Filthy, lied about the medication given to grandma and changed her treatment plan which doctors advised not to do! she went there for rehabilitation from diverticulitis. They let her sit in fecal matter for so long, the acid from the fecal matter irritated her skin so bad we had rescue her & to take her to the emergency room. They deleted my prior review...! My mother and I are from Hawaii and I brought my mom here because my husband is from Texas. My biggest regret is having my mother have care here as she didn't have a good experience before she died. Friendship Haven Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center is a place worse than hell, it is a tartarus of misery, illness, and death. My grandmother spent less than 60 hours in this facility and had to be immediately admitted to a hospital. There are so many awful things my grandmother experienced in her short stay and things I witnessed in the 3 hours I spent at this hellhole that it would fill a book. The worst incident occurred when the night nurse in the 200 hall gave my grandmother two mysterious yellow pills and claimed they were Tylenol. My grandmother did not believe that based on the pill's appearance but took them anyway as the nurse kept screaming at her that they were Tylenol. The next morning the administration had her do a pill lineup and the closest-looking pill was aspirin. My grandmother has high blood pressure and is not supposed to take aspirin. The head nurse said she would file a grievance over the nurse lying about what medication was given, but there was never a grievance number provided. That is a clear violation of informed consent. The staff also neglects residents and left my grandmother in a soiled diaper for over two hours. The CNA screamed at us that the policy was to change the residents (who are more like prisoners) diapers every two hours. That is a human rights violation and directly contradicts what the head nurse said as she claimed that the policy is to change residents' clothing if the call light is on. I personally saw them take 40 minutes to change her even after we informed the administration of the delays. The CNA claimed she was in school to be a nurse, she should know the negative health effects of sitting in a soiled diaper for hours. The facility is disgusting. It is covered in feces and urine stains. There are water stains on the ceiling. There are bugs everywhere, even in the food trays. It has an atmosphere of death. If you have a relative at this facility and you do not want them to die, rescue them immediately! Please file a report with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services of any neglect or medical malpractice. Do not trust the reviews, if you look closely they are all written by "vendors" or "nurses" who have never been to this facility. They are written by AI and should be removed immediately. Friendship Haven is a facility that provides DECEPTION. The staff is incredibly lazy, deceptive, & unprofessional. Staff yelled repeatedly at my elderly grandmother. My poor grandmother was told she was given one medication, they LIED, the nurse gave her something completely different! The staff also changed treatment plans without approval from the hospital! They allowed my grandmother to sit in her poop for two hours, two hours is considered "normal". Her health has DECLINED back to square one, and now we have to take her BACK to the hospital! The staff creates a hostile death camp atmosphere. I wholeheartedly DON'T recommend Friendship Haven to any organization or family seeking top-tier respite care. Do not put your loved one at Friendship Haven. The Facility is poorly managed, most staff does not care. Management definitely is just there for a paycheck (they are evasive, like they are hiding something). In the 3 years my mother in law was there they had at least 5 Administrators and dozens of caregivers (no one is permanent, Agency Nurses most of the time). Housekeeping is terrible, roaches, patience peeing on the floor with no diapers on, no towels available for baths, lost clothes, and poor food quality. The lights and bells are going constantly, the Nurses just sit there on their phones and computers. Neglect is the best description. We thought that this was just how Nursing Homes are. We did not find out until we moved our loved one that there are Homes with management and staff who care, nurses who have stayed for the long term, have great food, everything as it should be as if it were your home. read more

Let's start at the end. I am walking back to visit my grandmother with my son. I am met with an empty bed. Completely unaware she had been sent out to the hospital. I was not notified of this. I was horrified the worst happened. That was the final straw for us. She would not be returning to friendship haven once she discharges. I went in emptied her room and was not so much as stopped or questioned on what I was doing. I have not received a call so much as to wondering how my grandma is and why she won't be returning. She went in 2/1 and today is 2/3. Aside from that I was met with excuses for my questions that couldn't be answered like "that didn't take place on my shift" " I'm night shift that happened during first shift". Only one nice nurse took any accountability or offered apologies. Communication not consistently passed down or notated. My grandma calling to inform me she's sick and throwing up and no one is aware or course of action taken to make sure she isn't dehydrated or that's she getting adequate nutrition through that. When I call I just hear that they can't make any change to her course of care with out a doctor. As her family and someone who knows her my assessment of her condition not taken into consideration as I'm being placated. Rarely called and updated one of the few times I was called about a course of care. It was a physical therapist on the phone. Giving her a discharge date a week and half before she was finished with a treatment she received intravenously requiring a longer stay not even knowing she was on it. Their staff is more than friendly and they all say nice things to make you feel comfortable but actions speak louder than words. I would not recommend putting a loved one in this facility. Do your research. Explore your options and go in a see for yourself these places if you can. read more

