I received a call the morning of my appointment to cancel because the stylist was not coming in. I thought this was unnacceptable and pleaded with them to fit me in which they did. The stylist Joann who came in early was nice. I told her i wanted some red color mixed with my brown. She did no consultation and I know I have eyes and can make a decision but it came out awful. The color is not even. The top is red and the bottom is my natural color. She let the ASSISTANT do most of the work. This was for a Groupon so maybe they didnt care that much. I was truly dissapointed since I live so close and just looking for a decent place to call home. Now I have to find some place else to go to get my color fixed before my birthday :-( 2 weeks later.... After the owner contacted me I went in so she could fix my hair. I found about Fringe through a Groupon offer for eyelash extensions. I chose it because it was the closest salon to my house, and what an incredible stroke of luck! Since then, I've been there nearly every single week (sometimes twice in a week!). I get my eyelashes and my eyebrows done by Melissa, who is unbelievably talented. I always let Cindy do my hair, because she gets my Rockabilly style so well that I trust her with my hair more than I trust myself. Every time I walk out of there, I get compliments from everyone about how great it looks. Everyone there is totally chill, they clearly love working there, and it's a total no-attitude, no product sales pitch zone. I always joke that I should just move in, THAT'S how much I love it. I live in the area and decided I should check out this place, since I needed a trim that was long overdue..I enter (I had an appointment) and ask for a short hair cut and an under-shave, they ended up telling me that nobody in the salon could do that for me so I just stuck with a short hair cut (my hair was a little past the shoulders before the cut). The cut cost me 50 dollars!!! FOR NOT MORE THAN ONE INCH AND HALF OF HAIR!!! They told me the price included the price of the haircut and a blow out, BUT I passed on the blowout because I have curly hair that I did not want to have any heat damage on it. The ONLY reason I'm leaving two stars is because the hairdresser that cut my hair was very sweet and she put in two products aimed for curly hair that was thoughtful (but just made my curls flat). Now I go to Rutherford for my cut and it's only 20 dollars, so IN MY OPINION, they need to revise their pricing here. read more

Not a bad place. I bought a groupon for two gel manicures for 29 bucks, which is a great deal since the cheapest I've seen a gel is 25. For some odd reason, both times i called to confirm my appointment and both times they couldn't find it. The first time they had a different name listed, and the second time they couldn't find me at all. So definitely confirm before going in. I'm not sure if its their policy to confirm appointments like some salons. The first time I was helped by an older lady and she was absolutely lovely. She chatted with me the whole time, answered all my questions and was really nice. The second time I came was a different girl who didn't do any talking (and also broke one of my nails while filing them, glad I was getting short nails either way -_-) she was also really rough while cleaning the nail. This salon is a trip in a timewarp circa 1997. My stylist seemed senior and experienced but gave me a look that in no way resembled the inspiration picture. I asked for large curls with a picture and she wrapped 1/4" strands around a curling iron in a wavy manner, with ends straight. Results were embarrassing, I looked stringy and like I'd just come from a shower and crunched gel into my hair. There's no way this person books commercial shoots, as she'd claimed. She also plugged her personal website many times when she saw I was shopping online, then spelled the address, assuming I'd go to it. When she was finished, I explained that I couldn't wear my hair like that - instead of explaining how/why she did it that way, she argued that that was what I'd asked for. Wasn't rude but was defensive. I smiled and nodded, knowing I'd be redoing my own hair the following day. I hope someone in management looks at this and inquires, I am happy to send them pictures. read more

I absolutely love fringe! The salon is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. Jacquelene did my hair better than I could have imagined. The cut & color is perfect and exactly what I was looking for but couldn't describe! She knew exactly what to do for my hair type which is always what you would want in a hairstylist. They offer wine, coffee, etc. which is a really nice perk. The staff seems to all get along which makes the appointment enjoyable compared to other salons I've gone to. I've gone to Fringe a handful of times. I get my gel manicures done by Nicole and she does a great job. She's always down to try new things on my nails and never tries to charge me extra. They always have an assortment of treats to eat and offer you coffee/tea/water as soon as you walk in. I came to this salon as a part of their 25$ facial promotion they did. I arrive for my appointment and they look confused as to why I'm there for a facial. After a few mins of waiting a woman approached me and apologized that the esthetician wasn't in that day and they couldn't contact me. I rescheduled for today and arrived to be ignored by multiple staff who had looked at me and just turned away. Finally, someone sat me at the sofa to wait. I wasn't able to put my stuff down because of numerous cups of unattended coffee that was just sitting on the table for god only knows how long. It came time for my facial and she had no care in the world to have conversation with me which made me uncomfortable. She then handed me a robe and suggested that I get dressed in the bathroom in the hall. NEVER have I ever had to get dressed in a bathroom for a facial- always in a room. I was not impressed with her as she didn't ask about my regimen for skin care use nor did she tell me what kind of products she'd be using throughout the facial. The ambience of the room was cold and uncomfortable. She went on to do extractions on my face without steaming first- therefore hurting me trying to extract my pores. At the end of my facial I was not given any time to slowly get up and adjust, she did not recommend any type of products or offer me any type of advice for skin care. Definitely not even worth the 25$ I paid for this facial. Won't be coming back here nor would I suggest anyone spending the actual price of a facial for here. read more

