We came across Frijoles! While trying to find something to eat that was not nearby the Niagara Falls or that was different than all the same expensive stuff they sell around the Niagara Falls. Food was delicious! We were a group of about 8 people and nobody complained about how delicious everything was. We thought it was like a copy of Chipotle at first, but when you start eating and tasting their mouthwatering topics, well cooked meats, and the delightful combinations they have and original flavors you realize it is actually better than the mentioned above. This place is full of appetizing, flavorful food. Gotta try it!!!!!! Ps: I gave it 4 stars because service was a little slow, my only complaint. The chicken looked very bland, I couldn't tell if it was boiled or grilled. Plenty of toppings to choose from, rice, beans, cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, corn and sauce. We got the garlic jalapeño sauce. Sauce tasted good, but just wasn't enough to deliver any flavor to the bowl. Hola Frijoles! Based on Yelp reviews, we set off on a grand adventure from the Niagara Falls tourist bubble to real Canada! Frijoles did not disappoint! A unique local spot with courteous and friendly staff welcomed us. Frijoles is on the end of a strip mall, set back 1/2 block. The menu is small but mighty: tacos, rice/beans, and burritos as the main attraction. Multiple salsas and toppings make your meal one of a kind. The chips and guacamole are a nice side item too! The most filling and largest item is the burrito. Very good! The tacos are good, especially with shaved cabbage. Shrimp and rice with three different beans was interesting combination. I would get any of those again! Burrito is the biggest item by far, so if you're really hungry, go for the burrito. Tacos were tasty but I needed a side of chips to round out the meal. We were looking for some kind of food adventure besides from your typical food fare in Niagara Falls. And we came across this small taco and burrito place away from Cliffton Hills. The place was small with seating for just about 20 people. Their menu was very simple just tacos and burrito. You pick your protein, then your vessel and your toppings. Simple enough. We got trio tacos, chicken quesadilla and beef burrito. Trios tacos: was pretty decent, i found that the corn tortilla started to get soggy after a while. Flavours were good though Chicken quesadilla: was a decent size, packed with so much toppings and chicken Beef burrito: was gigantic, very filling and good flavours. Packed to the brim with beef and toppings. I would say it was good enough to satisfy our mexican craving. But this restaurant is no where close to being authentic, considering i have had authentic tacos and burritos in Los Angeles. Great Mexican style fast food in a plaza a 10 minute drive away from the Niagara Falls. We ordered the trio fish tacos and a bean and cheese burrito. The burrito was huge and satisfying. I liked that they put 3 different types of beans and had some unique topping options, such as pickled cabbage. The fish tacos were tasty but the fish became soggy - so finish this first if you're ordering/sharing multiple times. At the food handler's recommendation, we had put cilantro lime sauce on the tacos and it was delicious. Service stood out to me for being so friendly, especially for a fast food place! read more

