I ordered online and picked up in person. The service was excellent, the lady at the restaurant was so sweet, friendly and welcoming. The food was AMAZING!! I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone with food allergies or dietary restrictions because they take it seriously. Additionally they bring the heat, literally, I ordered my dish at a heat level 4 and it was no joke! The small dining area can fill up fast but don't worry, you can order take out ahead of time or order in house and take it to go. The food came out quickly after ordering but the ingredients in the dishes were fresh and each meal is feels thoughtfully prepared. They offer a variety of beverages including Bubble Tea, flavored hot or iced teas, mocktails, and soft drinks. From Rice Bowls, Sauteed Noodles, Fried Rice, Broth Bowls, Curries, Salads, Appetizers, and Wok Dishes, Friendly Thai has a variety of customizable meals that can accommodate everyone. All menu items are authentic Thai recipes from her homeland, and oh soooo delicious! Easily the best Thai food I've had in the states. Our first time back to Friendly Thai after the new owners took over. We ordered spring rolls, chicken pad Thai, and tofu pad see ew. The restaurant has a new website with menu and prices and a link for online ordering but I couldn't figure out how to order online so we called in our order. Nbd. My husband said the interior is more inviting, it's brighter than before, and they are open for dinner service. The spring rolls were good, larger than previously, 4 to an order, and filled with noodles and veggies. My pad see ew was great, but my husband was disappointed with the pad Thai as it was pretty dry and not very spicy for level 5*. We think this was a fluke as we've never had this issue before and will be back to try it again. read more

Friendly Thai was delicious! I put in an order for 12 people over the phone and spoke to a very nice gentleman who repeated the order back to me and said they labeled the food so that we knew what was what without opening it. We picked up the order and had enough napkins and utensils packed with the food ready to go. The portions are family style and was extremely tasty! I'm the only one who didn't get mild, my medium spice on my Friendly Thai beef fried rice was perfect! My beef salad was spicier but tasty and spicy. Again, I had enough to save for another meal. The mango sticky rice was amazing. Everyone was happy w/ their food - chicken and shrimp pad Thai, mango curry, green curry. I have no blood or casual acquaintance with the place and had a delicious Red Curry (chicken) and spring roll meal you should know about. The food was fresh; the spice was "normal" and just right. The spring roll was crispy and one of the best from anywhere I've been. The wait staff was polite and attentive. The prices were very fair. My wife and I have been looking for a Thai food restaurant and came across Friendly Thai. When you walk in, you notice how charming and clean it is. My wife and I sat facing the street in one of the window out-coves. The table was quaint and had great lighting since it was close to the window. Upon sitting at the table, we were greeted by Lalita (the owner), who immediately brought us water and handed us menus. My wife ordered the Chicken Satay (appetizer), the grilled chicken bamboo skewers, marinated chicken in coconut milk, curry powder, and Southeast Asian herbs. She served it with peanut flavor dipping sauce (very delicious). My wife ordered the Egg Noodle with Pork Wonton Soup, a traditional wonton soup featuring thin egg noodles in seasoned chicken broth with pork wontons. I ordered the Spicy Basil Noodle, a fragrant, stir-fried dish cooked over high heat with garlic, Thai chili, rice wide noodles, bell peppers, string beans, and mushrooms. Overall, these two dishes were delicious. Some of the best flavors we have tasted outside of Thailand. My wife and I highly recommend the Friendly Thai restaurant when visiting New London County. Okay I'm just going to tell it like it is ...cause that's what I do! The food here is delicious- perfect- spot on. The decor on the table tops is cool- elephants in the table runners for example but the walls and floors not much. It's small and not very memorable on its looks BUT the food is memorable! We had the pork potstickers and they are handmade tasty little bites with a different shape than the run of the mill potstickers. Light and yummy with a good sauce to put over them. I had a chefs special believe it was called Perfect Strangers. It was chicken shrimp and scallops with mixed vegetables in a chili sauce. I can't stop thinking about it. The level of spice was perfect - seafood was not over cooked and it came with a side of jasmine rice. Try it- please do! My daughter had a heaping serving of pad Thai that she enjoyed very much also. We parked on the street. It's popular for take out but no one else was eating in at 9pm on a rainy Saturday night. The serve was pleasant- the jasmine tea hit the spot and was dirt cheap at $1.75 for a pot that served two. Forget the decor. Go for the flavors. read more

Ordered from Friendly Thai 2 times during my stay in Groton, Connecticut. Friendly Thai is located in downtown Groton on Poquonnock Road and has parking in the lot behind the building. Menu items range from $10-$20 depending on the protein that you choose. I've tried the spicy eggplant with chicken, pad thai with shrimp, and the beef with peanut sauce. All dishes are served with white rice. Brown rice and sticky rice could be substituted for a price. Though the eggplant with chicken and the pad thai with shrimp were a little greasy, the flavor was authentic and yummy. My favorite has to be the beef with peanut sauce. This dish has a medley of vegetables (broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and cabbage) stewed in a thick savory peanut sauce. The sauce is great to mix with rice. All dishes were portioned generously; I could split an order to at least 3 meals. Every time that I visited Friendly Thai, the restaurant was pretty empty so dinner at the restaurant would not be a long wait. I would highly recommend Friendly Thai to visitors looking for delicious and authentic Thai food. read more

Stopped by here on a weekday afternoon to meet a friend for lunch. It's a cute spot with Street parking and a small lot in the back. The prices are very fair, they offer lunch and dinner options for most things on their menu. I went with the pad woon sen. It's oddly listed as an 'entree' instead of under 'noodle' dishes. The pad woon sen also came with rice, which was weird. The noodles were too moist and a bit on the saltier side. Service was friendly and attentive. The people here are super nice. But those aren't the main reasons why I like Friendly Thai. I like Freindly Thai because of its food! I've never had a bad Thai meal here. Everything I've eaten has always been terrific. The portions are just right. The spiciness is just right. Heck even their wonton soup which is traditionally associated in Chinese restaurants is the best wonton soup I've ever had in my life, and it's made inside a Thai restaurant! Come to think of it all their soups are top notch including their Tom Ka soup and Tom Yum soup. Lately my favorite dish is their Pad Prik Khing (stir fried peppers and green beans). It's pretty hot and almost spanks my ass but it's not so darn hot that it's not enjoyable. My taste buds like a little pain sometimes. It's basically any choice of meat with peppers, onions, chili paste, oil, green beans, and rice. Plus, as a bonus, their prices are fairly reasonable. The squid in the curry was calamari style; it had a good amount of squid and mango. The curry came with a side of rice. Overall it was an interesting dish, with a lot of coconut milk so it had a very liquidy consistency.