worst place ever. uncaring administrative staff, everyone of them! never met Don, Brent was always so busy. Room dirty spilled spaghetti on the floor ( talk about fall risk) I ended cleaning it after several request. No supplements for those not eating ( after hurricane) Mind you HEB right across the road. Patient on way toooooo many heavy duty sedative meds, till I demanded an eval. Never met M D or Np even though requested. I stated that I feel I'm watching my husband DIE, yes we hear that! what the hell. Day I found him in curled up fetal position was it! yelling don't touch me.. I am a health care professional , spoke to other in health care who reported same events. They as I did REMOVED their loved one He was on. Rehab hall .... right , private room right.... one false promise or deaf ear another. asked one of the techs have you seen his ( brand new) glasses. All agency nurses who don't take an interest in patients or facility. The same response "I'm agency, I don't know." Staff always has excuses instead of taking responsibility. Don't expect the call button to be answered on nights. Only one CNA for the entire hall. Patient safety is a concern as medication omission and medication errors are made. Food is lukewarm, not hot. That's if you get a tray. My mother's tray was missed two meals in a row. Bugs were seen in patient room, bathroom and nurses station. I hate to bad mouth businesses, however, this needs attention. On Sunday I went to Lola's for lunch. Upon leaving the restaurant I saw a man stuck in the grass in a wheelchair about 800 feet from this rehab. I helped him out of the grass while my friend ran to the rehab to get help. The man in the wheelchair's name is Terry and it was very apparent that he has Alzheimer's. How in the world did they not see this man leaving? It's was scary and very sad. I realize that all nursing homes have their issues. The beautiful decor or cost of the place does not necessarily mean it is better. It is the heart of the people working there that make or break them. My husband has been here at Friendship Haven for about 4 months now. I won't lie I have had some issues but I will say that we seem to be working them out by discussing the issues and I do appreciate their willingness to work with us to make my husbands stay better. I truly appreciate the special members of the staff that seem to always be helpful like nurses Lori, Carrie and Lois as well as aides Cher, Justin and Mike. If all nursing home employees were like these people our elderly would be so much happier. And we can't lay all blame on the home for issues. We as family members need to stay involved and be our loved one's advocates. I think if we continue to work together I can see me adding stars in the not so far future. read more

Nursing level of care is significantly below the standard of expected level of care! I don't know how they go home and sleep at night! I watched my father screaming in pain during a family facetime chat. I had to insist that they contact the doctor and get an order for a urinalysis. When I called the next day to check on my father, I was told nursing had NOT collected the specimen. I asked for another facetime call with my father only to find him still screaming and crying in pain. When insisting that my father be taken to the ER, I was threatened with he will be leaving against medical advice and the ER will send him back here. On arrival to the ER my father had a temperature of 101, he grew two bacteria in his urine and he had gastritis. This resulted in a nine day hospital stay. I had to take my father out of that place as soon as possible. The place was stinky of bodily fluids. The food was disgusting my dad couldn't even eat it. I mean how is anybody that stays there is supposed to get their nutrients if they can't eat the food that is served to them daily? And to top it off it was served to him cold everyday he was there. And their excuse was they serve the people in the dining area first. So if you have a health problem that limits you to walk and you have to be served in your room your food will come to you cold everyday that you are there. The chair for his guest to sit on that was inside his room was stained from other peoples bodily fluids. And you look out his window and see several chairs lined up outside, this facility should have added his guest chair along with that pile. We had quests from out of town come and visit him and they got sick to their stomach literally from the smell of this place and watching the elderly people all weak and smelling of soiled clothes. Walking down the hallways with our shoes sticking to the floor. And for 3 days laying in his bed, linens were unchanged and dirty and no wound care or sponge bath done at all. And when the problem was addressed I didn't appreciate the attitude the lady was giving me trying to play head games. Once all the problems were addressed THEN... they were trying to fix the problems. But come on now these people should not be getting served disgusting food daily they need their nutrients to live. And diabetics should be served a diabetic diet that was ordered by the patients doctor to get well and heal. read more

We put my Mom there for just 30 days during Hurricane Harvey, other than dementia, Moms health was fine. Prior to admitting my Mom we tired to take off her wedding band, engagement ring and 3 other rings that she had worn for 65 years, but her fingers were to swollen to remove them. Upon my moms release all 5 rings were stolen at Friendship Haven in Friendswood Texas. The had to have hurt her to remove those rings. We filed a report with FPD and management, if you Google review this place there are 5 other complaints of theft of patients at this facility. I wish I had know this, I never would have placed her there! My Mom concentrated C. Difficile while she was there and was sent home with it, she died 2 weeks after release from this facility.