I understand why the "exclamation mark" at the end of frijoles (which by the way means BEANS in Spanish)....its for "HOLY FRIJOLES BATMAN, THESE TACOS ARE AMAZEBALLS!" And they are. Try the burritos, they're great too! The pulled-chicken is so good, you almost forget its chicken. Its not overly cooked or dry but juicy and perfectly seasoned. Ok for what it is...a Chipotle. However, prices are higher as were portions that are slightly bigger. Staff was patient as burritos/bowls/tacos do require some questions and decision-making by customers. Like I said, this is a quick eatery, not a full-on waiter service Mexican place. I got a chicken burrito, easily shareable amongst 2ppl, and it was $13+change, including tax. I didn't give the burrito maker much direction, so there was quite a bit of rice, a good amount of chicken, not too much veg. Rice/meat seemed fresh. However, I will say that there wasn't any flavour inherently "Mexican" in the rice/meat. They were both seasoned, but just not with any kind of Mexican flavour. I drove down to Niagara Falls on to visit family and over dinner the night before we got to talking about Mexican food and my love for a good burrito...Light bulbs went on over their heads and they said there was no way I was leaving before trying a burrito from Frijoles! Fresh Mex burritos. Next day we drove to this small corner restaurant, just another hidden gem amongst many I have seen so far since moving to Southern Ontario. The interior is casual and festive with cheap, hilarious decor with a blowup boat in one corner. The menu is small and written on a chalkboard and on a paper behind glass at the cashier. The place is counter service where you place your order and then work your way down the line adding rice, beans, meat, veggies, cheese, guacamole, salsa, etc., to your meal. I ordered the Chicken Burrito, whole wheat wrap for me, skipped on rice and went straight for the pinto beans. Pulled chicken was loaded on and then proceeded to add cheese, jalapenos, pico de gallo, guac and my choices of Salsa Verde and Red Ringer hot sauce. Yum! With my mouth wide open I watched them wrap up my masterpiece and throw it on the cooktop to give it some warmth and a slight crunch on the outside. My first bite was was a burst of excitement, I didn't say a word... The next bite was even louder in my mouth as I got even more of the goodness stuffed inside. Now warning to future patrons...This baby is huge so come hungry! I don't know how I did it but I managed to finish it AND down a bottle of their delicious grapefruit Jarritos Mexican soda. I was satisfied, but also ordered, was a side of homemade corn chips, small round corn discs that you can break into smaller pieces for dipping in guacamole and your choices of salsas. I had to try them! Oh and awesome guacamole! Chunky just the way I like it! This place rose the bar for what I expect in any burrito i will consume again. I give the burrito 5 stars alone! Other items on the menu include soft tacos, quesadillas and a mexi-salad. It's not a licensed restaurant so don't expect any fun Mexican adult drinks, but whether it's your quick stop to pick up lunch or a sit down visit for dinner, I recommend this place. Good tacos in the falls? No way! Frijoles is a small space in a strip mall. They serve some up Mexican fare and the space is pretty cool. The staff are friendly and the food is surprisingly solid. All the ingredients are fresh...extremely fresh! They have a 3 taco deal and all their tacos are double shelled which is a nice change from a lot of the taco shops I've been to recently. They also have an American and Baja style tacos. I only had a chance to try the baja style tacos and again everything was extremely fresh. Though this place won't give you flashbacks to Mexico it can MORE than fill your taco craving and I'll go as far as saying it's the best Mexican food I've tried in the Niagara region. read more

We ordered a chicken burrito, pork burrito, taco trio with fish, garlic grilled shrimp and beef just to try the different flavors. You have various options for toppings like various types of beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, pico, guac, etc. I couldn't be as adventurous because the kids had to be able to eat. I feel like the food was under seasoned. Each item was around $14 so it's okay but not that cheap. The place is kind of fast food - you order and then find somewhere to sit. There weren't too many tables actually. Some bar seating and a few tables. Unfortunately I wasn't super impresssed. This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it's better than the average burrito place! They have burritos and rice bowls that can be filled with your choice of protein like chicken, fish, pulled pork and steak. The veggie ingredients also look and actually taste fresh - even better when your burrito is generously filled with them! I like their fish burrito which was a good size and when combined with all the veggies, it was filling! It came out to about $10 something, which is great when compared to other places like Chorizo and Burrito Boyz that give you less for more. My only complaint is that the tortillas are a bit thin and the burritos break easily, so you'll need a fork if you don't want to end up with the contents of your burrito all over you. Not really feeling this place. Frijoles came highly recommended, and maybe that's why my expectations were high, but after eating there, I won't be back. As other reviews have mentioned, the food is fresh, but I didn't feel that anything about the menu stood out. Basic meat, basic veggies, basic other additions to make a massive burrito or taco. I felt the prices were a little steep for what I was getting. A couple burritos and a couple tacos and drink landed me a $34 bill. While eating, I looked around the store a little just to check the details because, the devil is in the details. Once sitting, I noticed how nothing above arms reach was clean and covered in dust. There was food splatter all over the wall that was within arms reach. And the child high chair was in disrepair. If they can't take a moment to clean the things that people can see, I question the care for the things we can't see. Copying Chipotle's conveyor-belt style, Frijoles! Fresh Mex Burritos gives you a lot of customizability. Mine pretty much had everything you could possibly add including an awesome grilled jalapeno hot sauce. After you finish adding all your options, they top it off by frying it. After my first bite, I was in love. The crunchy tortilla on the outside combined with a medley of cabbage, fish, guacamole, corn, and everything else felt so right. My only issue was that the fish was a little bit too mushy for my liking. But everything else was perfect. My favorite part was actually all the sauce options they have ranging from mild to extremely hot. The hottest one they have is actually really hot so try ordering this on the side. It has a delicate sweetness while packing a fiery punch. This is one of those special restaurants that need to be on everyone's map. So don't delay! read more

