We had a fun day around the area and decided to get Spice Club for dinner, which was near the beach house. I remember having a good experience here a year ago when we dined in. This time we decided to get take out and eat at the house. We ordered online which was easy to navigate. We got pad Thai, Hong Kong noodles, two rolls and potstickers. They had a discount if you spent $60 you'll get 10% off. I went to pick up the food and it was ready when it say it would be. Inside was nicely decorated like the last time I been here. There was also plenty of seating. The host handed me the food and I was glad they separated the sushi from the hot food. We got home to eat dinner and I tried the pad Thai. I got level three and it was not spicy enough for me. Maybe next time I will get a 5. As far as the taste... there was no flavor and the noodles seem to a bit under cooked. The menu has a variety of sushi rolls, appetizers, stir fry, and other entrees. Everything sounds delicious. I was craving some sushi and ordered the spice club roll. We have enjoyed this restaurant for a long time! Tonight I ordered crispy garlic with duck! Not only was it dry , very little to no sauce the bill gave us a $12 up charge for duck and it was not listed anywhere! Nor did the bar tender mention it. I got a Philadelphia roll, nam tok, and Thai tea. Sushi was good, smaller rice portion with smoked salmon. The nam tok salad was very savory, I ordered a spice lvl2 and it felt more of a spice 1. Personal preference I would've like it to been more sour, but it was still very good. Beef was seasoned very well! The tea was also good, good amount of sweetness. Service was good for the most part till the end, where it took 20+ mins to pay for the bill. I'm going to exclude the slower service for the bill due to it being busy. We used to come to this restaurant a lot. When we eat in food is always wonderful but the last few times we've ordered takeout. It has been not up to par at all. I ordered the pho and paid for extra beef never got. Said no spice or jalapeños it has spice added, and jalapeño sitting right on top of the noodles. For my husband's sashimi, he asked for no white meat. The best portion and prices around!!!! This is my family's "go to" thai place in this part of the state. The jasmine tea is amazing, the service is prompt, I LOVE the booths, they have a cut out of "the rock" coming into the restaurant, and it's a super calm environment. Whenever I'm craving Thai, The Spice Club is where I find myself. Their coconut soup is amazing and I always get their green curry. The portions are really good but I do wish I got a little more white rice. The vibe in the restaurant is super cute. There's flowers everywhere so it's picture worthy. The service is quick. The menu is overall reasonably priced and portions are sizable so you can feel okay getting an app and entree and then even take some home. I keep wanting to try more because everything I've had is incredible, but I am addicted to the crispy duck salad and curry (my favorite is the red, but I've tried green and yellow, too). On the negative side, it was one of the worst -watery with a little bit of chicken and a ton of peppers and that was it. But what was worse were the fresh rolls. Niantic plate B (sashimi with a tuna roll) lacked wasabi, ginger and soy sauce. Salad was fine. Miso soup was ok - hard to deliver as takeout. Sashimi was pedestrian-fatty tuna, tuna and salmon. Fantastic food and service made lunch an absolute treat! Carrie, our delightful waitress, guided us through the diverse menu. We were happy she suggested the Spice Club Sampler which has two each of chicken satay, spring rolls, summer rolls, pork pot stickers and vegetable rolls with three fantastic house-made dipping sauces. The balance of sweet, savory, salty, spicy, and crunchy was a perfect intro. We were dazzled by the beauty and flavor of the Spice Club roll, Fresh Cucumber roll, and the Passion Roll and enjoyed the Spicy Duck Salad with zingy chili lime dressing. Parking was easy and the nearby view of Niantic Bay beckoned. Book Barn and other epic shopping is right around the corner. I really like The Spice Club. The sampler appetizer is great! It's a nice variety with tender chicken breast, spring and summer rolls and dumplings. It's served with a variety of really good dipping sauces. We also had the drunken noodles. I loved the flavor and we ate the whole platter. However, , as some customers mentioned the noodles were dry and sticking together. My guess is they are pre cooking the noodles causing this. Liked the flavor and hope they address this. This is causing the drunken noodles not to be great!! I have to take away a star due to this. I look forward to go back. By the way, our server was fantastic. read more
