening with various bars, music venues, and restaurants nearby.

Delicious beer and bring your own food.

My wife and I went to celebrate KBC's 1-year anniversary. The place was packed with all sorts of people enjoying KBC beers and talking to each other. (Note there are no TVs plastered around anywhere. Food is not served but you can bring your favorite edible- a local pizza or wings etc. The place only takes credit cards and tips not taken--the wait staff is paid a above average wage.) What a cool place with the speak-easy feel and steel look and portraits hung all over the place. I can't wait to come back and brings friends along, especially those with great stories to tell and share with. The beer choices range from a choice of about 5-7 beers. The average and sophisticado beer drinker will be served and pleased. (See other reviews written by the latter who know how to share what they have experienced.)

Nice little brewery in Oak Park. Great for a Sunday drink or two after brunch. Recommend the Chicago Common and Dunkel beers!

I actually loved their bathrooms haha! Very clean and nicely designed.

The original bartender disappeared without taking my food order . I had to get the attention of the following bartender to order a goddess salad w no onion. The salad came with onions, (no big deal I'll pick them off). Finished said salad and beer (not once was i acknowledged during that time). I sat there with an empty beer glass & a plate with onions for about 10-15 mins. At this point no one else is at the bar.. (early eve 730).. the bartender scraped off plates into the garbage directly in front of me several times yet failed to look up every single time . She finally returns , grabs the plate , scrapes off the onions and asked if i'd like anything else . (she took the order, she should have noticed and acknowledges the onion error ). I opted for a short pour but i would have ordered a burger and at least two more beers had there been any presence of customer service. (This doesn't fall just on the bartender, there were several opportunities for others to notice a patron at the bar with an empty beer glass and empty plate for too long a time). However, I was very disappointed by our service. I had arrived minutes later and we never received a second menu. After waiting for our waiter for about 10-15 minutes we asked for a second menu and were able to order drinks. Both drinks we ordered ended up not being available, so we ordered others. I gave two other options, and a different waiter brought us our drinks. I am not sure which I received, and was unimpressed by the pour in the glass. When a third waiter came to take our order after another 20 minutes, the food came quickly and was very tasty. However, no napkins were given to us. So we had to go up to the bar to ask since again, no wait staff came to our table. We had to ask for our check after sitting for quite a while after finishing eating. After not doing anything with the check for another 5-10 minutes, we were able to pay. In the meantime though, a busser came and took our plates and water that we were still drinking. Overall, our food was quite good, the french fries were really thin and well salted. But I'm not sure I would come back due to the poor service. Maybe they were low on staff.

ALES IN COMPARISON…read more The bar formerly known as Brixie's is still a solid place to enjoy a beer. I can't recall exactly how many times I'd given the previous tenant my business over the years, though it has to have been in the dozens. I loved their vibe which could be described as relaxed at best (and dingy at worst), and though the kitchen was no great shakes I appreciated specials on their burgers and pints. Fast forward to 2022, and this place is now exclusively a brewery under the name Imperial Oak. They've also got a location on Archer Ave that I've been to several times. Funny enough, both have 2+ pinball tables and tiny parking lots, however this location on Ogden Ave is much more accessible than the Imperial Oak in Willow Springs. Speaking of pins, their two machines (Simpsons Pinball Party & a retooled Medieval Madness) are $1/game and play beautifully. They've got shuffleboard and some events throughout the month like weekly bingo & trivia. They don't have a kitchen, but sometimes a foodtruck comes in and you can always B.Y.O.F. Bartenders are easygoing; if you aren't feeling an IPA or barrel stout they also have hard seltzers as well as a full bar. The crowd is predominantly locals and after-work peeps. If you can't find a space in their lot, try the angled spots at the Sherwin-Williams next door (just be discreet). * TL;DR * A couple brews, a couple score-based replays on pinball, life is A-OK. Back when this place was Brixie's, it was much quieter and business seemed slow, but I liked it. These days, it's usually bustling with activity whenever I stop by, and that's great news for Imperial Oak. Beer is reasonably priced (Buzz Lite is a delightful honeyweiss for $6/pint) and the taps are varied. I'm switching jobs in the next few weeks, so the odds of me coming through here again are slim but I'll always keep them in mind should I find myself in the Brookfield area. I'd recommend Imperial Oak, for sure.
