We were looking for something decent to eat and weren't that hungry when we arrived. So I feel that we had the opportunity to think about our choices, and really fester over them. The place when you step into it is really a well Themed restaurant, very clean, decorated with think you would find in Mexico, like the large hats. The room reminds me of dining in Mexico off the resorts. The place is very busy! The derive was nice, but please be patient with your wait staff they have been busy probably for hours before you got there, and we're still quite pleasant. We ordered some beer and a jalapeño drink, and it was off the charts! The food, we had the sample platter, which I'm not in any rush to get back to. The taquitos were quite bland as were the cheese quesadillas. The nachos also were just meh. The salsa was just really a cup of tomato juice, with some small floating bits of cilantro and onions, I wish this was a real pico, but I think they may have run out... guac also a little disappointing in this dish. It was quite low on the flavour profile over all. It's a great idea, but the food was quite bad. The pulled beef tacos, this dish comes with three tacos, and let me tell you, this really hit it out of the park!! Omg every bite was WOW! The meat was so tender and well seasoned, I could have eaten all 5 tacos (we added an extra two for $10), and the jus that comes with this, omg omg omg!!! So so so good! I would love to eat this every single day! Our last dish was the quesadilla, I chose chicken as my protein, but this was a little flat as I like my quesadilla really crunchy fro the tortilla, and the filling had some really good chewy, stringy cheese that I really enjoyed, however that chicken filling could really use some more spices or more tang. It was quite under flavoured. We really enjoyed the experience of this Mexican restaurant, and I know many of us are dying to fly out, but if you want authentic Mexican foods, this is certainly on top my go to list. I went here for my birthday last year. The food was good, but my experience was ruined. I had left a gift that I had received during my dinner. Once I remembered a couple of hours later, I went back and asked if they still had it. They said they'd call the manager in the morning. The next day, I called and was told that one of the worker's friends had a birthday party around the same time, and they mistakenly thought the gift was hers and gave it to her. They said they would get it back and call me. I waited--no call. I called again after a couple of days--still nothing. I called once more, and they said the friend and the worker would be meeting soon to return the gift, and that they'd call me and keep me updated. It's now been almost a year, and I never received a call back. The fact that one of the employees just gave my gift to their friend is stealing. If you couldn't get it back, the least you could've done was call me and say that. It honestly felt like they were just hoping I'd forget and stop calling. Be transparent next time. It was strange that they had him working tables inside as well as on the patio, so he was running back and forth but wasn't able to give the tables the attention they deserved. Food was bland and so tasteless, went based on other reviews but it's not a place we would return to. We got the Margarita tower which was 50 bucks and although the flavour was good I doubt that there was any tequila in it. I would recommend to not get it and just order a margarita by the glass. I had chicken Quesadillas and the chicken was over cooked and it was so dry, everything was dry and flavourless. Portions are a good size but that doesn't really matter if the food isn't good. An unassuming Mexican restaurant! Very authentic, lots of selection and absolutely amazing food! We had the pulled pork nachos, birria tacos and suadero tacos. Monday-Thursday you can opt for the "Mixed Taco Platter" that lets you get 6 tacos for $30, as opposed to getting 3 for $18! This was definitely more than enough food for 2 people and we ended up taking some of the food home with us. If you are in Niagara Falls area this place is about a 15-20 minute drive and well worth it. If not for the size of the facility , music volume, and just okay desserts I would have easily given this place a 5 star on service and food quality and taste. We had a table of eight needed and when we first got there it was on the busy side so we agreed to split into two tables of four which we thought was very accommodating given the wait was up to 45min. After being seated ordering our drinks and appetizers the table next to us left and the rearranged to sit us all together. Again very accommodating. We didn't expect them to seat us together at all. For appetizers we got to types of queso fundito and both were absolutely delicious. Would have liked to have