I hate to write this negative review. I love this place solely bc of the employees, not the food. I go in multiple times a week and they're always great! Except today. Someone I've never seen before was bartending (usually no big deal) Sat down, ordered an easy drink and was eventually made. I told her that I was ready to order food whenever she was ready. She kind of took my order, with a very rude comment to follow and I was very shocked at the unnecessary attitude. After the attitude I told her to forget putting my food order in and I'll go somewhere else. She made a comment that it was fine and to be honest, I was so hungry, I sucked it up and stayed. I always have such a wonderful time with the staff at this location and have no idea why she was so rude. There was also a guy sitting next to me, that arrived at the same time I did and ordered a drink the same time I did. We engaged in conversation and he made it clear that he wasn't going to order lunch there and will be going somewhere else based off the rudeness from the bartender not just to me but to him as well. I'll still continue to go there but if I see her working, I'll turn around and go somewhere else. read more

Took the family last Friday night, we all got appetizers and we all got separate entrees. Saturday morning I started feeling bad then that night I knew something wasn't right. I got food poisoning from the hot wings no one else got sick we ordered a 10 piece to go for my dad luckily he didn't eat it before I told them I wasn't feeling good: anyways I haven't left the house since Saturday and it's Wednesday. the bartender she's speaking of is never rude gives the best service out of any employee at friends locations and goes out of her way to make sure that everything is right!. Elizabeth ordered some thing that is currently not on the menu so she got mad about it and took it out on the bartender, and the other customer sitting beside her at the bar "she" said was unhappy ordered a drink that required some ingredients that friends doesn't carry which makes it impossible to make the correct drink. I personally love this restaurant. We tried the bison burgers tonight and my husband has sworn off beef burgers! The variety is good and they have a great vegetarian choice of food as well. It's really an all around restaurant to suit any of your cravings. The desserts are just as good as the rest of the food, my personal favorite being the fried oreos. The staff is friendly, it has a nice aura around the building, and they deliver if you're close enough. There really is no losing when it comes to this restaurant. read more

The atmosphere is nice but confusing. Not sure if it's a sports bar or family restaurant. Lots of TVs. It's like going to a TGIFridays. It's a great place to meet after work for a quick bite and drinks, but not a good place if you're on a date, having a family meal, or just want a place to have a good meal and talk. The place is noisy and the TVs add to the sound pollution. The food seemed like regular "Grill" style food. I had fish and chips. For $12.99, I just got one frozen, breaded cod and a few fries. I urge you to stay away from that dish. The fish was a bit overdone. I'm used to getting a few pieces of cod in a basket with fries for that price. Also, I expect the fish to be golden in color, not a brown. My friends opted for the wings. I tried one and think that Hooters does a better job with the wings - they turn out crispier and have more sauce. I noticed the other table ordered burgers and was surprised with the quality...too bad I didn't get to taste one. If they taste as good as they look, then I would order burgers. Again, they skimp on the fries with the burgers as well. Try this place at your discretion. The servers were courteous and professional and service was prompt, but that is only one portion of the scoring. The food was not that great and the atmosphere is tricky - lots of TVs on different channels and loud talking. Incredibly disappointed. We have eaten at this location before and the food is mediocre. Tonight we went and it was slow. They had several servers working and we were seated (4) in an area where noone else was (large group had left). We sat for over 25 minutes without anyone even acknowledging us. 2 different servers saw us but didn't come by or tell our server we were there. This location does not get enough business to allow 4 paying adults to walk out the door. Makes me sad because we like to keep our money local. It was NOT busy and we did not have to wait to be seated. I don't know how they stay in business. This place could be so amazing with effort. I went back in when we started to leave because someone was at the front desk and said I was really shocked and disappointed. (This was like 30 minutes ago). The young lady said she was sorry and that was her area but she didn't see us. Friendly atmosphere . I ordered a chicken- bacon flatbread; I asked the waitress if it could be turned into a wrap (which is easier) and she said that the cooks wouldn't do that because it was "so busy". When I got my food, it wasn't at all what I expected . Just looked like they threw a handful of spinach , bacon bits and chicken sausage on a small piece of pita bread. We were in town visiting family, this was Halloween night and downtown was having a festival for the kids. It wasn't crowded at all with the amount of people around. Which was nice. I ordered the Hawaiian Chicken Wrap. I really enjoyed it. I'm pregnant and VERY picky right now of what I eat, and this was a very light on the stomach and not an overwhelming flavor. You have a choice of fries or tots, I went with fries and put malt vinger on top and man oh man, that was delicious. Rest of the family seemed to be happy with their meals as well! Waitress -Bridgette ? - was friendly and helpful. Loaded French dip was pretty good- we both liked it. I had fried breaded jalapenos added to mine for a kick. Our Appetizer was called "Brisket Tot-Chos" - consisted of : tater tots, tomato pieces, sour cream, lettuce pieces, queso cheese, "I saw no cheddar as pictured", little bit of brisket pieces, and what appeared and tasted like canned pork and beans. Someone was stoned or drunk when they put this slop together. I could see black beans working- served w/tortilla chips on the side. Spice up the sauce/rub and lose the excess sweetness of the bbq and get the pork n beans out of there entirely. That is the only thing that could save this vomitous rendition of gross stuff I remember seeing on a plate in the sink and in the john the morning after a horrible drunk. I could not believe it was $10 - I honestly wanted to walk around back and check their dumpster and grease tank to see if that is where it came from. Pork and beans-Really? That particular Appetizer is top left of the menu - first thing you see when you spot the word Appetizer. NOT appetizing at all. A TOTAL FAIL. The menu is very interesting - I will be back to try a few other items that sound very good. Like I said - service was good - sandwich was good- beer was good. Good service! Our server accommodated the couple food requests we had (grilled instead of fried, adding/subtracting salad ingredients). Food was also good, but pretty small portions considering the price. 13 bucks for maybe 5 slices of chicken breast and a small side (got the blackened chicken and the chicken tenders). The Napa valley chicken salad was big and their homemade balsamic was tasty. Still, two of us left feeling hungry after a shared appetizer (6 pieces of shrimp for 10 bucks) and an entree each. So, we do love Friends a lot. It's gotten much better. It's honestly one of my favorite places to go now. We love the take-home cups that you can bring back for 10% off. I'm writing this review a couple years late. I used to work in Winder and my co workers and I ordered take out from this place. We all sat down to eat and there is a worm in my steamed vegetables. I call the restaurant and they apologize to me. It took a couple of weeks for the owner to come back and address this issue and the only thing I received was a $14 gift certificate, which I gave to my co worker. The excuse they had for the worm in my vegetables was that they buy their produce fresh. Anyways, it's been two years and haven't been back. I'm not even sure if this place is still open. read more

Was hesitant to try Friends as I don't like taking "risks" and there are other really good restaurants nearby in Winder and Athens. A group of us decided to give them a shot and am I ever glad we did. It was a Saturday and pretty busy due to the Masters Tournament but you wouldn't know it by the service. Our waitress Tiffani P was great and didn't seem to mind all the questions about the menu (nice menu with a plethora of options). The food came and we were not disappointed to say the least.
