I had one speech therapist (not at this clinic) tell me that my daughter had reached her potential with speech therapy services (which was devastating given she still had a significant lisp). I was referred to Smalltalk last May (2018) and from the first conversation with Holly Willis, I knew they were in it for the service of the child and this clinic was tremendously skilled. Holly listened to my concerns, sympathized with me and showed a genuine interest in what she could offer us in the form of therapy - it felt like she REALLY cared, not just business or trying to fit her into the schedule for the revenue. Holly really does care profoundly about every child she works with!! Holly paired my daughter with Trish because she felt it would be a good personality fit. Oh my goodness, was she so RIGHT!!!! Ms. Trish worked with my daughter consistently this past year starting at the very basic level and they clicked right from the start. Ms. Trish had to be very upfront with her sometime when she felt things were not progressing and she quickly got her back on track (this is HUGE, given working with a pre-teen is more challenging than when they are really little). My daughter made TREMENDOUS progress and I can honestly say that my daughter FINALLY does not have an articulation disorder!!!! EIGHT years of therapy and only ONE year with Ms. Trish and BOOM--- tremendous breakthrough and effective remediation! Why didn't I know about her earlier????!!!!! Ms. Trish was always available to assist with extra support via texts and have my daughter send her videos of her reading her homework assignment providing feedback right away. She changed things up as needed and was very flexible with our schedule. Trish showed a genuine interest and tender care of her both social/emotionally as well as helping her along the way gain the necessary skills to self-correct on her own and articulate with great confidence! The time and effort Trish spent with my daughter is priceless, she would do it in a heartbeat for yours too!! My daughter not only gained the confidence, support and lifelong skills, but she gained a friend and mentor. This would have drastically changed our experience, so I'm increasing my rating in good faith that the experience of future clients will be better. This is probably a GREAT place to take your newborn up to around 6 months. I'm not sure I would recommend them over that age - or maybe we just didn't get the right provider for us. I am a super aware mom. This is my third child. She's had CST and chiropractic care since she was two weeks old. Her pediatrician was aware of her delayed crawling and babbling, but kept delaying therapy because she is a third child and also a very easy going baby who is usually very content to remain in place and watch everyone. There were concerns that her tie releases were not successful, so I took her back to the dentist to get them checked a second time. I say all of this because I want to be clear that I have been taking her to various professionals to support her pretty much weekly for an entire year now. I have done everything that was suggested to me to support my child, to the point of missing 4+ hours of work every week and paying several hundred dollars every month for all the different services and providers. I have done everything I know to do to support my child and am already feeling defeated by her progress - I bring this up because it is really the reason for my negative review. My daughter had a REALLY rough start. She had RSV as an infant and was hospitalized for a week (including a lumbar puncture), was born with an asymmetrical head shape and torticollis (hence the weekly CST and chiro care), tongue, lip, and buccal ties (all revised, and re-checked), had some concerning signs of potential seizures early on so endured a 3 day EEG around six months (all clear), and some ear concerns most recently (flushed both ears and given an all clear by an ENT). I'm not usually an anxious mom, but I was very excited for this appointment because I have actually been a little anxious about my daughter's developmental delays. My sons were on target with everything and I notice all the things, so it has been bothering me that my daughter was not doing the same. I was looking forward to a professional's guidance and support, and feeling like we had a path forward. I really just wanted some hope and some peace of mind and a plan. My daughter, much like my older kids at this age, is not a fan of strangers right now, especially after the doctor visits she's had in the last six months. Naturally, she cried the moment she realized this appointment was for her (she's 12 months old). When the PT began reviewing our info, one of her very first comments was "I'm very concerned that your pediatrician waited so long to send you because I'm not sure if she'll even let me touch her now." This was such a weird comment to me, and made me a bit frustrated. I cannot change the advice I was given, but now I feel like I've messed up (before we even started the appt) and I feel guilty for my child crying. I'm already feeling like a bad mom at this point of the appointment. For the remainder of our hour, the PT did ask great questions and make great observations, it was clear she was very knowledgable, but I heard the words "very concerned" over and over and over and over again. I can't emphasize that enough. Everything made her "very concerned". I don't think I ever heard "don't worry" or "it's going to be ok" or "we can work on this" or anything encouraging or positive. I left the appointment feeling more anxious, like I had done all the things wrong, my daughter had a lot of "very concerning" signs, and it was already too late for a lot of the suggestions (not enough tummy time, not getting stretches early enough, etc). I really don't want to ding this office, because scheduling was great, the office was nice, and the provider was knowledgable, but I guess the bedside manner just wasn't right for us.

We had such an amazing experience at the beautiful and welcoming Frisco Birth Center for both births and formed a truly special relationship with Margie that will never be forgotten. Margie is an incredibly kind, gentle, supportive, knowledgeable, and professional midwife who genuinely cares about her clients in a way that is rare in any medical setting. Throughout pregnancy, she promptly answered any questions or concerns that arose, even making herself available between visits as needed, despite her busy schedule. Our older children came with me to prenatal appointments and they adore her as much as we do! She took the time to teach them and let them get involved in finding baby's heartbeat and position, which helped them get so excited to meet their new sibling. Leading up to the birth, we had some unusual findings in one of the blood samples that were run, and she put in extra time and effort to help us find the answers we needed to feel confident in our birth plan. There was also a risk of hemorrhage, but she wisely helped us weigh all of our options before, during, and after the birth so that we could have the safe and beautiful delivery we hoped for. Margie and her assistant midwife, Neta (who is also wonderful), accurately assessed the health of both mom and baby and responded quickly and professionally to any concerns that arose, including a very fast transition and delivery and maternal bleeding. We felt completely safe and empowered throughout the entire process because of Margie's clinical skill and compassionate demeanor. Birth can be unpredictable, and we felt well-informed and supported through every decision. After the birth, her standard of excellence continued, as she made multiple home visits to check on mom and baby and helped empower us make the decisions about his health we were uncertain. We are so grateful to know Margie and would highly recommend that others make the same choice if they are looking for a kind, gentle, trustworthy, skilled, and dedicated provider who truly cares.

My first birth was at a hospital and after doing thorough research, I realized that I deserved better than the care that I had received and knew that I needed a different experience. For my second birth I gave birth at Allen Birthing Center which was fantastic! This third time around, I decided to do several interviews of midwives in the area. I felt an instant connection to Margie and I knew that I wanted to go with her. I was having some financial issues at the time but she allowed me to make a payment plan and get a substantial discount. She really does care about people and want to help in any way possible. If you have formerly received obstetric care, I think you'll find that out-of-hospital midwifery care is a night and day opposite experience. Obstetrics focuses mostly on the baby and is very fear-based. Margie is very holistic in her methods and believes in the woman's body's capability to birth. She knows that the mother's emotional state is just as important as what is going on with her physically. Through our appointments I let her know my goals for my birth, including my desire to birth in an upright position. She made sure that all of my wishes were respected and I obtained the ultimate birth experience that I desired! I am forever grateful for her and consider her a friend. Ladies, please don't be fearful! Our bodies were created for this. Should a hospital transfer be desired or necessary, there is always a plan B and C for those scenarios. If you are having trouble getting your husband on board, I highly recommend having him watch "The Business of Being Born."