tried more apps just for that reason. We were there on a Tues so Taco Tuesday meant $5CA so like $3.50US tacos. I got 6 all different kinds and added cheese to all except the most delicious imo the coconut shrimp taco. But seriously all were excellent. Seriously! My youngest son and my father-in-law both got the pulled pork nachos and my wife and daughter both got the fajitas. They were both great and high quality but they are what they are. My son-in-law got a mix of enchiladas and he went on and on about them but I didn't try them so couldn't be sure but he definitely approved. My oldest son got a burrito and while I don't recall what all was in it I remember thinking this may be one of the better burritos I've had. Dessert was ordered in style nearly getting one of everything to sample as we knew the likelihood of ever returning was slim (we are from Oklahoma where Mexican restaurants are on every other corner). The description of the carrot cake was promised as the last you ever want to eat type good but I know where the best in the world is. It is in Ardmore OK and no one will ever be able to convince me otherwise but I was happy to let them attempt it. While decent I wouldn't consider it in my top 5. Sorry missed a bit. The Oreo cake on the other hand was pretty delicious. A bit less rich than expected but still very good. The caramel cheesecake was okay but didn't pop like I thought it might either while I would say on the dolce leche to pass unless you like a bit more of a soggy style cake. All in all still some the best food and definitely better prices for great food in the area. This was hands down one of the better places we ate near Niagara. And we ate at many. Full disclosure, I'm from California where we have all types of Mexican Food from Modern Mex with a twist to your home grown style. I really wanted a taste of the spices while visiting and this spot was just the remedy. I would definitely recommend. Now to more info, they offered chips and salsa which were excellent and made me hopeful for the rest of the meal. They didn't have the tacos al pastor, apparently it is popular and so they sell out. Would think they could remedy this issue? Chose the Enchiladas Suizas which was another recommendation. The chicken was cooked perfectly and flavorful, the spices were great, a bit strong but very good. They offered a small bit of beans, rice and a side salad. The salad was a nice sized portion made with a variety of lettuces - no iceberg in site. The margaritas seemed popular however I was unable to drink as I was driving. A lively Mexican restaurant with fresh chips and salsa and authentic looking plates. The nopales quesadilla (cactus) was crunchy with lots of flavour (and probably salt). I asked to omit the cilantro but was told that it was already mixed. Luckily, the cilantro flavour wasn't strong, and I just tasted the cheese, onions and tomatoes. The quesadilla comes with beans, rice and salad... to which they were all a little underwhelming. Unfortunately, my rice was cold and crunchy...it was like they didn't heat it up enough. It was also oily. I tasted no dressing in the salad and the little bean dip was okay, like refried beans, but salty. The service was poor. I know it was dinnertime on a Sunday and it was busy, but our glasses of water were never filled and after 20mins of waiting for our bill, we ended up going to the counter to pay because our waitress was busy. Was really hoping we could get our fix of good Mexican food here, as we've recently moved into the area, but alas, our search must continue. The service was okay, pleasant, but inconsistent (we had to ask for cutlery, napkins, side plates for our appetizers, where other tables had them already). The food was edible, but definitely NOT anything we'd rush back for. The choriqueso was a lumpy mass of mild chorizo and solidified cheese, where we were hoping for something much more dippable (y'know, like in real Mexican restaurants). The nachos were okay, the salsa was a simple watery blend of mostly tomatoes, onions and peppers. None of it was anything one couldn't have easily replicated at home. The mains, fajitas and carne asada, were similarly very average. As others have noted, there was no real punch of flavour in anything. I did quite enjoy the refried beans, so one thing on the plate was a standout, at least. The main course was the fajitas within two meat options, as you can see in the picture, it was the most tender beef and chicken I've had with fajitas. It was presented nice in a cast iron skillet and piping hot. Just the best Mexican place you can go! Now from the outside it doesn't look like much and maybe a little worn down and once you walk in on your left is a good size area which I think is for takeout, and then you go up a few steps to the restaurant. I visited this restaurant recently