This place was recommended to us by the attendant at our hotel check-in, so we decided we would trust the local advice and drive off the touristy Las-Vegas-style strip and see what they had going on. Let me warn you: the restaurant is in a strip mall. I was extremely skeptical based on its location. But once I walked in, I felt more comfortable: nice decor, and the place was definitely hopping, so that's a good sign. I'm hispanic. I've lived in Mexico. And this was the best burrito I've had....maybe ever. They make everything there, all the sauces and all the fillings. There were lots of good vegetarian combinations possible (though vegan would have been harder). The sauces were absolutely amazing. I got a veggie burrito and had trouble stopping eating when I was full because it was so delicious. My husband got the veggie quesadilla and said it was phenomenal, though he got hot sauce on it so I couldn't try it. Definitely without a doubt a secret treasure in Niagara Falls. read more

We ran across this place trying to find vegetarian food. The restaurant was essentially a make-your-own burrito/taco/quesadilla place. The ingredients were excellent, with a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. The staff were all extremely friendly and patient. The location is only a 10-15 min drive from the falls and is a hole-in-the-wall place. However the place is very well-maintained and decorated. I'd like to mention once again that the quality of the Mexican cuisine was excellent. They had a wide variety of sauces, and it felt very Californian/Baja (an extremely good thing here!). Excellent fresh made tacos and burritos. Had a pork carnitas burrito with a couple of the house made sauces (chipotle lime and their 50/50 were both phenomenal). All ingredients were very fresh, and grilling the burrito before serving made it awesome. The soft shell tacos were very tasty and while I don't think they were made in house they tasted like they were made somewhere fresh. Only complaint is the chips, nothing more than bagged chips, but they were fine for dipping in the tasty guacamole. read more

The food was so fresh and delish even though it was 30 mins before closing time. The fish tex mex customized salad was my fave. I also tried a steak taco and I have to be honest that while there was a good amount of meat on it, it was mostly fat. But that didn't put a damper on the overall experience. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. The hubs' burrito was gigantic. I didn't ask to taste it (which I usually do) and he didn't offer. Cute little place inside with excellent customer service. A little more expensive than my favourite Niagara Falls Mexican restaurant, but they do have seating whereas the other place does not. I would say the food here is good, but not as flavourful as I'm used to, but still good. I like their super hot scotch bonnet salsa, though. Wow!!! My wife and I found this place driving around trying to get away from the tourist area of Niagara Falls and boy was this a great find!! I got the Meat Medley Burrito (Pork, Chicken, Beef) with a chipotle sauce. It was near perfect. Meat was cooked well, moist, and seasoned just right. The rice was a little bland but it didn't take away from flavor of the burrito. My wife got a quesadilla with the 'salsa verde' and again it was near perfect! While the location was a couple miles from the normal tourist attractions, it was by far the best place to eat- that is in comparison to the multiple steakhouses and restaurants around the Fallsview Marriott which I stayed at. So good, in fact, that I went twice! My first visit I had a steak burrito. My second, I had a mex salad, which is basically a burrito without the tortilla x2. SOOO GOOD. I really don't get the hype about this place. I ordered the tacos which were edible but I couldn't finished them all and not because I got full. The steak and chicken were ok but the fish was mushy. My tortillas were too hard, they overcooked them. I thought about trying the burrito but I'm glad I didn't try it. First off the one girl was was making burritos without gloves, but then again I don't know if that's a normal thing there but not my cup of tea. Then she didn't know how to roll a burrito, it was more of a stuff and flip. I don't think I'll be back to visit if I'm ever in the area again. read more
