Needed to get my wheels fixed immediately. They were able to get me squared away as a walk in and were very helpful!

This place just came up as recommended wen I was searching for a repair facility. Fortunately for me, unfortunately for my kid, I knew all about these wanna-be mechanics from a few years back. Long story short - their head mechanic didn't know how to check oil properly on her Nissan crossover? (name escapes me) Three times in the shop and they tell her the oil is over full. I go in, act dumb and ask if they could show me how to check the oil since I got blamed for it anyway "your dad is over filling it" Stooge pulls dip stick and proclaims "see overfill again by twice" Me - "flip that dip stick over" Dude had no words because the other side had NOTHING on it because they drained 5 quarts the day before because "it was overfilled" I promptly asked the gentleman "if you toss a stick in a bucket of oil, is it possible to only get oil on one side of said stick?" Note: these cars/engines have an oil drain back hole directly above the dip stick which covers it with oil several inches up the stick, on one side. Even a moron knows to wipe the stick and reinstall to check and look at both sides. A not-so-certified village idiot should know these cars are best checked after they have sat awhile, regardless this poor village idiot was happy to run out 5 minutes after we arrived and check it without ever having a towel in mind. Way to go imbecile. Needless to say, it never left the place and the motor was hammering because they told her to run it and I want putting oil in it again for them to blame me for overfilling. A few days later we stopped in and find in an attempt to get the warranty co to pay for a motor, they blew it up. The one lucky actually told us what they were doing. Obviously totally oblivious to the fact he was saying they were trying to commit insurance fraud. Good luck if you go here or if, like my kid, AutoMax sends you here because their shop is backed up. These geniuses will fix your vehicle right up like Dewey, Cheatum & Howe, attorneys at law would fix you up on legal issues. Well, that statement isn't fair. The 3 stooges deserve more credit than that when it comes to being lawyers. read more

I took my vehicle for squealing noise. John (the owner) told me it was the belt tensioner and the belt was good so they replaced it. I had to take it back because it was still making the noise and he told me it was the belt so he replaced it. I took it back and he told me it was one of the connectors to the battery which was draining power so he replaced it. It is still squealing. If he didn't know how to fix it he should have said so. Friendship Auto is amazing!! my kia rio broke down in the middle of a ramp on 83. got it towed to friendship auto service on a sunday and i live in state college so i had to go home and leave my car there in Harrisburg. So i was communicating with friendship auto through the phone the whole time which sometimes can be frustrating and sketchy but friendship auto was absolutely amazing. they were so polite and helpful. i love how they send you pictures of your car to show you exactly what is wrong with it. i had my catalytic converter break, both of them & it was around $2100? im just a 22 year old so i have no idea if thats a good price or what but i believe my dad said it was a fair price. & i had my car back by the end of that week! ill use friendship auto for my car for the rest of its life! read more

They were open to working with an aftermarket warranty after validating that they had not had a prior bad experience with the company and some research on BBB. They were up front about there being a charge because of the difference in labor rate between what they normally charge and what the warranty company would pay. They were VERY good about communication. Pictures, updates, a clear understanding of the costs, and pre-approval before work was started. When the work was finished, there was still a problem and they were not dismissive. They immediately arranged for me to bring the car back in and identified and fixed the issue quickly (unfortunately this issue was not covered under the warranty). I needed my car fixed to a battery issue, I called around and Friendship Auto was able to get me in the same day, and had my car fixed in a couple of hours. The are transparent about pricing and even text you a link that opens up to your cars information, with pictures of your car and what needs attention as well as what is doing well and does not need attention. As a young woman it can be easy to be taken advantage of when taking your car to a repair shop but that wasn't the case here! A couple of months ago the check engine light on my 2011 Nissan Murano came on while driving up from York to Harrisburg. It started running hot/over heating. I called Friendship and explained what happened and after my car cooled down was able to drive it in to get it checked out. After the diagnostic test was done DJ at Friendship called and told me I had a crack in my engine and it would cost over $4k to repair/replace. I told him I was not expecting this to be the issue nor the expense (my warranty had run out). I told him would have my car towed to my home in York until I figured out my next steps or a resolution. DJ then conveniently offered up a finance option, one that would allow for a payment plan for the repairs through a finance company, upon approval of course (side eye). His 'by the way did I tell you about a payment plan option' spill sounded rehearsed...as if he has said it countless times. I Initially thought this could be a viable option and agreed...He text me the link and of course I was approved within minutes. Here's where the scam job attempt increases...the finance company terms were for a 12 month payoff period, payments (over $200) would be automatically debited from my back account bi-weekly...with an interest rate of 164%??!!!. I quickly declined and advised I would schedule a tow for my car. Once I got my car towed back I took it to a service shop in York . Turns out there was nothing wrong with my engine...I needed a new radiator which cost me less than $600. Not only did Friendship (DJ) charge me almost $200 for a diagnostic test they obviously DID NOT do, they would have had me get a very costly repair that I did not need, while not fixing the real problem. I'm highly disappointed given that I have taken my car to Friendship for repairs and maintenance at least two other times in the past, because they are listed as a certified Nissan Repair PAL service shop. My fiancé has been taking his car here for years and always highly recommended Horstick. I have been to him three times in the past year and was treated fairly and honest each time (once for inspection, once for tires he happened to have in stock, and for inspection with many repairs). When I called him on a Monday afternoon about an inspection and a noise my car was making, he fit me in the very NEXT DAY! I put 26,000 miles on my car this year so I expected it would need a lot of work....he actually found the problem was something (pretzel pipe) in the exhaust, which is a very expensive part, and I also needed rear brakes, Inspection/emission. He shopped around a bit for the part and found it at a very reasonable price and after taxes, parts, stickers, brakes, he couldn't have made barely $100 for the labor (which is NOTHING compared to the cost of the larger dealerships' services in the area). In addition to the excellent quality of the work performed, reasonable price, and prompt service, the mechanics were all very respectful and friendly. They took me seriously and didn't assume (because I'm a woman) that I didn't know anything about cars (which many automotive service garages have done in the past).