and cannot say enough great things about it! We were a group of 8; and everyone was raving about the meal at the end. The waitress was phenomenal as she went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and get us want we wanted. For example, we really love queso and noticed that they had it as a side but not an appetizer...the waitress said it was no problem and they'd make it an appetizer with chips and salsa for us! As an entree I ordered chicken and shrimp fajitas. The shrimp are huge! This is definitely a huge portion! A bunch of my friends ordered the chimichangas and quesadillas and were very happy. After coming here for years, i can see why most of the severs have left! Not impressed people! For the second straight time in as many attempts to eat here with a reservation they didn't acknowledge giving away my reservation to another table of walk ins. The guy on the phone hung up on me 5 times before i could even book it, then the woman on the phone booked it 6th time. Showed up for the second time with a confirmed reservation. Some server sat randoms at our table! They didn't ask my name until after i questioned it. 6:30 was my reservation time, 6:48 we said we were leaving. The disrespectful servers (3) ladies and one guy uttered no apologies, no excuses, no restitution nothing whatsoever. I had 2 guests from Brampton visiting that spent 1.5 hrs. Last time had guests from Guelph and Orchard Park. Not acceptable! I've been going here for years, spent thousands of dollars there with groups in the past, personal experiences and work meetings. Not going to happen ever again. I don't care how busy you are, reservations are reservations! Either don't accept them or you make darn sure those who's names and timed are actually are written in the little notebook are LOOKED AFTER! No matter how good your over priced food and drinks are this unacceptable service isn't worth the drama and the B.S. its a good thing i can cook Mexican food as good or better than you, or i'd be even more frustrated. Don't treat your clients like crap! Poor business practices and if you keep it up Karma will bite you on the butt and you'll be making tacos on a street corner. I saw good reviews for this place in Bon Appetit and Yelp and hoped it would be an unexpected gem. Turns out it was OK, but nothing I would recommend to someone visiting. Salsa wasn't great but the table top guacamole was good with extra salt and pepper. My shrimp in the tacos Yucatán were very good, but I can buy better flour tortillas in a grocery store in Texas. They would have been awesome with something homemade (and see through from the lard). My boyfriend liked the meat in the carne asada tacos but said the rice was bland. My husband and I decided to stop here with our kiddos after seeing the four-star marks ... but after being there, I feel it's closer to three, because it's just ok. For starters, the prices are a tad on the high side for expected/commercialized dishes. While I don't mind spending more for quality -- or authentic bites -- seeing a menu that heavily focuses on quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, and fajitas -- all things I can get at a chain restaurant -- is underwhelming. Another thing that was very underwhelming was my strawberry daiquiri. The flavor had more of a juice than alcohol taste that definitely did not make it worth the money. As a positive, the tortillas and salsa give to each table are handmade and quite tasty. Definitely not your Tostitos chips, which is a nice change. The chicken fajitas we ordered were hot and pretty good. The chicken was soft, though the amount of peppers, onions, and mushrooms outnumbered our poultry friend about 2-to-1. Like other places, we also received guacamole, sour cream, a beans sauce, and rice -- but unlike other places had handmade tortillas which were nice. Our kids' quesadillas looked good. And, speaking of kids' food, our server told us this restaurant doesn't have a kids menu, but then proceeded to tell us the few items they can make for children. They, however, get bonus points for the ice cream that comes with their meals. All in all, I thought this place was just ok, but am willing to round up to a four because of our service, the quantity of food overall, and the ice cream kids get. Rude servers, terrible service and high prices. Servers handed me and my date off between two servers to start, leaving us confused as to where to sit. While waiting to find out who would serve us a older server shoulder checked me walking around me from behind without even asking for me to move aside and gives a passing "sorry", not missing a stride. Then a server had to ask us if the food he had in his hands was ours, so unprofessional and unorganized. To top it all off, the server OUT LOUD infront of all the other diners asked why I tipped so low.