I went to Fringe Salon for an Opi Gel manicure and regular pedicure. I was very pleased by the Excellent service that was provided from Gisele. Gisele seemed to be a very outgoing, generous worker who made me feel very comfortable being the first timer that I was. She did one of THE best Gel manicures I have ever received. Did an excellent job filing, and keeping my nails the long length in which they are. As for my pedicure, she gave me a very relaxing massage on both my legs/feet, I could have fell asleep ! BEST HAIR CUT and BLOW OUT I HAVE EVER GOTTEN! I'm very skeptical and hard to please when it comes to my precious hair, which has its own zip code. To ease my tension and pre-hair cut anxiety, Leah assured me that it will be the best hair cut I've ever been given, and in deed it was by far the BEST cut I've ever received (and I have been to A LOT of high end salons!). I didn't think there could be anything better than the sexy cut Leah gave me, until I saw my hair after Ashley blew it out! My thick long curly hair (also referred to as a mane) came out the silkiest and straightest I have ever seen it....and it lasted for DAYS! Even on day 4, I looked like I just spent $500 for a NYC cut and style. I've never received so many compliments on my hair before! (Ashly also did a great job on my color as well) . I am updating my previous review from 2012 because Fringe has gotten a new owner since the last time I was there in 2011. I recently started coming back to Fringe after my boyfriend's mom has had several great experiences there. I first came for a blowout on a Friday afternoon. When I called a few days before, Michael, the Salon Manager fit me in at the time I had requested. I met Jacquelene, the Owner when I first came in and she's very welcoming and nice. Andrea did my hair and I really liked the way it came out. I had to go to a wedding and my blowout and curls lasted the whole night. I then came back for highlights and went to Daniella. She is an excellent stylist who really listens and also makes great suggestions. I came in on a Sunday this time - it's so convenient that Fringe is open Sundays and also seven days a week. Also, Gia and Brianna, the Salon Assistants are super sweet and very helpful. The prices here are very reasonable and are all listed on their website along with all the different services they provide. I'm coming back to Daniella again for highlights in a few weeks and this will be the salon I go to from now on. read more

Absolutely the best salon in northern NJ. I personally came to them with a color correction problem that I thought had no solution.. needless to say from the owner to my hair stylist to the assistants were amazing and knowledgeable. I was greeted by their manager who was an absolute pleasure and made me feel as if I've known him for years. He assured me my hair would look amazing by the time I was done. I was offered coffee, water, tea, wine and champagne! Fantastic customer service from the moment I called to book my appointment... I was there on their late night at 5:45 for a consultation but was hoping they could fix my hair the same day in which they certainly did. I couldn't be more grateful to this salon for accommodating me and staying open till almost 10pm to make sure I left their salon a happy customer. I will NEVER visit another salon again. I had came to fringe hair and nail salon for a great package deal i had bought off of living social. It was for a single process, haircut, shampoo, condition, manicure and wax for $59!! How great is that! The salon is a little hard to find but the decor was beautiful! I didnt expect the salon to look so nice just by looking at the outside. Parking was a little confusing but my stylist let me kno that there are two parking lots on either side or i could have parked on the street. So excited i did not have to walk far. My stylist julie was great!! She was so knowledgeable and informative i knew my hair was in great hands! She took the time to have a 15 minute consultation with me about my hair before we even started. No one ever seemed to take as much time as she did to make sure i was going to get exactly what i had asked for. my stylist also never left me wondering what she was doing, she explained every step of the way and made me feel like i was involved in what she was doing. Never left to sit without knowing what was in my hair and why. It was comforting. Needless to say i was very pleased with my color and my haircut that day and will now be seeing her every 4 weeks to cover my grays!!! My manicurist Gisele was also great!!! 5 days with almost no chipping. I was very pleased. Gisele also waxed my eyebrows for me and gave me a great shape. I didnt even have to go home and pluck them after like usual!!! There was also great energy inside the salon. You could feel that the stylists knew what they were doing and that they love their job. I purchased a voucher for haircut, full hi lights and a glaze. When I made my appointment with Noel, I explained that I have short hair and that the person that cuts my hair should know how to cut short hair into trendy cuts. So I get to the salon and Daniela brings me over and says that she will do my hi lights and that Mary would cut my hair. I told Daniela that the winter was here and that I wanted warm hi lights and that because I have thin hair the hi lights need to be very thin. My hair is 2 times lighter than when I got there. Then Mary takes over and starts cutting my hair now I'm 48 but I do not like to have old fashioned cuts or blow drys. This is exactly what happened, hair was flipped up in the back and was not what I wanted at all. There were no finishing sprays or product. My experience was not a good one. read more

I have curly hair so I've been to so many salons my whole life that didn't know how to cut my hair the right way or the way I asked. I have been to a ton of salons in NJ and no where compares to FRINGE! I go to LORETTA and she is by far the best it could get. She doesn't pressure you into doing things you really don't want to do- meaning - when you go to other salons they are always trying to get you to get a haircut or glaze just so they can make more money! They are always on time with their appointments and offer your snacks and drinks while you sit and get your hair/nails done =) The staff is always nice and they do their absolute best to accommodate your needs. I go to Fringe for my acrylic/gel color manicures. I followed Nicole there, as I've been a customer of hers for years. The atmosphere at Fringe is great. Everyone is so friendly and professional. The decor is contemporary and comfortable, and the coffee service is a nice touch. I'm contemplating going for a haircut with Leah, as I've heard a lot of great things about her (& I'm pretty picky about my cuts!). The only small complaint I have is the acoustics. It gets pretty noisy in there, which is typical of a busy salon, but some fabrics and soft surfaces would help. Nicole does such a fantastic job that I would have followed her anywhere. Not only is she certified in the latest techniques, she's an absolute perfectionist. Her work is flawless. She stays on top of the latest trends, and always offers great suggestions as to color choices. She's an absolute master at " pink & whites" too, which is what she did on me for years. I love the natural way she makes them look. Both the pink & whites and the gel colors last for weeks. As far as I'm concerned she's the best in Northern NJ! read more
